Stephanie - you have to post pictures of your roses...I have never heard about Disney roses.

Marcie - how are you doing? Hoping your mom has a speedy recovery.

They have them on Disney Shopping.com :) My friend/travel agent emailed dh about them!

Here is a good close up of a couple of them. There are a dozen but, they didn't come arranged so, I just have them in a vase.

Those roses are beautiful!!! I love those!!!

Jrsy - We did the same thing at CC when we cruised in January. It was cold but we were all out in the water enjoying ourselves while no one else would step foot into the ocean!! It was a lot of fun. Your little friend looks nice, but I would have freaked out!!! I have still yet to get a fish sandwich on CC, I never see it at the buffets at CC. I heard they were good...maybe September!!!!

Day 7 - Wednesday, February 07

There was no excuse not to sleep in as late as possible on Wednesday morning, since there was really no place that we had to be. I awoke feeling a bit congested, but otherwise fine, and was wondering what had affected me. It never cleared up completely, but it didn’t negatively impact the day. We made the wise decision to return to Parrot Cay for breakfast where I was able to get my bagel and lox fix again. After a leisurely breakfast, we decided to take a walk on decks 9 and 10 to enjoy the sunshine the captain had tracked down and see how warm it was. Tammy and I played an impromptu game of ping-pong and after I soundly defeated her, we headed down to our stateroom to shower and figure out what to do for the day. The only thing on our schedule for the afternoon was the Castaway Club meeting at 1pm. Alex talked about swimming but we swung past the Goofy pool and it was just packed, so he changed his mind. We walked around the ship and he took some pictures with the disposable camera we’d given him the previous day.

When 1pm rolled around, we went down to Wavebands and dropped our cards for the prize drawing into the box. We had some snacks and drinks while we watched a few short “Vault Disney” videos about Disney Cruise Line. When it was time to draw the winners from the box, the CM was having kids in the group pull the cards, so Alex was pleased to be selected. The winner whose name he drew came over to shake his hand afterward.

Since the food was light at the Castaway Club reception, we headed up to Goofy’s Galley and Pluto’s Dog House for lunch. Alex had a cheeseburger and fries while Tammy and I had panini. While we were eating at the front of deck 9, we found Vanessa, our dining room server, working out there so we chatted with her for a little bit. After we ate, Alex wanted to spend some free time in the Lab before they began preparing for “Celebrate the Journey.” While he was in the lab, Tammy and I started trying to coordinate our packing so that we knew where everything was going to go.

Since we were right above the theater, we didn’t need to head over too early and still wound up with good seats in the lower section. We didn’t see Alex this time in any of the montage photos they showed and he ended up going in and out on the opposite side from where we were sitting so we didn’t get any pictures. Back up in the Lab, we grabbed his mortarboard ears and his D-Sea-U t-shirt and let him stay until it was time for dinner. We were in Animator’s Palate on that night and our tablemates hadn’t been there before, so it was interesting to see their reactions to everything going on. Tammy and I had stopped by Guest Services while Alex was in the Lab to get our tip cash squared away, so we handed out our tips and thanked our servers for being so great. Alex had his camera, so we got pictures of him with Vanessa and Roque as well as with Thadeus, Hugh and Kevin.

We had planned to catch another family-oriented Michael Harrison show in Wavebands after dinner, but we ended up lingering in AP for so long that we didn’t make it. Alex wanted to go back to the Lab, so Tammy and I made sure that our luggage was squared away and out in the hallway then went up to deck 10 where she was determined to beat me in ping-pong. The tables on deck 10 were poorly lit at night, so we were both having problems and ultimately ended up playing down on deck 9. She soundly whooped me twice and, I know, would not have been content until she did. We grabbed a couple of hot drinks from the beverage station and pulled up a couple of chairs between Pinocchio’s and the Goofy pool to watch The Incredibles on the giant screen. We made it about an hour or so into it before it got too chilly and we headed to Studio Sea to watch family karaoke.

As we passed the atrium, we could see that “Til We Meet Again” was going on and the atrium and all levels looking into it were mobbed with people. We realized not for the first time that we are nowhere near true Disney fanatics. Once we were seated in Studio Sea we had to chuckle as all of the characters from the atrium filed through, because all of those people who were desperately trying to see them had just missed the most ideal photo opportunity. The kids singing karaoke were mostly entertaining, though you could tell that a few were just trying to be obnoxious. I can say that if I never hear “We’re All in This Together” ever again, it will be too soon. We had to be at Animator’s Palate for breakfast at 6:30 the next morning, so we collected Alex from the Lab and got to bed.

When I woke up the next morning, I knew that the congestion was becoming a full-blown cold. We had been taking Airborne, using Zicam swabs and washing our hands and using the sanitizer on the ship at every opportunity, so I was pretty disappointed that someone had not only been sick enough but also careless enough about spreading their germs that I had picked something up. I didn’t feel too bad but was worried about what a day of traveling without any medication would be like. My bagel with lox was on the breakfast menu at AP and Alex devoured a plate of eggs and bacon, which was good given that we had a long day ahead of us. We spent about an hour at breakfast then said good-bye to our servers and tablemates and headed for the atrium and off the ship.

We found our luggage and made it through customs in about ten minutes then were able to check our luggage there at the port for our Delta flight. We got on the bus and had to wait until it filled before we left but were in the airport and at our gate by 9:30. We did take some time to look through the NASA, Universal and Disney shops in the airport before going through security but didn’t end up buying any more souvenirs. Our flight to Atlanta wasn’t until 11:30, so we had time to kill. I unpacked Alex’s DVD player for him and read a magazine myself as Tammy worked on her sudoku book. The flights home were pretty uneventful but by the time we gathered our luggage at DIA and met Tammy’s mom, I had a pretty bad headache. I lay down on the couch once we were home and actually fell asleep for over an hour. We had the foresight to keep Alex out of school on that Friday, so we had the weekend for Alex to catch up on his schoolwork and to go shopping to refill our refrigerator.

And now, here it is already over a week since we got home. Anyone interested in seeing all of the pictures from our trip? PM me your email address and I will send you the link.

Jrsy - loved your trip report!!! Thanks for sharing. Too bad you got sick, but atleast it was the last day so it didn't put a damper on your vacation too much. I pm'd you.

Hi Guys! I am finally better! Yippee! I was SO sick. From Friday the 9th thru Tues I was really ill with the flu. I did make it to work on Wed and lasted until 2pm before coming home again. Thursday I rested and did all of the mounds of laundry that had piled up. Then on Friday our Girl Scout troop went camping so I am just now getting back from that. We had a lot of fun. It was just our troop this time so that was different for us. I am pooped now though. Those girls can take a lot out of you. :)

I have been enjoying your TR Jrsy.

Heidi, I have your GS cookies. When does your mom get home? I had her phone number so I called her and let her know about the cookies, but I don't have yours. PM me your number and I can get your cookies over to you soon.

Cristi - glad you are feeling better and got well enough to go camping with the girls. My mom got home very late last night...but I saw them today so they are doing great!!! I will pm you.

I am so sorry that you were sick! I am glad that you are feeling better!

Cristi - glad you found me yesterday!!! I can't believe I forgot to tell you what side of the road I live in!!! Ooops, sorry!!!

Where is Selena, shouldn't she be back?

Hi guys, I'm back. I will have to go back and read what I missed later. Laundry awaits.

Cancun was heaven. Total heaven. Made "friends" with a couple guys down there that I plan on corresponding with. One was our concierge and the other was a salesman for a vacation club. We saw a lot and did totally amazing things. Have any of you ever visited Xcaret when you cruised on the Western? It was/is an excursion that you take a water taxi over to Cancun. It is a water park/eco park. You can swim with dolphins, visit a type of zoo, relax at the beach, swim and snorkel in an underground river. The river was amazing. It was so cool to think we were swimming underground through caves and waterfalls. At night they have a show sort of showing the evolution of Mexico starting with the Mayans. It was interesting. We took a tour to ChiChen Itza which is Mayan ruins. Swam in the resorts 5 pools, went to their shows, relaxed. Loved it! WE WILL GO AGAIN!

Anyone having trouble with the boards the last two days? I just can't seem to get on. At least you know I am alive and kicking.

Just went back to read everything.

Marcie, hope your mom is doing better now! I thought about you on your birthday and did in fact have a Malibu rum drink that Ted and I toasted to you. It was our first drink at the resort.

Selena, how was your cruise?

Cristi, Heidi told me that she has my cookies. How are you feeling?

Stephanie, loved the roses!

Jrsy, there was so much I wanted to comment on reading your trip report. Isn't Ian great? He really has a great personality. We have had him twice so far. I just loved you and the John Travolta ordeal! I love EE as well. We did the turn around ride thing, too. I have only done the 999,999 on Buzz once and I think it was just a fluke not talent for ME!! lol Gosh, there was more but can't remember. As soon as I log off, it will come to me.

I'm so glad that y'all had a great vacation! Cancun has beautiful water!

23dd is having her weddng at Dream's in Cancun. From the website it looks nice....

Dh isn't thrilled about paying for other people's vacations. :rotfl2: He felt better about it when I told him that he didn't have to pay for the groom's family and friends. :rotfl: :rotfl:

I am back. lol

We had a great time. The ship we were on was the smallest we have ever gone on. Jeff chose it for the convienece of the drive.

We had a blast. We meet a few coupled on CC and hung around them a bit.

Wednesday we had it to Jacksonville and had a nice Valentine's dinner in the hotel. The hotel was nice. It was the Clarion at the airport. We had this cool coffee maker in our room. I had wireless connections too. Then a very nice breakfast for free.

Only down side was I was told several times by reservation that they had a free on demand shuttle. It was NOT free and it was NOT on demand. I had mapquested the directions from the hotel to the port just in case. The hotel was going to charge us $80 round trip. We drove and it was only $48. Good thing about being parked at the port we were able to get off and go directly to our car and leave.

Thursday we woke up early and had breakfast. We went back to our room and packed up the few items we had unpacked. Then checked out and headed to the port. As usual it was exciting to see the ship. Jeff said it is small. lol

We met up with the CC people right off. Had lunch with Tresa and Steve. It was nice. We chatted for a while and made plans to meet up later.

On CCL they have 2 main seatings for dinner and two for the late. Jeff chose the 6:15 for us. It was a good time.

After getting in to our cabin we unpacked. I was amazed at the fact that our luggage was at our room by 1:00 pm. We were some of the first ones at the port so I guess that had something to do with it.

Then we roamed the ship a while. Before we knew it the time was there for us to get ready for dinner. We had a nice dinner. Wehad a table for 10 and only 8 of us came the first night.

While our tables mates were nice they complained alot about the size of the ship and the food. I told them hey if I do not have to cook it or clean it up it was good to me. I actually thought the food was good. Jeff did too. Plus even though it was only a 4 day they serve Lobster and it was really grand.

We had met up right before dinner with Tresa and Steve for some sushi and then later in the Casino. I am not a gambler so I watched and had a great time dong so.

Our first day was really nice. We were about to meet with new friends and I truly thought the ship was quite nice for it's age and size it was wonderful.

I had read on CC that some people thought it was an ugly ship and thought it was a really bad cruise. I have to say you can not compare it to a large ship. I had just as much fun on the Celebration that I had on the Freedom.

I look forward to going again.

I'm glad you had such a nice time! AND I think some people just like to complain. ;)
I'm with you -- if I don't have to cook or clean, I'm happy! LOL!

Welcome back Selena. Sounds like you had a great time!!! As long as I am somewhere where it is not cold and snowing I am good!!!! I could be on a life raft right now in the Caribbean and I would be happy.

Welcome back Selena! Sounds like a great trip. I agree with Stephanie, some people just like to complain.

Today is catching up day. I have approx 3 hours to get some errands done before Graci gets off from preschool. The bank and post office is my main things that need to be accomplished, after that it doesn't matter.

Jrsy, I await your "few anecdotes". Sounds like fun to say the least, coming from you! When Ted and I get back maybe we can have another dinner with everyone and save you the Cosmo postage! Jrsy, Cristi, Heidi are you up for another one? And then, we will have to do it again when we get back to transfer him on to Cristi. Do the rest of you have Cosmo plans for me to add to the front page?
Sandy, since I never responded to this, I was hoping that we could have dinner again now that Cosmo is in town. If no one else has plans for him, then we will hand him off to you and save about $20 in postage. BTW, I have uploaded the rest of Cosmo's pictures to his PhotoBucket page.

Ted and I have a free vacation to the Dominican Republic that we have to use within 18 months. All we have to pay is the airfare. Anyone have any tips???? Good grief, after looking at several airlines we will be travelling at least 17 hours with all the transfers and some of them it will be even more. Any ideas what time of year might be cheaper there? I do for a fact want to avoid hurricane season even if it means higher airfare. I don't want to let it go as it is all inclusive. Airfare will probably be about 1600 EACH roundtrip. So considering that it is still a great deal.

$3200 for 7 days sounds expensive to me....a Disney cruise is $1900 for 2 people in a Category 9..... I wouldn't even have a clue how to get there.

Thanks Heidi for helping me on the airlines to Dom. Rep. Why don't I ever remember TRAVELOCITY? .....and no I am not on crack!

Anyone out there familiar with Skype? We made friends with a wonderful guy in Mexico that wants us to download it so that we can talk to him. Just wondering about good vs bad regarding Skype.
