CP....who are these people?

I'm hoping that SCC sticks on the schedule they have him on...that's when I'll be there. I've heard, so far, David Ogden Stiers, Heather Headly and Phil Donahue....Ogden Stiers was better than I anticipated, Heather Headly was simply incredible, and Phil Donahue...well, if he was my narrator again, I wouldn't be thrilled. It's a beautiful story, with beautiful music. I'm looking forward to hearing it read by somethin who is so 'into' what he is doing. I've heard such good things about SCC, that I'm very excited to hear him!!!

Hey! They don't even have the name of the person that's going to narrorate when I'm there. I wonder when they'll have that figured out?????? I was hoping for Cuba, but just getting to be there at that time of year is a treat for me.

We should all enjoy the story and the reason for the season NOT the person telling it!

I think I will try to get one of the nights he is narrating. Sounds like he would be good. Merry Christmas! (NOT Happy Holiday!) :yay: :cheer2: :cool1:

I was afraid to check this thread again after writing my comment for fear of major flaming! I'm glad to see that others on this board appreciate the real "reason" for the season. Merry Christmas to you too!

I'm not a Christian but having a Christian artist narrate the Christmas story sure makes sense to me. :confused3 Sure it would be cool to have someone like Morgan Freeman or James Earl Jones to do the narration, but maybe they're too expensive? :confused3

I wonder why they can't get more popular performers? I mean, personally I like Maureen McGovern (she's appeared on Prairie Home Companion from time to time), but there do seem to be an awful lot of 'niche' performers doing CP. Steven Curtis Chapman may be real popular in his 'niche' of Christian easy listening, but I wouldn't know him from Adam, and there are others on the list like that as well. I'm going to be there after Christmas, so I get Marlee Matlin, who I haven't seen do ANY acting in years (maybe a guest spot here and there, but the last time I saw her was on West Wing a few years ago). I'm sure she'll be fine, but it would have been nice to have someone popular.

KC :sunny:

We saw Marlee Maitlin two years ago and I really enjoyed seeing the story "signed". She has a "speaker" with her and I thought it was very nice. We were eating at Cape May that morning and she was at the table next to us.

I just had to post that I am so jealous of all of you! As I work in retail, and live in Michigan, I will never be able to see the Candelite Processional. :( No 2 days off in a row during the holiday season. Unless I am sick.

I am thinking that maybe next year I will have a really bad cold for a couple of days!

I saw SCC in concert last year. He is so inspiring! I can think of no one better to help celebrate the season!

Have fun everyone, no matter who you get to see!!!

I don't even know who is narrating this year, as we won't be attending, but I can tell you that I have seen Gary Sinise, James Caviezel (both seem pretty "A" list to me), Edward James Olmos (twice), Morgan Freeman (I think, several years ago)....and some others over the years. Never saw a bad narrator. It is an awesome inspiring show. I would encourage everyone to take advantage - the singers, orchestra, lighting - just AWESOME!!!!
Maureen McGovern has a great speaking voice (as I recall anyway) and Marlee Maitlin - I am not sure if she speaks and signs or if someone else "voices" for her - but I have heard and read good things. I think she is a regular each year.

They've both done it in the past, I think it's just a matter of scheduling and rotation. I missed James Earl Jones by like 2 days once. :(

And to the person who said the reason for the season was the narrator, that cracked me up. :lmao:
