Craziest table mates you have had.

Wow! Thank you for the link to the "Babies".
I think I feel really sorry for this lady or if this was a college class about parenting I hope she got an A. And I cant believe she got her Mom to go along with her!

I just watched that video of the re-born babies, OMG! The bath in the sink really flipped me out. They have cloth bodies. She said " the babies made a mess at dinner".

So now I'm re-thinking taking my Mickey plush with me. He is dressed in vacation wear and has a little camera around his neck. I don't anyone to think I'm weird. I don't bathe him or change his clothes, I do take him to Cabana's on the first day only because he is in my carry-on. We take his picture around the ship for fun. Weird? :confused3

No, I don't think that's weird. Reminds me of the "flat Stanley" idea - which I think is fun. I don't think doing something like that is in the same camp as the reborn babies. You aren't wearing him in a Baby Bjorn and pushing him in a stroller around the ship, so I think you're good. :thumbsup2

my head hurts from reading this one....i'm still confused...

:rotfl2: I know, right? We all knew something was odd with them but never could've dreamed up such a crazy story. I don't want to mention any names here but the mom's name sort of went with the whole story too. It was a total riot but it all made perfect sense tho after the one girl explained it all that night.

On a different cruise line, we went to high tea in the big dining room and were seated with an elderly woman whose cabin mate died in her sleep the previous night and was being taken off the ship in the next port of call. This lady didn't seem phased by it as much as you'd think, almost like they planned it this way, and couldn't stop talking about her and all the things concerning her death (arrangements to get the deceased off the ship, visiting the deceased in the mortuary on the ship, etc.). Certainly the most awkward table mate pairing we ever had on a cruise. We avoided high tea for the rest of that cruise, sadly, as I loved their high tea service, but was too weirded out by that incident to enjoy it, even with different tablemates.

We've had some runners up though. Again on that same cruise line, we had some table mates who were guided to our table, they looked disgusted, and told their guide they demanded to be seated on the opposite side of the dining room. We were then given new tablemates, two divorced women who came to dinner only once and gossiped the whole time, and a couple from Korea who didn't speak much English and were only there for two of the seven nights. We loved our server so much that we kept the table and kept mostly to ourselves, which was easy when the other tablemates rarely showed for dinner. (We don't sail with this cruise line any more. Whilst we admired the service and the crew, we felt very uncomfortable and out of place with the other guests in general. My parents and cousins love cruising with this cruise line though, so maybe we're the crazy ones?)

Otherwise, we are frequently seated on our own (not by request) or we have delightful tablemates. On our honeymoon cruise the tablemates were lovely and caring and enjoyed talking about things they wanted to do in port or what they did during their day. Some of them offered to pay for us to come with them on a fancy excursion. (Sadly, we had something else booked, but we still had fun.) On our first DCL cruise we were sat with two couples with young girls and had such a pleasant time that we kept in touch for several years after. One of the girls had similar allergies to me and we'd send care packages back and forth with new treats and goodies we found that were safe. We've had more great tablemates than weird ones, that's for sure.

My parents are consummate cruisers (they're somewhere in the Indian Ocean right now), and have had many good, and a few bad, table-mates over the years. One story they always tell is about the two English grandmothers who were travelling with their two granddaughters on the first Mediterranean cruise we ever went on. We weren't seated with them for dinners, but I struck up a cruise friendship with their girls, so when we ended up on the same shore excursion, our families decided to share a table for lunch. The tables were made for 10 people, and we had just 7 at ours, three of which were underage girls. There were three bottles of wine on the table for the people to share. My parents had a quiet discussion before lunch started because they didn't want the grandmothers to think they were lushes if they split an entire wine bottle between the two of them. That is, until each grandmother took one of the remaining bottles entirely for themselves.

Those grandmas were awesome!

I love Flat Stanley, it was a fun thing to do with my girls. We kinda do the same thing with our Mickey as one would do with Flat Stanley. My sister took Flat Stanley to CA and had a picture of him sitting in the airplane seat and with the Hollywood sign in the back ground.

okay so I'm not weird. I was a little scarred there.

I don't get it... A little help please?

I don't like getting "baited" into a mean spirited discussion.....i.e. their statement that whatever I was wearing caused the woman to not want to sit with us :)
I have 4 teens at home, if I wanted a senseless argument I've got plenty to choose from!

Have to agree. OP is no where near the reborn people. Taking your stuffed Mickey is not weird.

Nah, I have a ScarePig I took on our family trip this summer and took pictures of him all over - including the ship. I think he only attended a meal at Cabanas on embarkation day though.

take the Mickey- hell; they sell Duffy the Bear with 1000 get-ups and he's a fraction of Disney compared to Mickey....

Just a note on the babies - she posted a comment on that YouTube video that says this: "No, I'm not crazy. I'm fully aware that these are just dolls. It's just a hobby, I make videos for fun. No I do not want real children, no I don't want to adopt, no I did not lose a child, or am preparing for one. I work a normal job, I have a family and just do this as a hobby and for fun! Lighten up people. I have an imagination and I use it! Thanks :)"

Just thought I'd share since so many people seem to be curious or creating their own stories!

There was a thread some time ago "Craziest things you've seen" and her response was posted there too. Someone who is her friend posts here and told her that her youtube videos were posted here on that thread.
