I have attended Candlelight Processional for the past eight years.
And it is usually a highlight of my December trips.
However......
The Disney singers in the center of the stage, with their hand held microphones are now drowning out the voices of the teenage choir members!!
Basically all you hear now are the Disney professional singers.
I truly miss hearing all the teenage voices that work so hard for this show.
Does anyone else agree with me?
Just curious.

:rolleyes1

I didn't notice that at our CP show this year. Of course those with the microphone sing during the entrance and exit of the other singers, so you really hear them them. Maybe the sound guy on your night had the microphones set a little too loud?

Eartha Kitt was our narrator, she was fabulous.

I hate to give away some of the 'magic', but it depends on how the massed choir did in rehersal. If the group did well the Disney singers microphones are turned down, and if they don't know the music very well they raise the sound on the professionals. (I was in the cp chorus the past two years, this year on dec. 15th. Oh, and we did know our music :p )

Thanks for the interesting answers.
We saw Eartha Kitt as well and she did a super job, I agree.
I still say let those young people in the choir be heard.
Even if it is less than perfect.

Well that makes sense. If it wasn't like that I can see someone posting how the choir wasn't as good as they thought they should have been and why didn't Disney turn the mics up on the pros. And we all know someone would have posted that. I agree that those kids probably work hard to get into the massed choir and all, but if they dont know the music like they should, then I think its good that the pros mics are turned up. But I didn't notice during the show we saw that the pros mics were that much louder than the rest. Then again, it sounded great so I wasn't looking for a flaw of any sort.

My husband told me the choirs were good both nights we saw CP. I'll have to go by his judgement since I'm hard of hearing and get more from the interpreters. Saw Harry Hamlin the 16th and Marlee Matlin on the 19th. Of course, my favorite was Marlee Matlin. Both interpreters were awesome.

We were there on the 16th. I thought the choirs and the orchestra were wonderful. My favorite was the sign language interpretuer. She seemed so inspired and so joyful. I thought that Harry Hamlin did a good job too. The CP was one of the highlights of our trip.

My DS and I saw Marlee Matlin on the 19th. We got in line about 4:00 p.m. for the 5:00 p.m. show. They let us in to pick our seats (if you had the CP dinner package) at 4:30 so we sat about the 5th row. I could not believe how close we were! I had been looking forward to this for a very long time and boy was I blown away. The sight and sound was absolutely breathtaking. I can't even begin to explain how moved I was and my son, who originally wanted no part of it and only came so I didn't have to go alone turned to me after about 10 minutes and said "Ok, now I know why you wanted to see this". We don't understand sign language but Marlee was so expressive with her "physical voice" and her expressions and when the choir sang she would turn to them often with such pride and respect. She was truly wonderful and joyful to watch.

My complaint is that they don't print the dates that the choirs are performing. There were two choirs from my area listed in the program, but there was no way of knowing if they were performing the night we were there.

I mainly noticed the loud mics during the processional and recessional. Our choirs must have known their music the night we saw the show.
