What are the advantages of CR versus Poly? My DH, and two teen DDs and I are planning our annual WDW vacation. We have stayed at the Swan concierge many times (teachers' rate) :teacher: ; Boardwalk; and many years ago CBR and Poly. For this visit I want to stay on the monorail with concierge. We always have fun visiting the CR and I love the looks of the new rooms. However, the Poly looks so relaxing. Is this like trying to compare apples and oranges? Which do you like better and why? DH keeps reminding me how great the heavenly beds are at the Swan and the convenience to EPCOT plus the teachers' rate which can't be beat. I just love the idea of being on the monorail. The girls don't like GF--too adult and stuffy. Any help would be ever appreciated. :wave2:

We prefer Poly over CR (unless they start revamping the non-tower rooms) and offer better quality food at Chef Mickey's and Concourse Steakhouse.

No-one can beat the quality of CA Grill! Magnifico!

We would take the CR tower over the Poly any day....don't get me wrong the Poly is great....but we LOVE the rooms and views from the CR tower....now that they are upgrading the tower club to atrium club and making it full concierge I would take it in a heartbeat.

Guilty! Another CR lover. Actually adore both. Poly was great when I was under about 13yo, and wanted to play in the pool and on the beach. As I got older the CR was more exciting - cool arcade (actually had air hockey) and the view in the tower of the monorail and Chef Mickeys. Always gets me going in the morning. And honestly, the walk to the main house at the Poly got a bit tiresome. It's easy to walk to the TTC from the poly, but you can walk to the MK from the CR and the TTC is the first monorail stop.

Have stayed in the poly, but not the CR - although i have visited and eaten there many times. For me, every resort has it's advantages and disadvantages. I for one would love to stay in CR tower -the views must be astounding. Here is my take on the two resorts:

Theming - poly wins hands down - beautiful and relaxing.

Dining: Dining at poly is nice and i love ohana, but contemp has chef mickeys and CG - must do's of mine for each trip and it must be great to wake up in the tower room and go straight to chef mickeys.

Shopping - Contemp wins hands down. i don't rate the poly shopping at all - the contemp has my favourite shops in the whole of the wdw resorts.

Transportation - both have an edge - monorail to MK for both. Poly has monorail to Epcot, but Contemp has walk to Mk

Funny really - my partner has never visited before but he saw pics and hated the contemp - however, when we explored the tours of the resorts on the WDW website, he actually decided he liked it. But, he still wants to try the poly first. I will stay there one day.

Anyway, I suppose - transportation - draw. Theming - poly. Amenities: Contemp.

Good luck deciding - it's tough but i don't think you can make a bad choice in wdw.

We've stayed at CR 2 times and Poly only once but I love the theme of the Polynesian best. I would love to do Concierge at either one, but again I like the Poly theme most!

Have a Great Trip wherever you stay. :bounce:

We stayed Poly conceirge 3 years ago and just returned from the CR tower last week,. We were on the 11th floor , MK view. LOVED, LOVED, LOVED the CR resort.

The only advantage the Poly has over the CR is the pool. But the views you get from that tower outweigh anything the Poly has to offer.

Those CR Tower views are really calling out to me. Thanks to all who responded. You're right--how can we go wrong with either. The Poly fans seem so dedicated. It's nice to hear from CR fans. :sunny:

When I first saw this thread, I was certain that all of your responses were going to be for the Poly based on other threads I have read. I thought I would be the only CR lover! I say the CR based on a Tower Room only. I would stay back here in a heartbeat. To simply take an elevator to the monorail was so cool. Love the shopping, Chef Mickey's, and California Grill.

Also, the fact that you can WALK back to the resort after a long day and VERY long transportation lines can't be beat. I, too, vote for the CR!

FYI, the new rooms at the Polynesian supposedly have their own version of the heavenly bed. Plus you can walk to TTC and get on the monorail to Epcot. If you'll be spending a lot of time at MK, maybe the walk from CR will win out, but otherwise I'd say the transportation is better from the Polynesian.

have not been to CR but having stayed at the Poly and visited CR and ate there I can say, if you can afford a MK VIEW at CR it is probably very cool, I bet the castle is gorgeous from up there but to me, it does not have a resort feel, it has a train depot feel...loud rushed and stuffy...I do not like the non renovated rooms either.

The Poly is a different experience and my DD's and DH LOVED the Poly...you can sit and swim in the awesome volcano pool and watch Wishes every night. You feel like you are in Hawaii. The concierge were woonderful and the new rooms are GREAT!!! Garden view at the Poly, in Fiji was what I would consider lagoon view as we could see the lagoon and GF from our tropical paradise!

I would maybe consider the CR one day but it would take a lot to get me away from that tropical paradise feel!!
