Apparently, the CR arcade is closing tommorrow (4/24) for a few days and reopening on the 4th floor next week (4/28).

Can somebody help me out with picturing this in my head. So the arcade will be where fantasia was and Concourse Sundries and Spirits will be next door to it with Bay View Gifts across the hallway from it?

It's been a few years and I can't remember which store is named what.

And if the concourse steakhouse is going to be changed to a new restaurant where the old arcade was, then what is going where the Concourse steakhouse was if the food and fun center is opening next week on the 4th floor.

I know I'm missing something obvious here. Help please.

You are correct that the arcade will be on the 4th floor where the Fantasia store use to be and that next door is the Concourse Sundries and Spirits store and across from it is the Bay View Gifts store.

The rumour is in October the Concourse Steakhouse and Outer Rim Lounge is moving to the 1st floor where the Food & Fun Center is and the restaurant will be renamed the Waive and serve an Asian themed menu. So that means the Food & Fun Center is moving to where the Concourse Steakhouse is and they will be renamed Chef Mickey's Express.

Wow.. I'm glad you got that all straight -- I'd need a map to figure this all out. :)

All this time I thought the food and fun center referred to both the food area and the arcade - I didn't realize they'd be moving separately.

So the Outer Rim and the new Waive will be where the arcade and food area was.

What will go where outer rim was?

Does anyone know how the new arcade will fit in on the 4th floor - do you think it will be really noisy where Fantasia used to be or will they contain that somehow?

Yikes!!! We were planning on meeting a bunch of friends on the 6th of May at the Outer Rim...then heading to the Arcade for a bit!! Do you think they're still going to hold off on moving the Restaurants until October???:scared1:

My guess is that the Outer Rim will still be open on may 6th. The arcade will be very close now, just around the corner from the outer rim.

I'm basing this on the fact that they're still taking ADR's for the Concourse steakhouse for that time.

Also, if the arcade move finishes on 4/28, it's going to take a while for them to build a restaurant in the old location of the arcade.

Please let everything be all settled before we go on Nov 16.... Please let everything be settled before we go Nov 16....

(This is my new Mantra.....)

The Concourse Steakhouse will become the Waive and my guess is the Outer Rim will stay the same and now be the lounge down on the 1st floor, the way it was when the Concourse Steakhouse was on the 4th floor.

As for noise from the arcade I am sure Cast Members have had many talks about putting the arcade to the Fantasia store, and they must have a plan to block out any potiental noise that may happen. So I trust that WDW knows what they are doing and 99.9% of the time they are usually right when making decisions like this.

Maybe they will put actual doors on the arcade to help with the noise?

I would imagine that it will take some time for them to build out the new restaurant on the first floor. If the Arcade is moving now, I can see it taking until October to get the new restaurant and lounge ready to go. It's not like they would need a lot of reworking to expand Chef Mickey's into the Steakhouse space, since there aren't any walls between them. A lot depends on how they plan to work in the rumored Chef Mickey's express dining location and how they plan to utilize the former Outer Rim space. There is a small kitchenish area adjacent to the Outer Rim (I got a really quick pass through with a CM once) that might be useful for a CS location with minimal adjustment. I think it would be kind of cool to use the Outer Rim space for the CS restaurant, so you could still sit and enjoy the view.

If you're staying at the CR now.....would you keep us posted....PLEEEEEASE?:thanks: I think many of us would love to hear about the changes!!:thumbsup2

This is just my personal view but the only place I can see them moving the Food & Fun Center is where the Concourse Steakhouse use to be since that makes the most sense. I guess I don't see how they could fit all the tables, ordering area, cash registers, drink machines and fridges which would sell sandwiches and salads where the Outer Rim is, because I don't see that as a big enough space.

My guess is that part of the Concourse Steakhouse will be an expansion of Chef Mickey's and the other part will be the new Food and Fun center.

I have no idea what the Outer Rim is going to be. It seems like the Outer Rim would be better off staying put.

Well the 1st thing you wrote makes the most sense because there is no where else on the 4th floor or in the Contemporary, where they can move the Food & Fun Center to.

As for the Outer Rim someone who was just there posted that it's also moving to the 1st floor with the Concourse Steakhouse after asking about what will happen to it.

I though it and the arcade were to be together.

and the chef mickey would expand.

maybe with the outer rim gone that might be the food court. but I also heard the outer rim was NOT moving....

oh well we will all find out soon enough.:rotfl:

and yes both the food court and arcade would be smaller. alot smaller.

the food court would be more like the snack areas at the other monrail hotels - smaller. If it is smaller less people will use it and more people will use their restuarants to avoid the crowds.....:scared1: :teacher: is there thinking pattern (my opinion):rolleyes1

The arcade is moving to the Fantasia store which something that was told to me by several Cast Members when I was there and last December and was confirmed when the store closed for good.

I still say the Food & Fun Center (who will change their Chef Mickey's Express) will be in the Concourse Steakhouse location and here is why. You can't call it Chef Mickey's Express if they are not next to each other. While the Outer Rim Lounge is close, it's not right next to Chef Mickey's the way the Concourse Steakhouse is. Also by moving to the Concourse Steakhouse location, that way the food court can still be the same size as Captin Cooks and Gasparilla Grill & Gmaes.

Yeah, I don't think the food and fun center could fit in the Outer Rim. That would be extremely small.

Maybe my estimates are off, but don't you think the Fantasia store is significantly smaller than the old arcade? It seems like the new arcade is going to be a lot smaller. Maybe it's just a perception issue. The old arcade also had a lot of unused space - like the area where people walked around. Maybe more efficient use of the space will offset the reduced size of the area.

I agree with you 100% that the arcade going to the Fantasia store location does make it seem like it will be a lot smaller, compared to it's old location at the Food & Fun Center. So even though I have known for sometime it would be going there, it's still weird thinking of were it will now be. However I don't want to judge it that much until I see it for myself, when my family and I will be staying at the Contemporary this August from the 7-17.

I'm excited to see all these upgrades to the rooms, decor, food and activities at the Contemporary. I'm still not sure I want to see this rumored DVC tower built though.
