Cranberry & Pineapple Continued.....Again.

I am off today. I only have to go get Jake from school.

Jrsy, Heidi and Cristi. Be careful coming home from work. I think the storm is here to stay for awhile.
I'm walking and taking the light rail, but I am planning to stop for a couple of beers after work, so I'll be extra careful that I don't lose my footing and end up in a snowbank.

We went out to lunch in the snow today and when we left the restaurant, it was pouring rain. Needless to say we were prepared for snow but not for rain.

I've been sitting at home waiting for the guy to aerate our lawn. You can still see the grass so I "assume" he is coming. I called and didn't get an answer. I would hate to be stuck here all day, all night and then into tomorrow or Sunday and could have gotten some fresh air today. I wish he would call!

Well, he never showed. I sat all day waiting for someone to come and they didn't show up. Bummer.

Here is what the teacher said about what he'd miss:

"I don’t believe Alex will miss any concepts next year. 7th grade accelerated uses the 8th grade CMP books which build more on what we have done this year, it’s a lot more inquiry and collaboration with groups. The algebra program is a traditional program especially in the sense that they get a more comprehensive look at algebra concepts through problem solving instead of using inquiry method. I think Alex would be better suited for the latter because works better independently. He is also outside the box a lot of the time and since algebra is so abstract I think he would do well."

I'm not sure if him being "outside the box a lot of the time" is a good thing or a bad thing.

I took calculus in high school so I ended up taking ordinary differential equations and linear algebra in college. I had a friend who tested out of calculus in HS so he did independent study senior year. He was also accepted early decision at MIT.

Jrsy coming from the school side/testing if the teacher feels like he will not miss anything then I would go on her advice. We have a special progam here called HAG which is located at a special school for the students who are accerlated.

I do not know how your testing is in your state. My only question would be what type of testing will he be required to take at the end of the year. Here the students must take the ALG EOC and the Math EOG. From everything you have ever said about Alex and by going on how his teacher feels I am sure if you have similar testing he will have not difficulty passing both type of testing. If he has the fundamentals of the 7th grade math then he should be fine with any 7th grade end of grade testing.

Does that make sense? I do not think a teacher would ever put herself on the line by making such a suggestion if she thought your son could not swing it.

Well, he never showed. I sat all day waiting for someone to come and they didn't show up. Bummer.

All that is a bummer. One would think he would have called and told you there was no way to do it. I think I would have to let him or his company know next time to please call me if they are not going to show and that you did not appreciate wasting an entire day sitting at home waiting for them.

I have been extremely sick. I told you guys about having laryngitis. Finally on Thursday I came to the conclusion that if they wanted me to go home I would go. I was just tired of fighting it. Sure enough when my boss came into work at 11 she decided I had no business being there and she sent me home at 2 under the advice not to come to work on Friday if I was still as sick.

You know it is funny once they sent me home I felt like crap and seemed to get sicker. I actually felt better while at work. lol I came home Thursday and took 2 naps. lol

Friday I woke up at my normal time to see if I could go to work. I still could not talk above a whisper so I stayed home. I cooked breakfast and fixed lunches, went to the grocery store and came home and did my part of the chores. Then I took a nap. HAHA my nap was at 10 am. lol

Jeff took me to get different medicine yesterday. Normally I can not take Mucinex but he bought me WalMart brand a which has less guaifenesin. I have been taking it since 5 yesterday and finally my coughing is getting a bit better. Well I am still coughing as much but it is more productive now. lol You should see all the medicine I am on. lol I take 3 ibuprofen every 6 hours, one of the off brand mucinex every 4 hours, 2 Pseudoephedrine every 4-6 hours (had to sign Jeff's life away to buy this stuff), muscle relaxer at bedtime, my steroids (finished them this morning) and my sinus medicine before going to bed. lol

Oh Selena, you sound so bad. Hope you are getting better. wow, how do you keep all those meds straight?

You sound pretty drugged up Selena. :) Hope you are feeling better. Get lots of rest this weekend.

Sandy it has been hard to keep up with all the medicine. A couple of times/doses I had to ask if I had already taken something. Of course even though Jeff was standing there he was not paying attention to what I was taken. I probably would not have noticed what he took either. lol When in doubt I did not take my medicine. The steroids were easy since they are labeled.

Cristi at bed time I am so drugged. I only take the muscle relaxer and allergy medicine at bedtime, both of which make me sleepy. Serioulsy some nights I have had 7 pills to take. I almost went to buy one of those meidicne organizers.

I am off the steroids now. I might try to cut down the amount of Ibprofen I am taking tomorrow. My TMJ is a lot better but my teeth still ache some and my throat is still sore from the cold. lol

Good news though, I can go to work tomorrow. I just am not good at sitting around the house.

I am going to work on a project list soon for the summer so I will not go crazy. However, I know by the first week my house will have been cleaned deeply and the garage will be clean again. Hopefully I will have the energy soon to work in my yard. Jeff and E did some work there yesterday but I need to weed my flower beds soon. One is over ran by weeds. The others will be fine if I can get out there sometime this week with some weed killer.

Hey did you guys get the big storm? Jeff told me a huge snow storm was suppose to hit your area on Friday.

Selena - I hope you are feeling better today! Yes, we did have a big storm that hit us, but it depended on which area you lived in on what you got. We got hit with snow and rain. The snow was really wet so it melted quickly for awhile and then began to accumulate. I think we had about 6 inches accumulate, but when the rain started on Saturday, it melted a lot of the snow! It seems down south got hit harder than up North. When we went to my cousins going away party, they live up North and it wasn't even raining and all of their snow was gone while at our house it was pouring and we still had a lot of snow. My sister had over 2 ft of snow!

lol I actually feel decent today. My voice is at 85% and I woke up with pink eye but started the drops immediately and I did go to work. Of course I did not mention the pink eye to anyone.

I was just thinking about all of you guys today with it being the 10 year anniversary of something so tragic.

Selena, I can't believe that you've got pink eye now. Good grief!

Heidi, I am sitting here reading my Ketogenic book and they were saying what all comes in handy for a diet. I am thinking.......wouldn't it be kind of cool to throw a "keto shower" for her? It is not expensive stuff but I thought it would be fun. The book didn't say anything about one but I thought it would be a way to start it out and get her excited. I was thinking like Bonnie, Pat, Jeanne, you, me, Aunt Glory, Nina, and shoot can't think of Loren's wifes name. It is stuff like bendable straws, toothpicks (cutsey to encourage fun eating), plastic containers, popsicle molds and just little stuff like that. I have a list. What do you think??????

I am so bummed, we just got our room assignments and we are in a Cat 11. NO split bathroom, what am I doing to do with 3 girls and only one bathroom? I cannot tell you how disappointed I am. I am never going to go gty again!

GTY is definitely a gamble! But remember, you got that awesome deal doing it that way. I know you can work it out. You will just have to tell the girls that there is no option.....when you say it's time to do whatever, then it is time!!

I know you were not asking me but I love this idea!!! I might have to see what I can find. I will PM you.

You know they could still upgrade you. Keep the faith that they will. If not the showers in the spa is nice. Here is one thing we did when we were on the cruise with Mac. I took my shower, Jeff then took his. He was done first and he left the room. Mac would then take a shower. Mac and I wound up being done around the same time.

Mom - I do think that is a great idea, I would go in on the Keto shower party!

Selena - what a great idea, I didn't even think of the spa. I can take a shower up there and so can Chris, then the girls have the shower in the room. Thanks for the great suggestion.

I was disappointed last night, but today is a new day and I am back to being excited. Just yesterday seeing everyone on my meet thread go from either a Cat 12 to a Cat 9 or a Cat 11 to a Cat 7 made be feel jealous! I feel very privileged that I can even take the family on a cruise and would sleep anywhere just to get on the ship. Besides we only will sleep and get ready in the room. I have to get some nightlights for the girls because they are still scared of the dark. I think I will get a string of lights and put it up in the room for their nightlight!
