Crazy experience at It's a Small World

That video really blows my mind! Especially the fact that the parents see exactly what the kids are doing. To me that is vandalism. I can't beleive that anyone would think it is ok to go through a ride throwing things as it. You should have taken a penny an thrown it at them ( not really).

I have to agree that is a little strange, but I would have had more of a problem with you video taping my children, then posting them on the internet, if I were them.

:rolleyes2

Can't even see the kid's faces with the darkness of the video.
All you get is the essence of the situation.

Wow, what a wacky ride. I don't understand why parents would encourage that behavior; no wonder rides break down on a regular basis if they allow their kids to act out people do things like this.

I hope they DO see their little darlings on the internet. Maybe it'll wake them up a bit.

Call me crazy, but I have a feeling that parents who let their kids do something like this on a ride in WDW would probably think it is really cool that their delinquent kids were on the internet...they'd probably even show it off to their friends.

Not to be rude but the videotaping comment is one of the dumbest things I have ever read. Problem is bad parenting not a video tape.

If I was the older gentleman on the ride who got hit i would have taken coins out my pocket and smacked the girls with them, they are just lucky my husband wasn't on with them:sad2:he always speaks up in situations like that.

Assault and battery on a child is never a good idea.

Well, at least the kids stopped throwing coins long enough to...take a photograph using their flash!?!?!? :sad2:

That behavior really would have bothered me during the ride and I would not have enjoyed myself. That behavior would have bothered my husband too because I would have had to drag him on IASW once more so that I could enjoy it at least one time around. :scared1:

I must say that though it is a bit odd that their parents thought it was a good idea to encourage this type of acting out, I've seen much worse at Disney from adults.

We were there back on Easter weekend, and as we were waiting in line to ride It's a Small World, we saw someone "pretending" to be mentally challenged (not sure what the pc word for that is, and I truly hope that I didn't offend anyone just now). He put on a pretty good show until after he got on the ride. Once his boat went under the bridge, he threw his hands in the air like he'd just won the lottery, and then he started giving high fives to his buddies. His friends were laughing pretty hard too, and it was obvious that they just "pulled one over" on Disney.

So again, while I do think it was horrible behavior for both the children and parents, I've unfortunately seen worse.......

Sadly, this does not surprise me anymore. Neither the lack of parenting or the lack of response from Disney (unless it was not seen, which is unlikely).:sad2:

I thought the same thing about the flash photography, not only by the kid, but later by the dad I think?

I can't believe it. And there for a second I thought I would have told the CM for sure, but then if the kids and parents heard me tell the CM and the CM did nothing. Then they would really think they have the right to keep doing it. I wish there was a way that you could have found out their hotel room and sent them a bill for the damage that their kids did to the ride and say in the letter that it is on tape, so they dispute it.

It's just scary the types of kids and parents that you find today.

Since these parents don't really strike me as being the type to care what their little cupcakes are doing, I doubt that they would have really noticed that someone was videotaping them.

It's really a self-correcting issue. If folks control their kids then people won't videotape them acting out while their parents encourage them.

This is just an absurd statement, just because a child is acting out doesn't give someone else the right to video them.

People with a sense of entitlement.

In no way do I condone what the children did. I also think it is very irresponsible of the parents to allow them to do it. On the other hand I don't approve of the OP videotaping the children and then posting it on an internet site that is seen by thousands of people. Some people are protective of their children and do not want their images posted on internet sites for anyone to be able to download. If you had a problem with what they were doing you should have reported it to a CM. What good is it to post the video here on the boards? Vent all you want that is what we are here for, my issue is purposely recoding them and posting it. IMHO

The kid with the white hoodie was really malicious with those coins.
Take THAT you little doll from another country! :stitch2:

On one of our several rides of IASW Sunday night (my 3 year old loved this ride), we had a very weird experience. We were seated in the third row of the boat. In front of us was a 30 something couple and a slightly older man. The front row had two girls, I'd say about 8-12, that belonged to the couple. As soon as we got clear of the dock, the girls started hurling money in an attempt to hit anything they could. As we were approaching the entryway to the ride, they threw some coins at the arch, causing them to come down and hit the man in the back of the boat ahead of us. He glared at them for about 30 seconds, but he finally just turned around. I thought at that point that their parents didn't see what they did, but I quickly figured out that they just didn't care. As we went through the ride, they continued to chunk coins at everything in the ride, sometimes standing up to gain more momentum. Every so often, the older man would weakly tell them to just throw in the water, but they wouldn't pay any attention to him. When they would run out of coins, the mother would reach into her purse and give them some more from the roll she had ready to go. We were shocked at the behavior of not only the kids, but more so the parents! My husband started videotaping them about halfway through. The video is dark, but you can hear the sound of the coins hitting the stuff in the ride. I thought about telling the CM at the end of the ride, but from everything I've read on here, I was pretty sure it wouldn't do any good.

Here's the links to the video; it's in 2 parts:

That's actually quite sickening. It makes me angry that those foolish parents just let their kids toss coins around like that. They could have damaged something or hurt someone. No discipline.

I'm surprised there was no CM monitoring this, but with all the cutbacks, I guess they can't watch everything.

As for videotaping and posting online, when you enter a public place like Disney, you waive your right to privacy. There is a notice to that effect on the back of your ticket, I believe.

Seriously, I'm willing to bet every one of you could find a photo or video of yourself somewhere online that was taken by a stranger. I once had a fellow DIS member (who I've never met) recognize me from my signature photo because we had taken the same cruise a year earlier (we didn't know each other). She e-mailed me a photo of me that she had taken when her husband and I were involved in an onboard game together.

Don't you folks ever look at youtube?

Besides, as someone mentioned earlier, it's dark and you really can't see the kid's faces.

I have to agree that is a little strange, but I would have had more of a problem with you video taping my children, then posting them on the internet, if I were them.

Generally I'd be inclined to agree with your statement, but the actions of the parents in this particular situation makes me disinclined to care. And FWIW, things done in public (which includes things done on an indoor ride open to the public) are done with no expectation of privacy. If other people can see what you are doing, they can videotape it. Just one more reason to avoid encouraging your children to behave like animals . . .

That is odd behavior. Did they think that it was a giant wishing well?

I think if you watch the video you'll see that the kids weren't gently tossing the coins into the water (which you would expect if they were using the ride as a wishing well) -- they were deliberately aiming them at the ride animatronics, and chucking them with force.

What a family of animals.

This is a I told you so moment..
Just earlier this week I posted on a board here that a big problemat Disney is people too lazy to be parents.
Here's a perfect example.

These are the same type of people who complain about almost anything thinking they are entitled to whatever they want just because they paid for a Disney vacation.

Wow. That's sad that the entire family doesn't have respect for a ride. I feel bad for Walt.

OMG, I know there are worthless parents out there who pass their attitudes and values to their children but it always amazes me to see the proof. I don't blame your husband for videotaping it. In fact, I would have very loudly announced that I was going to ask the CM if we could stay on and ride again due to the extremely rude children in our boat. And, in fact, I most definitely would have asked the CM loudly if we could ride again due to the evidence of my "not so magical experience" caught on video:sad2:
