Hi everyone. I have very basic questions about the CP. I've got twins starting college this fall. From what I've read the Disney CP is a work program, correct? If it is a work program, are you "using up" a semester to participate in the CP? Or does this program count toward your college credits for that semester? I'm a little confused as to how it works, does it delay finishing college by a semester, or do you make it up with summer courses? Any help is appreciated as I'm deciding whether or not to encourage my kids to apply (by the way, how and when does one apply?) after they complete their first college year.

TIA

Well, what the CP counts as exactly depends heavily on the university. Some schools give no credit, some give something like a 3 hour credit, some full semester credit, etc. Mine gave me a 3 hour credit that doesn't actually help me any but the CP counts as an internship.

Somewhere in the school should have CP-related info if they have recruiters that visit each year/semester. Check maybe a career center, internship/co-op center, Dean's office, etc. Good luck. Thanks.

It depends on the school. My daughters school didn't accept it but the CP works with several schools so you can get credit.

I highly recommend the CP. My daughter did it twice. It put her behind with school but she learned so much being on her own, taking Disney classes and working for Disney.

I kind of like to stay away from the phrase "using up" a semester, so I usually tell people that I got to spend 4 fabulous months in the happiest place on earth making magic for people from all over the world. (and no, we're not trained to say that) :)

I have heard that lot of schools do not give credit for the CP (I think I was the only one of my 7 roommates who received credit) and I was lucky enough to get 6 credits for an online journal thing I did with other students from my school. The other nice thing is that it shows up on my transcript...not that I really need proof that I did the program, but it's still nice to have.

I had a great time doing the CP and would strongly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a truly unique experience. I really learned a lot about myself during my time down there and I am very glad to have had the opportunity to do something so fun and magical. :thumbsup2
