Today is moving day at work. We get to pack up all of our junk, get new carpet and unpack it...all in 2 days!!!! At least I get to wear jeans!!!

Marcie please let us know how you are. Is the hurricane in a direct track to you guys. Either way if it is a Cat 4 or 5 like they are redict ...GET OUT!!!

Your poor family. I know you are concerned without having your hubby there and I dknow he is worried to death for you guys too. Went thru it all last year...TWICE. Jeff was in Flroida for two hurricanes and one came our way once it hit Flroida. Please let us know what is going on. We are worried about you.

I agree ~ I am concerned and will be thinking about you.... keep us posted if you can. I live in Florida and although we only got the tropical storm end of 2 last year.... and it was hard because we had a ton of trees that went down, and some were on top of houses. Luckily the one that came down in our yard did not hit the house. Regardless... hurricanes are scary and especially after what we just saw with Katrina, we are more on edge. So, know we are thinking of you and please keep us in touch.
Hope everyone else is fine today, I just got back from Curves. I am tired today so maybe best I went and got it over with now, especially since I work tonight.
OK..... I will try to keep loooking on the boards to see what is happening.

Hey everyone! I just wanted to let you know we are okay. My DH got to stay home to evac with us, we are in louisianna at my Mom's right now. We are worried about our house it's looking like the eye is between Galveston and our house. We've been wanting to move, but not this way.Haha. Thank you all for your prayers and thoughts. I will check back in with y'all later to let you know we are still okay.

Oh Marcie I am so glad you have been able to update us. I am glad you have left and that DH is with you. I hope you all are ok and will continue to be so. You are in our thoughts and prayers!!!!


Yesterday we found out DH is on call again. Today we found out he has been told to stay by his phone and do not turn it off. NC is sending 25% of the staff from Nationwide down to you guys Marcie or at least in Texas. Most of their policies are written in Houston. Mostly Blue Ribbon and he is in the Blue Ribbon department. I told him to go ahead an volunteer at least that way we will not have the suspence of it all. I justh ate not knowing. I would rather know he has to leave then have to wait and wait.....the waiting is killer on your nerves. If and when he has to go he will have to drive down and they are ecpected to be there within 20 hours of the phone call. Here we go again. I hope he is here to go with me to the wedding. LOL Life tends to happen when I have made plans.... I do not mean to make light of the situation....it is just my way of dealing with it all!

Marcie once again plz keep us up to day as best you can...

So many things going through my mind right now. I know we have to wait and see what kind of damage we will have, but the news is saying where I live, it will be like what Biloxi got in Katrina. Less then 2 months until my vacation. How I long to be on the ship right now. Now, who knows if we can even go on vacation. I will keep y'all updated. We plan on staying up tomorrow night and watching it all on the weather channel. I know how you feel Selena when he has to go. My DH was gone for 2 weeks already in New Orleans and would have gone back for more. Now, who knows where he will be. It would be nice if he was home working 16 hours a day instead of in New Orleans. But, at this point we don't even know what we will be going back to. I know I will have a job, but will the building be destroyed. Ahhh like I said, so much going through my mind. Thanks again for the thoughts and prayers. I will check back later. Hey, our cell phones aren't working too great, but at least at this time I still have the internet. At my Mom's here it may still get bad enough to lose power. So I don't know if eventually I won't be having internet either.

Marcie we are watching the news now listening to what all they have to say. I can not say it enough how worried I am for you all. Are you safe with your mom???? Is DH still with you??? I know if you lose power we will not get to hear from you but plz promise you will let us know as soon as Rita is gone and you can how all of you are.

My friend in Biloxi who lost everything except for the stilts the house sat on, said at least they are alive. My other friend from another board who lived in New Orleans said nothing in their house was worth there lives. Marcie no matter how bad it might be at the end just remember you have each other and we are here for you!!! We love you and will keep each of you in our prayers. If you need anything please let me know.

Yes, my DH isnt going to leave until it's over. We are under tornado watch here already. It's getting very windy. We will get 80 mph winds. But we are safer here then trying to find somewhere to go. Everywhere is booked because of 2 hurricanes. We go supplies and stuff if the lights go out. I will keep you all posted. Love you all.

Oh my gosh. Marcie, I just sit here and feel so bad for you. I am glad that your husband is with you. I am sure it feels good to be with your parents as well. I hope that you will be able to post today. My computer is really having problems and I completely lost it yesterday so wasn't able to check on you. I was fortunate that I was able to get on today. Heidi's friend is due here in about an hour to attempt to fix it. If I don't get on I just want you to know that you are in Heidi's and my thoughts and prayers. We are here for you if you need anything.

Selena, you are also in my thoughts. I know that I will never experience what both you and Marci are going through. My DH works for a City here in the Denver area so he is never far from home. I am very thankful for that.

Sandy, what is wrong with your computer. I do some of this at work. Do you ever cleanit up? Ad-aware is free and spybot is free. They clean off the spam and spy ware you get while on-line. Various sites you go to and if you play games this will really mess with your computer. You need to have virus scans on there as well. If you clean it with the pam/apy ware and virus scans. While on the internet you can go to tools/internet options and then go to click on cookie to clean, clean on files and clean and then make sure your history is no more than a day old. Otherwise you are clogging up your computer with history. You need to go to my computer, drive C, windows, there may be one or more of these files....cookies, cashe, cacashe, temporary files. Click on these and delete files. It is safe to delete from these files. Just do not go in and delete files from other stuff on drive c. You go to edit and select all then to file and delete. If it tells you it can not delete a certain file, the computer will stop and then you can click on the second file showing and then press shift and the last file. This should highlight the rest of the files. Just keep doing this until they are all gone except the files the computer will not delete. You also need to go to start, programs, accessories, system tools and disk clean up. Clean up anything that has any numbers by it. This only compresses files and leaves you more space. Then you can do the same process but not chose disk clean up but chose disk defrag. Once this is all dine your computer is really clean and it should run much faster. You may have some type of virus. Be careful of what all you open in attachments.

Not sure if this will help anyone but feel free to try it. This is how I keep computers running fast at work. If you have any questions let me know.

Yes, cat 3 is very good news, but it is still heading straight for my town. I still have power at my Mom's so I'm watching fox news and seeing my town live. It's getting pretty windy now, it will get worse as the hours go by I am sure. I'm kinda upset, one of the plants I got at my Dad's funeral I forgot on my porch. I am sure I will never see it again. But, it will be nice just to have a house to live in. And, of course most importantly I have my family right here with me. I'm thanking God my DH is still with me. I would have really been stressing if he would have had to stay back. I will give another update later. Take care.

Marcie, we are finally home from camping and came straight to the computer to check on you. Hope everything is ok. Sorry about your dads plant. I can certainly sympathize but you have a great attitude over it. We have friends in Lake Charles, LA. Anywhere near you? I can't get a hold of them. I figure the lines are down or cell phone towers are full. Whatever the reason, I understand but are really concerned. They are elderly and their son helped them evacuate last time but he has since moved to another state.

Selena. Not really computer literate here but I think it is up and running pretty good. It would lock up all the time and we completely lost our "g" drive. I am going to print off what you said to do. I do know that we have AOL's protection, Norton Antivirus and Weboot spyware on the machine. I also know that we have a private IP number which Heidi's friend said is great. He said that the drives were hooked up the old fashion way and he did it the new way. Hopefully, that is everything we needed. He didn't find any viruses. He said we are well protected. Thanks for the help and I will certainly keep you in mind when and if it acts up again.

Sandy yes, Lake Charles is about an hour from my house. I hear it is bad there too like in my town. My DH is already back over there working. Our house got roof damage but not enough to rain in. I am very lucky. My InLaws lost their whole house. So did the karate school where we go, it is in shambles. That is not too far from my house. I am living in a hotel right now and they won't tell us when we can go back in, could be a few weeks. But just wanted to let everyone know I am safe. I just got the internet just now, finally. Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers. I am still pretty stressed but definitely happy I have a house to go back to. I even saw pictures of it already.

Marcie, thanks for checking in. Good to hear that your roof held up. Does that mean the water didn't rush in your house as well? It's weird how some things got damaged so badly like the karate school and your in laws but you didn't. Keep a stiff upper lip. You are doing good! Hang in there. The cruise is just around the corner.
