We are a family of 4 trying to decide the pros/cons of staying at CR vs. CBR. Our girls will be 14 and 11 yrs. at the time of our travel (late Dec). We like the theme of CBR, and the idea of the new pool. We do not like the double beds (would need a roll-a-way...if avaliable). At CR, we like being close to the MK, and the monorail. But the only avalible rooms during our stay are garden rooms. Any one stay at either resort have any opinions??? We need to decide soon! Thanks!:goodvibes

Personally I would go with the Contemporary and there is nothing wrong with the Garden Wing rooms. Their rooms are among the largest on WDW property and it's a less then 5 minute walk to the Tower. Besides that you will have use of the Monorail anytime you want to use it and the walkway to the Magic Kingdom. If you want anymore information here is a link to the Contemporary FAQ thread. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1710920

I would have to say that CBR is my least favorite of all the resorts. When we stayed at CBR, we were just a family of 3 and it was a tight squeeze. We'll never stay there again.

We have stayed at both and prefer the CBR, love the theming, the food court and gift shop. We did the CR once in 05, in the north wing for $137 a night. I didnt like the resort at all, the only cool thing was the monorail. Even if I got that price again I dont think we would stay there again.

We've stayed in both a Garden Wing room at CR and at CBR. I would choose the CR over CBR anytime our budget would allow. The size of the room and being on the monorail balance out a less themed pool for us. We also have 2 daughters, and once they were older a little more elbow room was always a valuable asset! Have fun whichever you decide!

I love CBR, its my favorite moderate and the rooms are pretty spacious (and larger than the other mods). I love the tropical theming and the new pool will just add to the overall pro's of that resort.

All that said, having an even larger room on the monorail with a daybed would be pretty nice. Although CBR is more centrally located so if the MK isn't your overall emphasis, CBR's location would be very good. Is really close to Epcot and MGM.

It's really hard to compare the two resorts, they are so different! But if you like things like interior corridors, room service, queen sized beds and a balcony, than CR would obvioulsy be the better choice. And probably why most people will steer you towards that resort! Just know that CBR is a lovely resort and the room size was fine for my family of four for our nine nights there in December of 2006.

I can't attest to the difference in a Garden Wing room vs. Tower room except that if they are larger and you have two daughters that age, extra space is never bad! I do have to say, I would miss the theming of the CBR, all the lush landscaping, the seven pools, the colorful villages and having a food court. But being walking distance to MK and having the daybed would be awfully nice.

If you go with CBR, they do have rollaways, I think they average out to around $17 a night. I generally take an airbed that has an electric pump when I stay at the mods. Its paid for itself many times over and during the day it can be propped up against the wall or shoved under the bed (as long as the bed isn't on a platform, CBR's beds were not the last time we stayed there).

In all you cannot make a bad choice!

I agree, CBR is my least favorite resort. I'd pick CR in a heartbeat over CBR.

We love the CBR, we have not stayed at CR, and if we did the only way we would is if we had MK View, I'm sure the others are nice, but the price would have to be worth the view. CBR is only 4 sq. ft. smaller than the Wilderness Lodge, so it is not that small, it is the largest of the moderates. The pool is being redone right now and the pictures of it look fabulous. My DDs can't wait to go in it.

I like to feel like I am still in Disney when I leave the parks. I like to sit on my balcony after a long day with my hubby (Kids a sleep inside) with a glass of wine and listen to the dog's howling from the HM and the ferry's horns leaving the MK. It is an experience you can only have if you stay on the monorail...in my opinion. ;)

I've never stayed at CR but it feels so "hotel-like" to me. So sterile and uninviting . Just my opinion. I would think preteen girls would enjoy CBR much more. It has a nicer feeling - more like a resort not a hotel. The lush landscaping is beautiful and the theming of the food court is fun. With kids that age it isn't like the only park you'll go to is MK, so close proximity to that park isn't essential. I would have them look at pictures of both and decide.

Close call, I've been at both. While I enjoyed the larger rooms (North Wing), monorail and shops at CR the pool and grounds were very bland. Like one person said it feels like a hotel instead of a resort. For my money CBR is far less expensive and as a moderate comes pretty close to the CR. It has beautiful grounds, a nice pool and is so relaxing. If you really like the idea of a monorail inside a hotel choose CR otherwise do CBR.
