I received a phone call today from Disney regarding my original post. My post was closed which makes no sense to me and makes it very difficult to share the response I received.

This is the original thread so that you understand the question.
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1973598

It is concerning the cost of the Candlelight Processional package in EPCOT.
The cost of the package for an Adult meal, at the nicer places for the dinner seatings is $53.99.. Now the most expensive things on the menu do not add up to this price so the pricing of the package makes no sense since the seats are free to everyone with a paid entrance to EPCOT.

A Christina from LeCellier returned my call today and was very helpful and sweet. She said that she took this to the proper departments including the one who priced this package and they can not make heads or tails of it either.

She offered a solution for our family group that would include giving each family group a separate check based on what the actually ordered meal cost and not the cost of the package.

I told her that was nice, and a lot of extra work for her servers but that it was really not necessary. We were not complaining about the cost but just looking for a logical explanation of the cost.

She apologized over and over that no one seemed to have an answer.:confused3 :rotfl:

She told me that they are still looking into it and an answer may appear one day, in which case she will let me know about it.

So I guess the official answer is the MOUSE has no idea! :lmao:

Thanks for posting hte update.

The original thread was closed because we have a policy on the Restaurant Board about tipping threads. They all tend to end up a certain way:rolleyes: and we restrict all tipping to one thread with specific guidelines. Although your question included the package cost, there was enough tipping talk to close the thread.

I am glad they got back to you. What it sounds like is they screwed up. Last year gratuities (i didn't use the T word :rotfl: ) and appetizer so it was one size fits all. This year, they tried to make the CP package fit into this year's no appy rule but because the gratuity is not included, and up to the customer, it mucks up the works.

Sounds like you found a major flaw in their system for DDP folks.

Thanks again for researching this and keeping at it.

Folks, please discuss the package and guidelines, but let's not get into how much you are planning on tipping so we can keep the thread open. Good information!!:thumbsup2

I didn't think this had anything to d with the t*p...:lmao:
I only found the inflated price of the package because I have to figure out tips for every meal for my family group so that each family can pay their portion to the person whose card is linked to the suite.

This was not a question of if the 18% is right, wrong, morale or good.:rotfl:

This was a question of how in the heck Disney Pricing set the price of the CP package dinner for the upper tier restaurants at such a high amount.

I think it is really funny that the upper level management of Disney can not figure out what they did to come to this price.:rotfl:

Maybe I have a weird sense of humor and maybe I should have given this young lady from LeCellier a hard time about not being able to get an answer.:confused3 I just can't see doing that. I think she did a great job of trying to find an answer and she made me as a customer feel cared about and comfortable.

Who knows maybe we will see a change or a correction of the pricing before the beginning of the CP.

Maybe we will see a wording change that says the extra 9 or so dollars is for guaranteed seating at the CP.
