Hello! I'm a CP alumni (spring adv 07) in Hospitality and Housekeeping (unofficial resort hopper, I guess). I'm also a campus rep at my school and a hospitality major. I am also heading out to Orlando January 5th for my professional internship! I'll be in Guest Relations at Magic Kingdom- so maybe I'll see some of you there!
My recruiter told me, when I asked about courses, that the hospitality course disney offers is excellent. HOWEVER, if this is your major...it would be like sitting through an intro course in school. It's very basic and mostly aimed for people who are interested in the field but don't have previous experience in it.
I did the exploration series in guest relations...it was fantastic! If you're a hospitality major...I definitely recommend this course. You'll have leaders from all over property coming and talking to you. It gives you a better sense of how everything all flows together in a hotel or resort. I definitely think hospitality majors will benefit from this course.
Another course that is highly recommended is the Marketing U course. I really wish I would have taken this class. The leaders who teach this are phenomenal! You'll really make yourself stand out above the rest with the help they'll give you in updating your resume and "selling yourself." And trust me...they do amazing work. I had Lowell Doringo take a look at my resume and help me update it...my resume BEFORE...I would have thrown away if I was a manager...my resume NOW...well, it got me my job with Disney.
