Here are a few photos taken from the CR Observation deck last night - 8/18/07. Some of the concrete walls are now visible and more pilings are also evident. There are LOTS of CMs sharing the "secret" about the resort at this time. Our CA Grille server stated there would be a DVC Members Only lounge on the top floor - which only reminded me of the originally announced "Members Only Lounge" at BWV (which never came to be, but the space is called "The Attic" and is used only for private events and NOT for DVC members).

Great pics Doc. Thanks for sharing. I guess CM's who may or may not know anything are sharing the "secret" with everyone they meet.

Sure looks to be the "C" shaped building previously shown and discussed here on the DIS.

While I was at Animal Kingdom using DVC pts a couple of weeks ago, a construction person mentioned DVC at Contempary. He was the guy that stood by the construction area to make sure no one was in the wrong area. He said Contempary DVC should be finished around 2009. I wonder which will open first, Animal Kingdom or Contempary.

These pictures are important enough to keep at the top of the list!

Who knows? Maybe this place will have something special. But given what I've seen, it looks like a high-rise apartment complex to me.

the plans are showing 3-bedrooms at the top 2 floors.

no access for anyone to the roof (I asked).

besides I think DVC knew how mad DVC members got when something was given (for a few days) then taken away.

this one would definitely be taken away.

why let us have it for free - when Disney can rent it and make money.

So I wouldn't think anything on the top.

now the first couple of floors - there might be a community hall - just forget to ask.

Doc love your pictures!!! can't wait to see it myself. Sept is almost here.

It will be even harder to keep when the construction workers put up a sign on the gate saying "Contemporary DVC Construction Area". :rotfl2:

I have to agree, the sketches and renderings that have been posted, if accurrate at all, just don't thrill me. But I can see the draw of the monorail, and hopefully what the exterior lacks the interiors will more than make up for. To each his own.:hippie:

Comparing the photos to the "Water Management District" plans there is a pretty solid correlation... The drainage pond to the north of the new parking lot area and the rectangular section immediately to the east of the parking area (shown as 2 tennis courts in the plans) are exact matches.

Comparing the existing concrete and steel work---and likely elevator shafts---to the plans is a little more of a stretch, but you can see the basic outline.

I've been taking pics nearly every week (now posting them elsewhere). I'm just as interested in what is going on inside the resort - lots of construction going on on the 4th floor and lobby.

The 4th floor area is being rehabbed to add a shopping area. There is an architectural drawing of the proposed store posted on the barricade at the end near the DVC kiosk. (I suspect this would free up the area that houses the current store to allow access to the tower for a walkway from the new building.)

The area off the lobby which used to house the arcade will reportedly be the new home of the Concourse Steakhouse (which will also have a new name).

Stay tuned!

Yes, I was there (as I am pretty much weekly), taking photos. The store should be open in a few months. There is also an area being built near the DVC desk that will have the temp quick serve place. Of course, there is all the lobby work as well (lots of changes in the 6 days between visits last week).

The current store, BVG, is not going anywhere. The new store in the middle is to replace Fantasia. I suspect they may enclose the north 4th floor balcony at least partially when the walkway is put in.

Right, that is what they said - to replace Fantasia. I'll miss that large, cavernous area, though.

I plan to be back most Fridays, everything has been changing so quickly - the photos look so different each week!

Thanks so much for the pics, Doc! CRV is what brought me to this board and I'm so glad I found you all.

Keeping my fingers crossed for a new futuristic DVC. :cool1:
