Crazy experience at It's a Small World

and then they put their fingers in the scanner and so do we.. double ewwww:scared1::scared1::scared1:

This is a great point. DW and I have gone on a few NCL cruises and there were automatic hand sanitizers all over the ships. Before you walk into or out of any restaurant, by the doors leading out to the deck, entering the casino, etc. It was also mandatory to sanitize your hands before boarding the ship. I am surprised Disney doesn't offer the same services. It would in the very least calm down the people obsessed with the swine flu.

Our VA hospital has the same thing as do a few other places i have been. I so wish Disney would do it as well but we will carry our own hand sanitizer just to be safe.

Now that you mention it, I remember buying about a dozen of these things in the parks:

Perhaps that's the reason Disney doesn't have sanitizer stations readily available.

UGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Those parents and I would not have been pals by the end of that ride

But I think that would be a fantastic argument,

"EXCUSE ME, BUT THESE PEOPLE WERE YELLING AT MY CHILDREN!"

"Why?"

"BECAUSE WE GAVE THEM COINS TO CHUCK AT THE CHARACTERS. 500 POINTS IF YOU HIT THE BOY ON THE TIGHTROPE!"

:headache:

So, here is the real question. What do you do in a situation like that?

Do you ignore it and try to have a good ride anyway?
Do you say something to the people, like tell your kids to sit down or something?
Do you tell the CM at the end of the ride and ask to go again?

Do you make some smart-alec joke to the parents like " can I have some coins too? I figure there is no way you all are ghoing to stop so if you can't beat 'um join 'um?

What do you do? Start an argument right there and ruin EVERYBODY'S ride?

When I have my own children with me and see other children behaving this way- I always use it as an immediate behavior "lesson" for my kids!
I make a very loud comment to my own children, such as "Wow, I am so glad that you girls know how to behave yourselves on rides. See what those kids are doing? They are being very naughty."
It's usually all it takes for the other parent to feel pressured to do something. At the very least it sometimes makes the other kids behave even if their parents don't respond.
I am a teacher- so I deal with kids all day long. I have a good tone of voice and have very seldom come across a child who didn't at least have the grace to look sheepish when I make a comment like this.

Just today in our local Goodwill store I sent a child back to her parents. She was running in the store and hiding and yelling back to her parents. She pulled some toys off the shelves and was being obnoxious! Mommy dearest and Daddy Darling did nothing. So I did! I very sternly told her that it wasn't okay to behave this way in a store, it was not a playground and she needed to go back to her parents. She did! And continued to look back sheepishly at me while I shopped.
The sad thing is- most of the time parents don't seem to even care that someone else has to say something to their kids. It's like they have given up!
It drives me nuts to think that these spoiled and undisciplined children are going to grow up and think that this is the normal way to behave!!??

I can not believe the actions of those children and the parents all but condoned it.... I would have mentioned something to the CM that was there....

I mean Disney spends alot of money refurbing these rides and they do not need people doing things to damage or shut down a ride.....

just my two cents...:grouphug:

Thanks for sharing your two cents here rather than chucking it at an attraction! :rotfl:

To be honest, even if the CMs had made an announcement over the speaker there's no guarantee the kids would have stopped throwing money.

Last time we were at Disney, we were on LWTL and a guy at the back of our boat kept standing up. The CM kept saying over and over again, over the speakers, 'Please sit down, sir,' and each time you could hear her getting more and more agitated. He just kept on standing though. We've had mixed experiences on POTC too. One time we were on there before the drop, and a guy took a flash picture. Some voice came over the speaker saying that it was not allowed, and he didn't do it again. Last time we were there though, there were people taking flash photography right the way through POTC and SE, and there were no announcements. It absolutely ruins the dark rides.

Reminds me of the time I saw a couple from Vermont leg-sweep Aurora and violently kick the stuffing out of her, then set fire to the Askershus buffet...

You scoff, but it's only a matter of time...

A few years back... I was in Hollywood and Vine having diner with my kids and Dad and BIL... there was this little girl.. I would say 4 or 5 years old... not older and she was yelling and walking on the long bench... The parents were finishing their meal, when her parents told her to get down... The little girl (all pretty with her bows in her hair and beautiful dress) awsered... shut the F**k up... and continued to walk on the bench and yell...:scared1:
I looked at my Dad and said... Did she just say what I think she said... and he confirmed it :sad2:

Then the parents let her on the bench for a few more minutes and by then it was time to leave.. they had to pick her up and force her into her stroler and walk out... the little girl all the time was yelling and cursing at them... I was shocked...

There is a famous (and true) story of "flash mountain" where a young woman did just that and was forever banned from WDW.
I've heard this before, and I don't doubt that Disney sometimes takes such drastic measures ... but how is it actually enforced? I could understand that it might be easier for those tickets that require an ID -- maybe the name and address are flagged in the system -- but what all the ones that don't require anything except money? And even with an ID, a person can change his her address and even names can be changed as well ...

It more or less goes on the honor system, not to mention if she were to come back, she must always use cash.. for everything...unless her name had been changed.

no one, I would be in court

::yes:: As they say on Family Fued.. Good Answer, Good Answer....;) I know I would be too had it hit my child, especially after I had it on video what the little darlings had been doing all along...a picture is worth a thousand words....

Yeah, we're tough up here in Vermont :rotfl:

He stood between two cars and relieved himself right there!! When he was done, he walked right back up to his wife and held her hand.
While he was doing his thing, I would have pointed and yelled, "OMG, OMG, it's so small! That guy must be a mutant!" Then I would have offered his wife my sympathies.

As for Flash Mountain, people can flash with impunity, at least at Disneyland. It was recently in the news that the pics are no longer scanned for bare breasts, as you can see here: http://bit.ly/2YsSOr Flash away!

What about other people who have the same name? Genuinely curious here.

OMG that was so funny!! Good thing I was able to clap my hand on my mouth before I spewed Dr. Pepper all over my laptop.

I agree with the poster who said that a CM should have said something over the PA. That would probably be enough in order for them to understand "we see you!" When ignorant people who do/allow things like this get on dark rides, they may feel no one operating the ride can see them and they feel safe to engage in stupidity. If anything, they would at least be embarrassed to basically be called out in front of others.
