is it worth fixing? How much $$ will it cost?
dd13 left her folder on bathroom sink and she left her ipod in it. dh goes in and yells for dd , he grabs her folder to give it to her and out flys the ipod the screen is a lil shattered on top right corner and a crack downward

any advice? If we go through apple will they fix it or give us a refurbished one? my friend said she heard if you go through apple to replace your iphone screen they replace with refurbished one.

Sorry cannot help you with the ipod, but I dropped my ipad last week, went to the Apple store and they will replace it with a new one for $250.
Hope that helps a little.

Stopped by an Apple store with my daughters iPod, with a cracked screen and they replaced it with a brand new one, for $100. Make sure you back it up before you go, so you can receive the replacement right away. We didn't think of it and had to make another trip back to pick up the replacement.

Are you sure it was new? Usually the replacements are refurbished models, not new.

You can buy a new glass for the screen online and install it yourself using directions found on YouTube. It cost about $25 for the parts. Do a search.

We also brought a broken Ipod to the Apple store. For $99 we were given a "new" one (I have no idea if it was new or refurbished, but it was the same generation and color - newest one with camera, white). For the $99 - we received only the Ipod, no headphones or power cord.

I had stopped at a couple places before the Apple store and received quotes in the $120 range for repair.

I sent mine to some place in Baltimore, MD and they replaced the screen on my 3rd generation for like $60. We need to send in my 4th generation ipod touch and they'll fix the screen which will cost me $80. They fixed it fast and it was back to me within a week.

Last week we took my son's Ipod to the Apple store and they gave us another one for $100. and I'm sure it was a reburb.. Looks brand new though.

NO NO NO, don't get another one! My son fixes the kids at school's cracked ipod and iphones. The kit is $30 to fix, gives you a new front and back. The screws are tiny but other than that it is easy.

Or find a kid that fixes them at school.

Where do you get the kit? My dd dropped hers and the front screen is cracked and splintered.

i found an article that mentioned buying a kit from amazon but not sure if there are several different types of kits and what to buy. We found the youtube video and dh said he might have to go that route. Dh asked a friend that had his cracked iphone screen fixed and was told the guy charges $90 to fix.

Dh wants to know wheres the best place to buy the kit for cheap. i just got home so havent check amazon or anywhere else. thanks for any help and tips. It does look like a lot of work to replace and patients is a must-lol! If i can find a place for $50 and under id pay it. The ipod was given free to dd for a promotion through her ortho dr. since she got braced during the time she did she got a free ipod touch screen 4th generation. I just dont want to pay $100 and get back a refurbished one and $100 is a lot to pay for now

If you turn your Ipod over to anyone other than your husband. Make sure you back it up, and you set it back to factory defaults before you send it in or turn it over to anyone. So nobody can get your data off of it. I am sure there are emails, texts, or contacts information that you won't want to leak out. Even if is a friend at school that fixes it. Repeat, reset to factory defaults before turning it over to anyone. Depending on email account settings get those passwords and settings before you reset it.

But according to my knowledge,Apple will usually replace ipod with a refurb one. The refurbed one will have a new screen and battery. Also they will take the refurb one and erase everything that is one it and make sure software is up to date. Also I think the refurb comes with maybe a small warrantly like 30 days. Then your daughters ipod will get refurbed and they will sell it to somebody else. This way you normally get one back within a week. Instead of waiting weeks to get it repaired.

My son's iPod Touch hit the corner of a nightstand while we were on vacation in Chattanooga a few weeks ago, and the screen cracked. I had bought a Square Trade warranty on it when it was new, and filed a claim. They sent me a pre-paid UPS label, we shipped it out and they fixed it and sent it back. It took about 2 weeks total. And it was covered under the warranty (I had the extra coverage for accidents). The cost of the warranty was less than $50 - well worth it!

We have square trade warranties on all apple products. My daughter broe the charging connecter on her iPod touch. We leave tomorrow so we went to the apple store today.

Walked out with a new/ refurb for $99.00.

Luckily, I just made backups to the cloud yesterday!
