It's true. They set up a place to take a picture in front of the tower. My friend just posted to FB yesterday a picture with all of this luggage. And today the sign is gone. So I guess that photo op is history forever. Hard to believe.
Glad we took a few pics in front of it in the past. Didn't realize my wife and daughter were waving bye instead of hi.

Wow. I bought one day tickets to run over there for 1/2 a day in October before the Halloween Party as my kids and husband love this ride. Wanted to give them one last ride and a photo - at least they will have the ride, but still - why promote the photo and then do this?!?!?!?!?

Yep. They should have been up front with that in the announcement. I was looking forward to one last trip being able to get pictures of the HTH.

Why so glum. It's not like you couldn't make a trip to WDW and ride the original and IMHO better version of ToT. Walt didn't want the parks to always stay the same. He wanted them to be evolving entities. Change isn't always easy. You never know the GoG version of ToT might turn out to be amazing.

Some don't get a chance to visit WDW or care to trade a trip to DLR for WDW over one ride.

I don't care one whit about Guardians of the Galaxy. It holds no appeal for me at all.

I don't care about guardians coming. I actually like Marvel and want to see it added to the parks. I just think they deserve their own attractions, not being shoehorned in to an already existing (very good) attraction. I'd actually have less issues with them taking down the DCA TOT completely and replacing it with an all new GOTG attraction than i do with the route they have chosen to take instead.

I'm pretty sure when Walt said the parks would keep changing, he didn't mean that the execs should kill one of the highest rated thrill rides OF ALL TIME to reskin it with the sole intent of cabbaging in on a cash cow movie. Replace stage coach rides with mine train roller coasters? Makes sense. Retheming for no other reason than a cash grab? A lot of people get upset.

I'm hoping the new ride is awesome, but right now it just smells rotten.

Odd choice to say the least. It'd be one thing if all they were promoting was something interior, like the ride in complete darkness. But, in all the promotional stuff I've seen, they are making the facade of the building just as important as the ride itself what with the photo ops and all. Why say come get one last photo in front of TOT with props and signage but then take down the actual sign? Who thinks this stuff up?

Tower of Terror wasn't meant to be changed when it was built. Disney is taking a cheap route here. I have no problem with guardians in the parks but build a new attraction or tear ToT down and then build something new. There isn't even an elevator/major drop in guardians.

NNNNNNOOOOOOO!!!!! they couldn't have waited 12 more days so I could get a last picture. I feel cheated, mislead, robbed, horn swoggled, bamboozled, hoodwinked, duped, burned, bilked and beguiled. I feel wronged. They told me to come and get a last picture and then they do this? Why Disney...Why. I feel like Cindy Lou Who when she wakes up and finds that "santa clause" has stolen her Christmas tree and left her no gifts. I feel the need to come up with a unique verb to describe the wrong that has been done to me-I have been Igered. What the heck?

I am a bit embarrassed to admit this but we were just there Sat-Tues and while I remember seeing the sign up on Sunday (DS was asking me what the hotel's "real" name was) and we saw the crane there on Tuesday, I did not notice that the sign was missing! Shows how observant I can be sometimes...

I'm glad that I have been on the ride at least once. I got a lot of pictures when I went there. I thought this whole ride change was just for promotion of the new movie as they could easily put the Hollywood hotel theme back up. I guess not? I wonder if they will still sell the merchandise?

If it was so easy to take down, I don't see why it couldn't be left up until it closed. I read a rumor that it was only being taken down temporarily. Would be nice if that turned out to be true.
My kids were going to ride it for their first and only time next week!

I apologize for the above post. I was merely attempting to be positive (+U) not upset anyone. As a WDW vet and about to visit DLR for only my 3rd time I enjoy the unique aspects of both resorts.

That's how I feel about it. I don't have a problem with them adding Marvel things to the parks. I'm not a fan of Pandora (WDW) or a huge Star Wars follower or a Marvel fan. But I understand that lots of other people are and I'm ok with them adding those things. But DANG, I sure didn't think they would be taking away things that we DO love to make those things happen. It's just so disappointing.

That makes absolutely no sense at all.

It really makes it seem like they're making all of this up as they go along.
