CR Garden Wings

I made a CR ressie yesterday and could only afford the garden wing rooms. Is there a big difference between the North and South Wings? Which is closest to the monorail and the walkway to MK?

I just read that you have to walk a while to get to some of the hotel amenities? How long of a walk is it? Do you have to go outside and then reenter the main building?

How far are the Garden rooms from the pool, especially the kiddie pool?

there is no difference in the rooms just the location they are both detached from the main tower and you do have to walk outside to get to the main building. the walk is about a minute long not really a big deal. the game room and food court are in the main building as well as all the restaurents. the pool is closest to the south tower. there is no kiddie pool at the cr. there is a large pool shaped like mickey and a small round pool by the bay but neither one is a kiddie pool they both have deep water in the middle.the monorail is in the main tower so you will have to walk there to catch it. i havent stayed in the wings but i did do laundry there and the walk from the tower was no big deal. i have read on hear people who love the wings and people who absouloutly hate them . guess you have to see for your self. the main thing about the cr is convience you cant beat the monorail being right at your door step. we loved everything about the hotel and plan on returning next year. im sure you wont be dissapointed

My family stayed in the North Garden Wing this October. Our room was the third from the end closest to the Magick Kingdom. It was kind of a hike to the main building and pool, but very close to the MK walkway. In fact, I didn't buy a refilable mug because I didn't want to hike that far to get my pop! Yes you do have to walk outside to get to the main building, but the walkway is covered.I know many people do not like this hotel, but my family loved it! It was wonderful to be able to make a quick trip to MK without the hassle of waiting for a boat or a bus. We didn't use the kiddie pool because it seemed to be inhabited by ducks. But my 4yr old niece seemed to enjoy the big pool, especially the slide!

yes, the North wing is closest to Mk...just a few minutes walk. North wing is also a little closer the the Fiesta Grill and Game Room (located just inside the main tower).

The wing rooms and tower rooms - as posted earlier, aren't really different, if I recall correctly.

It's not a long walk to the Monorail stop...no longer than the walk to bus stop you'd have at other resorts.

We stayed in both wings and thought the South one was in better shape. It's also closer to the pool if that's important to you.

I"ll add this to what everybody else said: the Garden Wing water views are the most underrated in WDW. We stayed at the North Garden Wing in June facing Bay Lake, first floor. The tranquility and serenity were unrivalled. We would open our patio and the lake was literally 20 feet away. It was great to get a morning cup of coffee or late-night drink while the lake lapped at the sand.

Actually on this very web site if you look at the resort it lists a kiddie pool. Is this wrong?

Just some additional info ...

The North Garden Wing is close to the bus stop, the playground, and the tennis courts.

The Food and Fun Center has a back entrance that's only a few steps from the NGW.

Located next to the "Mickey-shaped" pool (the one with the slide), there's a small kiddie splash area that has water jets that shoot out of the ground.

As already stated - the North Wing is closer to MK than the rest of the CR. When I stayed there earlier this year I noticed that the walk to my ROOM from MK gates was only about twice as long as the walk to the farthest bus stop (didn't notice which resort that was for). That meant I was back in my North Garden Wing room before guests at some other resort even had a glimpse of their bus! Of course they'd have another walk waiting for them when they got off their bus, too.

One other difference between North and South wings - I think North is non-smoking only, while some of the rooms in South wing allow smoking.

Any one know how hard it is to get a North Wing room? We will be there March 17th through March 20th. Our checkout day is exactly one week before Easter, so I'm hoping the crowds won't be too bad.

I know they list a kiddie pool but ther is not one. Unless it is hidden somewhere. there is the main pool and the quiet pool (thats what they call it) but no kiddie pool. I think i read somewhere that they used to have one but got rid of it. So like I said unless it is hidden somwhere we saw no kiddie pool. they do give out lifejackets if you want and ther are 4 lifeguards watching the pool at all times.

The playground is the location where the kiddie pool used to be located.

For Thanksgiving weekend, we booked a Garden Standard View. My faxed request was for a room in the North Wing. We had room 7110 (which faced the water, but was not right on the water.) It was a very short walk from the lobby. The playground was straight out from our patio and the pool was not a long walk away. Walking to MK was a breeze.

Will they allow 5 in a CR room? How is the bedding set up? Are there small refridgerators in the rooms? Thanks!

Yes they accommodate 5 in a room - 2queen beds and a daybed. Fridges should be available I'd think being that CR is a deluxe resort and they now have them in all the moderates - I'll let ya know for sure after next weekend when we get back

And about the kiddie pool for those who mentioned it - there's not a kiddie pool but I believe they have the kids jumping fountain (kind of like what they have in the center between future world & world showcase at Epcot).

We stayed in the South wing last time, and will probably be there again in a few weeks. The walk is no big deal unless its really cold, but thats my wake up! It is covered though. The pool is inbetween the two wings, and the beach (good spot to watch the water parade) is on the south wing side (although there may be one on the other side too???). The water launch is there too. When you enter the main building, the food court and aracade are right there, the front desk and lobby is a few steps more, the buses are outside the lobby entrance, and the elevators and escalators are right there as well. These will take you to the 4th floor (elevator is a direct shot, escalators you have to change a few times) where the shops, steakhouse, and Chef Mickeys are. Also there is an escalator and elevator to the monorail there. With a 2 yr old, it took us maybe 5-7 minutes from our room (3rd floor south) to the monorail. Ive also heard the wings are not as loud as the tower. Dont plan on sitting out on your balcony in the wings because they dont exist. The first floor has a patio though.

so whats the diffrence between a garden room and a standard room or are they the same thing? So do they face MK? Could you watch the fireworks from your room?

I believe, garden wing standard would be parking lot view which faces the MK and garden water wing would be the Bay Lake view and/or the side view of the canal between the Seven Seas lagoon and Bay Lake.
