Just wondering if anyone has tried this diet? I ordered the book yesterday and all the people (well almost all) on Amazon said it worked for them or is working.
Nothing seems to work anymore and DH and I want to lose more weight before our cruise next month.

Since it seems no one has tried this diet, I will report in with results.
I ordered the book and expect it to arrive soon, hopefully today.

It is an 8 week program. The first week is high protein. It limits you to 20 grams of carbs per day. This will be tough. After that, you cycle between high carb days, low carb days and another kind ( I don't remember what they called it). Once you have been on the program for around 3 weeks, you get 2 cheat days as well where you can eat what you want until you are satisfied.

We will see.

I've never heard of it but sounds interesting. I'll be checking back on this thread to see your results. Good luck! :)

I just checked our local library and they dont' seem to have it :( I am always interested in ready new books on weight loss. I never follow any of them, just take what I like from them and add them to what I do already.

I am on the waitlist for the book at our library. I am number 9 in line for it. That is why I ordered it. The book just came out in July I think.

DH and I started this diet this morning. I will keep you posted.

I got the book and it is interesting reading. I just hope it does what it says it will do.

The first week is nothing but protein and veggies (green). The following weeks is a combination of carb up days, carb down days and baseline days.

Day 1: Had lots of yummy proteins, like eggs, chicken and hamburger. I got to have real salad dressing on my lettuce and cucumber salads. I got to eat full fat cottage cheese. I did forget to make the broccoli with dinner though so I am hungry, but I get to have my protein shake in an hour. If I want to stay up until 1 am, I can have scrambled eggs at 11 PM. Your last meal has to be 2 hours before bed. I have not been starving, but I have been surprisingly hungry when the next "meal" came around. You eat every 3 hours. Some of the food is really a snack, like the cottage cheese which was only a 1/2 cup.

Looking foward to day 2.

Another good day. Not hungry, lots of yummy food.

It takes 72 hours to deplete your system of glycogen. So, sometime tomorrow we should start burning fat. You are supposed to feel the "shift" at this time. You feel run down and then you get lots of energy. That is when you are burning the fat.

Still doing well and not hungry.

The hardest part so far has been eating every 3 hours and cooking 3 out of 5 meals. It is just really time consuming. It might be easier with a microwave though.

The recipes in the book have been very tasty. We had a turkey taco salad for lunch. DH and I are not taco fans, but it was really good.

Tomorrow and Tuesday will be challenging as we won't be home. We can eat our omlets in the morning and our snack before we go, but then we will need to get creative as to how we are going to get the appropriate foods in. At least the room at the resort has a fridge and microwave.

I feel thinner today, but I will wait until Wednesday to weigh myself. Then I will weigh again on Saturday to get total weight lost this week. Eight to ten pounds seems to be the average, but we will see.

I am not taking my computer so I won't be able to report on day 4.

Hopefully the shift to burning fat will happen tomorrow. It is supposed to be a distinct feeling of being run down so we will see.

I know those of you reading are just waiting to see if I lose any weight and how much.

I'm really interested to see how you do on this. Be sure to keep us posted and good luck! :)

Well, I went through the "switch" yesterday and DH is going through it today. My head just felt goofy all day like I needed protein but that is all we have been eating. Burn fat, burn!

It was a challenge doing this away from home for a night, but we did. I was not craving carbs until I saw them all and then I wanted them. We ate burgers without the bun and took our blender with us so we could have our protein shake last night. Our breakfast was inluded in the package we got and we were able to have omelets, but couldn't eat the toast of hashbrowns.

There are 2 days left on the carb deplete cycle and then we can start adding back carbs. We will start with "power oatmeal" on Friday. It contains protein powder.

I am going to weigh myself in the morning and see if I lost anything since last week and then on Saturday morning to see how much, if any I lost on the carb deplete week.. This is the week where you are supposed to see the biggest results.

I have to say it is tough eating every 3 hours, but we managed even at an indoor water park.

Today is the last day of the carb deplete cycle. Tomorrow we start the macro-patterning cycles.

I weighed myself yesterday and I had lost 2 pounds in 1 week. It isn't much but I hope to lose a few more by Saturday when I weigh myself again. DH on the other hand lost 5 pounds.

I am looking forward to the next phase when I have more food choices. I am kinda tired of all this meat every day! I am also tired of being so carb conscious. Keeping your carbs to under 20 grams isn't easy!

The recipes have been yummy to this point. At least you don't feel like you are eating diet food! You certainly don't feel deprived either. I have not been hungry this week except at meal time. We are not addicted to carbs, so it may have been a bit easier going through this first week. I refused to give up my cup of tea in the morning, but I found that 2 Tbsp of half-n-half only have 1 carb. I always use Splenda, so I wasn't giving up sugar. I will be happy when I can go back to my flavored creamers though!

We "got" to eat oatmeal. I am not a fan of oatmeal, but I ate it anyway. We were supposed to have mashed potatoes at lunch, but I was still full from the oatmeal that we skipped a meal for the first time and will eat dinner. I think we ate too m uch oatmeal.

Tomorrow is a carb down day and I will weigh myself in the morning. I think I lost more weight, but only the scale will tell.

Sorry folks, but I didn't weigh myself on Saturday. I will weigh in on Wednesday.

Yesterday was a carb-up day and we got to have pasta for dinner and chips and salsa for our snack. We also had a bagel for breakfast.

it is still hard to eat so often and it definitely is not condusive to brown-bagging. We are trying to work around it for DH.

DH and I have been on this diet for almost 2 weeks. He has lost 5 pounds and I have only lost 2.

Problems: Too much food!
Eating to often
Not brown-bag friendly

Positives: Get to eat food we don't normally eat
Good recipes
Good premise

The author wants you to eat up 6 meals a day or every 3-4 hours. DH and I have been eating 5. Two of the meals are really snacks. We just can't eat that much, but we wanted to follow the diet to the letter. We have decided that starting today, we are only going to eat 4 meals. Three, plus a snack. The minimum number of meals she wants you to eat is 4. The other problem is we haven't been getting to go for our daily hour-long walk. DD has been sick and we have been very busy.

So, we are hoping that with the deletion of one meal and the addition of our walk we will lose the weight.

If I were to start over, I would start with the 4 meals and only add the 5th if I was feeling extra hungry.

We are going to continue this diet until we go on our cruise in 2 weeks so we will have 4 of the 8 weeks completed. We will probably have to start over when we get back from vacation.

I will post again when I see how our new way of doing this is going.

Very interesting. I'll have to follow along to see how this works for you.

Right now I am so happy I didn't have to eat that turkey and cheese snack!

I am hungry, but it won't be long until pancakes for dinner. It is a carb-up day.

Here I am partway through week 3.

I was able to wear a skirt yesterday for my DD's birthday party that I couldn't wear before. I still have a bunch more weight to lose but I am still trying.

I can say that I am so tired of chicken and broccoli, cucumbers and lettuce. We have eaten more cucumbers in the past 2 weeks than we have in our entire 17 years of marriage!

It is nice that the diet is flexible. As I mentioned, yesterday was DD's 6th birthday party. I arranged it so it was a carb-up day so we could have buns with our bratwurst, potato salad and cake and ice cream. You aren't supposed to have sweets and alcohol until after day 21, but this was special. So, I had both! Friday and today were both carb-down days.

We have been getting back into our walking routine. We wear pedometers. I have been trying to get 12-15000 steps per day. DH gets more. Since we couldn't go on our walks, we were really slacking in that department. Hopefully that will help the weight to come off.

I will weigh myself tomorrow before we leave for our WDW vacation.

The last few days we haven't followed the diet as closely since we needed to clean out the fridge.

We won't really be following the diet on vacation, but we will use some of the principles.

When we get back, we will start again with some modifications. I just can't eat chicken that often!
