Cranberry or Pineapple?? Part 2

I had to wear my glasses today. My eyes are all red. That surgery is looking better all the time.

Good morning everyone! :surfweb:

I think you should go for it Marcie. I had the Wavefront done on me because of my large pupils. It is the newest procedure out there and it is more forgiving if your eyes move a little. The doctor told me that the surgery itself is the easiest part, that the hard part is keeping up with all of the drops you have to put in. There are two different drops that are 4 times a day for a week (antibiotic and anti inflammatory) and then there are these really thick moisturizing drops that you put in every 15-30 minutes the first day (while awake) and then moisturizing drops once an hour for the first week and I think I go to once every two hours for the second week and then four times a day for up to 6 months. Of course with the dry air we have here I will probably do more than the every two hours next week.

I went in last October to see if I was a candidate and once I found out I was told them I needed to wait until the first of the year so I could flex out the money from DH's check.

Wow that's a lot of drops to keep up with. I started using antibiotic drops last night. (The doc gave me 2 refills when I got pink eye right before our vacation so I didn't have to go back for a while). Maybe, in May after everything settles down I will go in for the consult. Then to figure out how to pay for it. I do have that dental credit card that they are accepting now for Lasik. But, i would have to call and ask them to up my limit. I know they do financing there too, I can look into that. I could just pay for it, but I want a new house more. So, I will see how it all works out. My life kinda goes on hold in the spring. Cristi I am so glad it's going so well for ya.

Wow that is a lot of drops. I would never make it since I am such a huge baby and won't even put Visine drops in my eyes.

Does anyone have an ING account?

Heidi is a big baby when it comes to eyedrops. Never saw anything like it.

Cristi, sounds like you are doing awesome. Don't worry. You didn't stop me. I would still do it no matter what you said!

Marcie, that is pretty cool that the dental credit can be used for lasik! LUCKY!!

Heidi, thanks for my signature picture!! Do you still have my name floating around somewhere that you could add?

Cristi - Did you get a referral so that you get $25 if you sign up? I was wondering because if anyone had one I would ask for them to refer me so that I can get $25 and the person who referred me could get $10!!!

Mom - ING is like an online savings account with a 4.5% rate.

Your welcome mom.

A very helpful DISer opened my eyes. I was going to put my tax refund check into my savings account for the wedding. Well my savings account only get like 2% interest so I read about ING being 4.5% and HSBC being 5.05% and when you need it you can transfer it to your checking account without penalties, everything is done online. Then a DISer commented since I don't need it for a year that I should put it into a CD for a year to get a better interest % and then switch it to ING or HSBC. But so far the best % at the the Credit Union and World Savings is 5.10% which isn't much higher than HSBC.

Aren't you worried about banking that way with the internet? How do you know it isn't a scam? I am so old fashion that it would scare me.

Nope, so many good revies on the Disboards about these places...they are FDIC insured.

Hi guys, I'm back and I can see! Everything went well. I was still pretty nervous though even with the adivan. They give you this stuffed dog to hold on to during the surgery so your hands have something to do. I was twisting poor Bowzer pretty good. :) DH got to watch the surgery from just outside room. He said it was pretty bizarre. The thing I wasn't expecting was the slight burning smell of the laser. That kind of freaked me out a little. We got home about 12:45 yesteday, I had a sandwich with my eyes closed and then slept until almost 5 pm. Even after that when I was up I kept my eyes closed a lot or squinted my way around. My eyes felt better with them closed. My left eye in particular had a very sandy, slightly burning sensation. This morning it is pretty much gone, although my right eye seemed to have the sandy feeling when I first got up. I have to leave in about 30 minutes to go for my first post-op appointment. I have these cool shades to wear in the sun. :cool2:

Oh yeah, I have had this weird metallic taste in the back of my mouth, do you think it is from the adivan?

Cristi, Jeff was in the room with me. I also had a stuffed animal to hold but I do not remember what kind. I do not remember and odor but I am not saying there was not one. I had my surgery 4 years ago so I may not remember.

The worse thing for me was the sandy and hot sauce feeling. My surgery was pretty long due to my vision and other issues so I knew up front that it would be rough. That is why I had the feeling of the sand and hot sauce for a longer period of time than most have. I will say it has been worth evey single dime I spent.

Each person will react in a different way. A few people at work had had the surgery and they could not understand why I was not back at work in a days time. Excuse me!! lol I had a dr note and there was no way I could open my eyes. Of course I work with a bunch of nosey busy bodies. lol

For me I had drops that had to go in my eyes every hour for 12 hours. They I had to do them 4 times a day.

Jrsy are you excited or what????

Heidi, thanks for my signature picture!! Do you still have my name floating around somewhere that you could add?

LOVE the pic!!! Is that the Duddettes with y'all???? Y'all should have been in our group shot!!!! :)

I need to figure out what to do with the money I'm saving for a house. My investment broker wants me to put it in Money Market but it's not FDIC. So I don't know about that. In the meantime it's only collecting 1 % interest because I can't decide. I am seriously thinking of just getting it in a 6 month CD for now. I need the money in a year or so.

Jrsy, that is so sweet about Alex. Y'all are going to have such a good time. :goodvibes

Alex said yesterday that he is so excited, he can feel it in his teeth.

In his teeth. Poor kid you should leave now!!

Seriously when are you leaving? Are you guys all packed? Are you cruising or doing Disney first?

You're from Colorado...

If you'll eat ice cream in the winter.

When the weather report says it's going to be 65 degrees, you shave your legs and wear a skirt.

It snows 5 inches and you don't expect school to be cancelled.

You'll wear flip flops every day of the year, regardless of temperature.

You have no accent at all, but can hear other people's. And then you make fun of them.

"Humid" is over 25%.

Your sense of direction is: Toward the mountains and Away from the mountains.

You say "the interstate" and everybody knows which one.

You think that May is a totally normal month for a blizzard, and you grew up planning your halloween costumes around your coat.

You know what the Continental Divide is.

You don't think Coors beer is that big a deal.

You went to Casa Bonita as a child.

You bought your car from John Elway.

You were tear gassed at college and you can't even remember why...something about football!

You've gone off-roading in a vehicle that was never intended for such activities.

You always know the elevation of where you are.

You know that there are two kinds of Colorado Girls: those who shave and those who don't.

You wake up to a beautiful, 80 degree day and you wonder if it's going to snow tomorrow.

You don't care that some company renamed it, the Broncos still play at Mile High.

You know that Colfax is a street you would most likely find a hooker.

You get pissed off when people confuse Colorado with Kansas, Nebraska, Wyoming, or "one of those other big square states out west."

When you hear that the Chiefs and the Raiders are having bad seasons, you laugh uncontrollably.

Every movie theater has military and student discounts.

Everybody wears jeans to church.

You actually know that South Park is a real place not just a show on TV.

You know what a "trust fund hippy" is, and you know its natural habitat is Boulder.

You've made naked snow angels.

You know you're talking to a fellow Coloradoan when they call it Elitches, not Six Flags.

You can never figure out why your out-of-town guests faint from altitude sickness on a picnic to the mountains.

Your two favorite teams are the Broncos and whoever is beating the crap out of the Raiders.

You know there are different types of snow, and you know not all types are good for sleeding, snowballs, or snowmen.

You've experienced shoveling a driveway, but once you finish, you have to start right over.

You've been to the original Chipotle near the DU campus on Evans.

When people out East tell you they have mountains in their state too, you just laugh.

You go anywhere else on the planet and the air feels "sticky" and you notice the sky is no longer blue.

We are taking the redeye next Thursday morning, doing WDW first and staying at POFQ. We aren't ALL packed, but we're started. You know how there are some things you just can't pack until the last minute. We still need to buy a few things, but nothing major.

We're too excited to sleep!
