My son used Craigslist to find the house he's currently renting.

I've looked at it every now & then.

My cousin bought a gorgeous living room set - which she got for a bargain.

She and her husband drove to the seller's location to pick it up.

My mom found a rental house on Craigslist, but I haven't had much luck with it. I never get a response back from people who have items for sale, and when I have listed items, I've gotten weird responses from people who want to "barter" instead. I'd be careful!

We used it this past summer when we realized we'd need an acoustic guitar for my son's upcoming guitar class at his high school.

Got a very nice one, retails for $350, for $85 with very nice carrying case and tuner, because the seller (also a boy my son's age) had moved exclusively to the electric guitar for his jazz band stuff.

I called his mom who'd listed it for him, we chatted, I got directions to her house, and made a new friend.

Most sellers will want to meet at a neutral location and you should go with your gut when you talk to them. If something seems fishy, best to keep looking. But their are success stories, too.

DS used Craigslist to find both of his apartments. I've used it to sell some furniture. I've never bought anything.

I got a great loft bed for my son on craigslist. That's the only time I've used it. I have lots of things that I've considered selling, but I just don't want strange people coming to my house to pick them up.

I've got an old rocker that hold laundry very nicely, but I'd like to let it go.

If I sold it, I'd definately like dh to be there to witness the $$$ transaction.

(I even searched in California Gold. That worked o.k, for a while)

A working girl placed an add on craigslist with the place and time to meet her at a restaurant bar in the next town over. What she was selling was illegal and got her arrested.

I use it all the time. Buying and selling. I've sold everything from kitchen stuff to our van. We bought our Suburban off of there too, bought it private party from a family that was selling everything and moving to south america, got it for 10k under blue book!

I guess I'm so used to Ebay. There you see the sellers positives whereas craigslist is so ... so neked. Some of the descriptions are so vague too. Are you limted verbage wise?

Hiya, Lil Blue! My hubby just got rid of a barely used mattress that we never liked and had been storing in our basement by listing it on craigslist, but he advertised it as being free because it was a bit musty (even though it was wrapped in plastic) and had the people haul it out themselves.

He got a response almost immediately and they took it away the day after they contacted him

Craigslist doesn't get used nearly as much in my town as in some bigger towns, but this weekend we bought a gorgeous dining set from a very nice couple on the other side of town. They even delivered it for free! I'm very happy!!!

We use craigs all the time to rent our house and also to sell kids stuff.

Dh has bought car parts too.

I've used Craigslist to find 2 apartments, find someone to sublet one of my apartments to, sell all my extra furniture in Phoenix, and bought some furniture in San Diego. Definately go with your gut feeling - most people are normal and very nice, I've gotten blown off once or twice.

Also found a few jobs on there paying pretty well too...If anyone's college age girls are looking for work, try in the events section. I was a Miller Lite girl and various other beers for $25 - $30 an hour...found on Craigslist!

So, I've had really good luck with it. I try to make sure someone's home if people are coming over to pick stuff up though.

I found a job using Craigslist before and have several friends who were successful with as well. One of my friends has sold quite a lot through them (remodeled her kitchen and got rid of all her old appliances), but I never have.

Just use common sense. There are scammers and perverts out there.

I sold my microwave on there and it went pretty fast but the next day the crazy lady called me back wanting her money back saying it was to big for her counter top

If I ever sell anything again I will make sure they know whenever they leave my house that's it. Sold as is !

By the way I wouldn't take it back for that stupid reason but it still made me feel bad the whole day.

Us Californians swear by Craigslist But then again, it was created for San Francisco initially.

You can definitely find some weirdos - I was doing a roommate search the other day and found an ad that a man had posted to share his room with a female.

It stated, "birth control a plus"
