Is there anything to do within walking distance of where the ship docks? Shopping or?

I too am interested in the answer to that question. We have just been planning on 'winging it' when we are in Cozumel... looking for a great restaraunt to eat awsome mexican food... etc... do some shopping....

hopefully someone who has been there will post...

There must be someone out there that could help us. ;)

I am not exactly sure where the ship docks in Cozumel, but from what i have heard it is very close to the heart of town. There should be lots of shopping opportunities close by, as well as some nice places to eat and drink.

I haven't been to Cozumel on the Magic, but I have been on other ships. There are two international piers, one is closer to town than the other, both have a shopping "mall". When you walk off the ship, down the concrete pier (1, maybe 2 blocks), there is a pretty decent sized "mall". They deal in US dollars, no bartering. They have perfume, liquor, jewelry and Mexican "stuff" (hats, marble trinkets, etc.). If you exit the mall on the other end, there are tourist stands/stalls set up where the locals sell jewelry, t-shirts, all sorts of stuff. You can barter with them - walking away gets the best price. There is also a Fat Tuesdays restaurant on one of the piers (I think that's the name). I don't remember a restaurant on the other.

You don't have to go into town to get your gifts!

The Magic docks in Punta Langosta (sp). It is the dock that is closer to town. All the Carnival ships dock at the other dock further down the road.

There is a "mall" right there at the end of the dock, as well as small vendors up and down the street. You can catch taxis there as well. Right across the street is the famed Carlos and Charlies bar/restaurant that can get pretty lively in the evening.

I believe many a guest and crew of various cruise ships have been left behind here due to too much partying!!!!

For what it is worth...
I have never been, but have done significant research for our November 9th Western trip. We too are going to wing it in Coz.

I have read several posts that one of the best local Mexican food restaurants is called La Choza, and is not far from the ship.

There is also a fairly close beach just North I think.

We are planning to head South by Taxi to Mr. Sanchos, looks to be a good mix for water sport activity, food and fun.

You might check out the web site at cozumelmycozumel.com
for more information.

Have a great trip.

Bob Noble, we look forward to your comments when you return in November.
Thanks,

I was in Cozumel last Feb. and we ate at Panchos Backyard. Great atmosphere, great Mex food and margueritas, they had a mariachi band and it's 3-4 blks past Carlos 'n Charlies. I've eatten at both and would recommend Panchos. We had a taxi from the pier drop us off and then shopped after lunch.

Can anyone who cruised already on the Western Magic help us?
