This is my situation: We've always stayed at the CR and totally love this resort! We were spoiled the last time we stayed in the Tower rooms and so that is what we have booked for our early December trip.

Our reasons other than obvious for staying at the CR are #1 ease of getting to the MK as that will probably be where we will spend most of our time and we will also have my 75 yr old parents with us and they say there's nothing like getting off the monorail and getting to your room in just a few short minutes. I totally agree with them and it's real convienient if they want to meet us at MK or if they want to go back to the resort by themselves. Because of their age they don't want to have to walk far to get to their room

The only thing that led us to consider the Poly is we are really hoping that somehow the FTP will be extended for our time and especially those Tower rooms! If it is'nt our Dreams agent said we could also consider Poly with a room close to the monorail.I have visited Tikimans website and have decided that if we were to stay there we would probably want to stay at Hawaii longhouse -- but I know it's concierge and don't even know how much more this would be but we would want to stay somewhere facing the lagoon and would'nt these be a further distance from the monorail??

The main consideration is the walking distance but if it's not that bad we would consider it. We
just don't want to be in a Garden view room.

The other thing is that CR is really like home to us and as much as I would like to try a new resort we totally love and know our way around here! #2 reason also is we have the CR mugs from a previous trip and if we're able to use them this would save some money. We also for my DH and DD love the path walkway to MK and I think that is what keeps us staying there too because it's even quicker than hopping on the monorail when going to the MK.

All in all the biggest factors are price closeness of room for my parents and closeness to MK. We are really hoping to get some sort of discount on either the Tower rooms or something at the Poly because the price we have right now is pretty high.

Also we will be doing Chef Mickey's but if we went with the poly we would probably want to stay there and do Ohana's. Was wondering how it compares to Chef Mickey's??

If anyone could help with their opinions or input I would appreciate it-- the cost and package availability will probably sway us the most I just need someone to help me choose!!
:)
Thanks a bunch!!

I had this dilemma too. CR vs. Poly
We are going in Oct. CR with FTP was $1964 garden/standard. And Poly with FTP was $2321 standard.
We have stayed at Poly....and LOVE it.....our favorite!
But...I've always wanted to try CR.....and got a great rate. But DH was not sold on CR. So just checking other resorts....they had one room left with FTP.
So for $350 more we could stay at our favorite!!
I went for Poly! DH doesn't know yet though! It will be a surprise!!

Thanks cindyfan!

Appreciate your prices for the FTP's. Now I'm just praying that the Tower rooms will be available for the FTP when we go. We really want to stay at the CR-- We just love it there. The monorail is never crowded when you get on because it's the first stop and you get back to the resort so fast with it being the first stop on the way back! I'm hoping they will extend the FTP for our time frame soon!!!:bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

Princess Crazy, Hi!!

We just returned on June 7th. We did 4 nights at CR and 4 nights at Poly. Here's what I think:

We have stayed at CR twice before. This trip we were upgraded to an 8th floor tower room overlooking MK. WOW!! We also love the CR. We did bring our refillable mugs and it was great to just hop on those lightning-fast elevators and be at the FFC for my coffee early in the morning. Walking to MK is a priority for us also. The night we saw Spectro we just walked back. The line for the monorail was extremely long. I found the bus service better at the CR than at the Poly. The buses start at CR and then go over to Poly. The day we went to Blizzard Beach the bus was standing room only by the time it got to us at the Poly. (The bus goes to AK and BB).

I have 2 girls ages 7 and 10. The only thing they liked better at the Poly was the pool. It really was very nice. While the resort is lovely and I would stay there again, CR feels like home to me. We were in the Samoa building, facing the volcano pool. It was a perfect location and I did have a view of the lagoon as well. It only took a few minutes to walk to GCH. Probably the same amount of walking as my walk at the CR to the FFC. We did walk back from the TTC and that was nice. The girls liked looking for little animals.

I didn't like the room at the Poly as much as the CR. The CR rooms may be ugly, but they are roomier. You know how you get that long dresser at CR - you only get an armoire at the Poly, so not a lot of room to put things on. The table at the CR is much bigger also. Our family of 4 fit there just fine to eat. At the Poly, I needed to keep food on the table, and it was only a small round table so only my 2 girls could sit there to eat. Also, the bathroom area I did not like at all. It is very dark. I had to leave the shower curtain open so that I could see to shave my legs. There was only one sink and it is one big bathroom. There is not a door separating the toilet area from the sink area.

We have stayed on Disney property five times. Dixie Landings; GF; then GF and CR; CR; and now CR and Poly. My husband picks the CR tower over Poly and so do I. My DD 10 picks CR over Poly - except for the pool. And my DD 7 picks Poly because she is a pool fiend.

If you decide to not stay at Poly, you should definitely go over there and eat and take a walk around the grounds and see how you like it. It really is pretty.

Good luck,

Anna

I'd vote for staying at the CR - you love the rooms, shopping etc., and stop at the Poly one day to eat at Ohana's or Kona and take a look around. Either way it will be great!

OK-- I think you've all convinced me to just stay with the CR--that's really where we wanted to stay anyway and I was wondering if we would be spoiled with those big rooms at the CR and then not be happy--buyers remorse!

I know the poly is great but from what I've been reading here it can be quite a walk to some of the buildings and my parents would'nt enjoy that too much. We really do love the option of walking to MK. We too, several times just walked back to the resort when we decided we did'nt want to wait in those monorail lines! And plus there's nothing like not having to scramble for seats when we get on it at the resort because the CR is the first stop!!

Now I just need a ton of pixie dust and most importantly prayers for the FTP to be extended for our timeframe to be able to make this trip! It would be such a surprise to our 5yr old DD--we've been telling her it's not going to happen!! :bounce:  :bounce:  :bounce: ;)

Princess crazy,

Sounds like you made your decision--good for you! We are trying to decide between Poly and CR for our next trip too. I am so torn. We really didn't spend a lot of time at the resort last time (we kind of do the commando-style park touring!:D )

I am wondering what the pool areas are like at CR? Are they just your basic pool? Do you know of any pictures of it anywhere?

Thanks!

Have fun planning!
