CR North Wing Demolition

I just wanted to post pictures of the CR's north wing being demolished. I took these pictures yesterday 2-8-07.

Two of our boat captains said a DVC resort was going to be built there. I asked them if they were sure about that as I had heard conflicting reports. One said that was what he was told to say if anyone asked. Neither of them had heard of the disboards so at least we know they didn't get their "facts" from here. I think it is safe to say that a new building will be going in that spot but will it be a Disney resort or a DVC resort???????????

It definitely does not look like a renovation possiblity anymore. When we took the Innovations in Action tour last Sept the Disney Institute guides were very clear in a statement that Disney was not planning expansion of regular resorts or building new regular resorts but that there were definite plans for future DVC expansion. At that point someone asked where and they said they couldn't/wouldn't say as they valued their jobs too much.

Hey fellow RI'er.

Seems that Disney likes to control rumors just enough to keep the dreams alive, and then likes to squash them to create excitement when and where THEY choose to release it. Makes for a buying frenzy. I know when I spoke to my guide this week to do my AKV add on, he said they were swamped since the AKV launch. Like feeding time on the Savanna.

Very interesting. When they did the South wing renovation it did not involve demolition of the external shell.

We stayed in the north wing last April for a conference. It most definately needed refurbishment. This is even better. Personally I would be very happy to see both wings demolished. Those wings never looked right in my opintion.

If they rebuild I hope it is different from the horseshoe shaped high rise that was circulating for a while as a DVC rumor. I just don't see how you put that with an A-frame and get a consistent theme. And with all the money they sank into the A-frame renovation I suspect it is going to be there for some time.

Take the most valuable piece of land at WDW. Add 100,000 members trying to find any other plans for this land except the DVC tower building widely reported.

Watch the North wing get demolished. Remember the Disney lie about the refurbishing of the north wing. Read the expansive and expensive engineering study to support this plan, again remembering that no one has found any other plan.

See the Vacation Club trying to introduce AKV without the noise of another introduction.

Sometimes 1 + 1 just equals 2. The Contemporary Villas are coming. Bank on it. Also bank a little extra money for your add on.

When we first saw the demolition, I told my DH that I had to take pictures for my Disboard friends because whether the north wing was going to be refurbished or demolished had been discussed so much. They are taking their time with the demolition though so as not to create too much dust around the CR. When they do tear down a piece, they have a guy with a hose watering down the dust.

You know, this is getting old, they removed the asbestos prior to demolition, why is that so hard to believe.

And if you are so much in the know, when is DVC going to be built there and when are they going to announce it.
