Been watching for our dates 22nd July to 8th August or thereabouts. Virgin were showing miles plus money availability up until yesterday afternoon at £730 - went to book 7 seats last night and gone! Checked today thinking it might be the number of seats I wanted to boo but no, all gone ............and the normal prices have gone through the roof ............. £900 odd for most dates, over £1000 for weekends and Wednesday 24th "no flights" :confused3

Really hoping this is a blip and that indirect goes down - indirect showing over £700 right now.

Know its early days but really wish I'd got them at 11 month window now.

Anybody else waiting?

Anybody else waiting?

Not thought about next Summer yet. I have usually found best prices between Xmas and Feb. Only time I book early is if I see a deal(under £500)
Going to get Matt off to Uni then go away early Nov then start to look at next year. Its going to be complicated though as at the end of our holiday we will be driving upto North Carolina and leaving Matt there at Uni for a year, dreading sorting the flights.

Thanks Wayne, you'd think after this many years I'd learn .... But still in a frenzy ..... Think you're right I'll wait ... £622 indirect into Tampa best at moment .... Sure I can improve on that.

I looking to go next year anytime in August, I priced Virgin flights a couple of days ago and for 2 adults and a child it was over £2500. Im hoping to find something for around £500 each indirect, I expect direct will be too expensive for us as we're going in just over 3 weeks.

Fingers crossed we both find something!

Ba were cheaper for us for next August direct. Tampa was £1100 cheaper than MCO for the 4 of us so it was a no brainer! An extra 30 mins in a car is worth a saving if £1100.

How much did you pay for your Tampa flight? Last time I looked they were more than BA? To be fair that was into MCO though

My original holiday flights for august this year i booked in february through CO and were £558 direct with VA. tht was going the 22 nd though but like others hv said I would wait a while. I know its sooooo hard.

We are looking for next August , most flights direct coming out at 3000-£3500 for 2 adults and 2 children, holding off at the moment.

I keep looking at the prices, hoping theyll fall a bit.
not going until 2014 but want a rough guide.

good luck everyone pixiedust:

All the 1.00 pm flights on the dates I'm looking for have disappeared .... Only the 11:15 showing ..... So wonder if there's a problem and it's throwing silly prices into the mix ...... Let's hope so

Hi, we paid 3k for 2 adults and 2 children for BA direct including a domestic leg. That worked out to under £800 each which for peak summer hold with a scheduled direct we considered good (ridiculously ... Wish we could fly with more flexible dates and pick up the cheaper flights)

I think over the past few years the two direct scheduled airlines eg. Virgin and BA in August you are lucky to get sub £800 per person. I have a friend who goes every year and she has struggled in the last few years to fly scheduled and direct in August for less than £800 per person although others may have managed to xxx Good luck x

For summer it depends if you are patient, have airmiles to use, be as flexible as poss, this year you could get Miles and money Premium Economy both ways for just over £700pp. We got reward seats using our miles. There were some regular direct economy fares for about £650pp but many managed to get good indirect flights for about £450.
Maybe your £800 will be good this year but its more than I am willing to pay, we will see what happens in the new year when I start looking seriously.

Where are you looking Wayne - the last time I managed to get any sort of fare even close to £450 was 2007! We always go in the 6 week hols as I am a teacher and I spend months trawling the sites!

Those were prices people paid last August. There was a big thread on the Dibb, many many people got flights from about £420, can't find the original thread but this one was about how much everyone had paid http://www.thedibb.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=618527&highlight=delta+glitch

They said it was a glitch but it went on too long and too many booked IMO.

Hiya yes we got £770 each for August 2013 but as I say that included a Channel Islands domestic leg which is normally around £100 per person but that is cash and direct with BA, we did not have the reward points to use unfortunately to part pay cash. Wow £450 ish sounds amazing! Oh to be flexible on dates!!!

Monitoring these flights is such fun ... not. :scared:

We're doing multicity - London to Vancouver, Vancouver to Los Angeles and then back to London and I've spent over a year constantly checking prices and working out whether to book in one go or do separate bookings. It's consistently worked out cheaper to do it separately so I booked the Vancouver - LA route the day flights were released and was so chuffed with the price as it was far less than I'd allowed. BA has been always been cheaper for the two Atlantic crossings and I've noticed that although it starts off higher, their price always drops as soon as Virgin release their flights - this has happened every day throughout July and August until my return date comes up and then prices for both airlines have gone up!!

I'm going to hope they'll come back down again once the codeshare and indirect flights kick in otherwise it'll wipe out my savings on the middle flight!! And our dates are still flexible - well sort of, got to be back by DD's GCSE results day.

There - I feel better for sounding off. At least it saves ranting on to my colleagues about it!
