Contemporary Tower - major $$$'s.
CR Garden Wings - more reasonable $$$'s.

Please tell me what you like about the CR Garden Wing rooms.

Please tell me what you do not like about the CR Garden Wing rooms.

My DS would really like to stay on the monorail.
GF is too fancy for us.
Poly rooms are too spread out.
CR seems to fit our tastes.

Have the CR Garden Rooms been renovated like the towers ?
Any pictures of CR Garden Rooms ?

We always stayed in the garden wings when we visited the Contemporary. We appreciated the fact that it was quieter, the rooms are the same size as the tower rooms (but the price is lower) and often the views are lovely. We have had some gorgeous views of gardens and topiaries and of Bay Lake.

One of the downsides is that if you are in a far part of the wing, the walk to the main building may be a long one. We often opted for dining plans in our early Disney years and some of my family members got cranky walking "all the way" to the "Top of the World" to eat breakfast. Those were the days!

The rooms were all in the same decor. The bathrooms are exceptionally large and very nice. I understand that renovations are now taking place in one of the wings, so you may only have a choice of one wing (if they give you a choice; we've stayed in both several times). The last time I stayed at the Contemporary was in March, 2000. I cannot be sure, but I think we had the entire wing mostly to ourselves! Weird, since the resort was jammed with spring breakers and we did not get into the room until after 6:00 p.m.

we stayed in a wing room in 99, and are going back next year. The only downside to the wing rooms is that they can be a long walk to the main building. But that is it, the price is better, some of the rooms have wonderful views of the lake and they can be quieter than the tower rooms. If you are on the first floor you have a nice patio. The North wing is closer to the MK and it makes for a nice walk, especially to the park since the monorail goes the opposite direction. My kids loved the pool and the slide. Having the monorail makes it very convienient to get places and is just fun to ride even if you are not going anywhere.

The first-floor garden wing rooms are the most underrated in WDW, especiall if you request a garden view or view of Bay Lake. On our last WDW visit we stayed in in the North Garden Wing first floor room overlooking Bay Lake. It was wonderful drinking coffee in the morning and watching the fog over the lake. At night I'd enjoy a nightcap and listen to the loons. You feel a million miles from Disney. I vastly prefer the Garden Wings to the Tower.

As far as most reasonable price for hotel closest to our needs. I must say I did not like the garden rooms at all! I would not stay in them again for any reason (free maybe..) They felt like you were staying in motel 6, not a Disney Deluxe resort. Our room was nearly a 10 min. walk to main bldg. We felt like we were camping! Vending machines were always empty because no one would walk that far to main bldg. Parking was horrible and mousekeeping was just OK. When we switched to the tower room we thought we were at a completely different resort. I cannot tell you the difference between the wing & tower...it's more dramatic than night & day. The magic of walking out your door and seeing the monorail, and watching the water parade at night or fireworks is worth the extra $$ in my opinon. Here is a pic from our 7th floor tower room. Believe me, I know how the budget goes, and I know the extra $$ can be a hardship...but if you are already going and already staying @ CR, do whatever you can to stay in tower, you will not regret it! It truly made our trip!!
