Trying to decide between 3 choices... Playa Mia, the Fury catamaran sail and snorkel, or just checking out the port on our own and going back to the ship.

Such decisions!

We will already do a beach day at grand Cayman and castaway Cay. not sure if I really want another beach day

Do a trip not shopping its just T shirts and jewelry shops and hot and humid the boat trips are great you see the island and its cooler.

We did the Fury catamaran sail and snorkel. Highly recommend it. They will take you on the catamaran, very friendly staff and plenty of dive masters. They found a very calm spot to snorkel, and were in the water with you, pointing out things, then back onto the catamaran to their beach, which was very clean with plenty of inflatables, kayaks to play on. Drinks included. All in all, a very good excursion, and we felt it was well worth the money.

We used this tour company in May 2014. EXCELLENT!!!

The tour is completely custom. You get to see and do what you want to do. Check out the website and do some research. We emailed the owner -- I think his name was John -- in advance and provided a basic overview of things we wanted to do. As an example we weren't interested in the tour of the tequila factory but really wanted beach time. Our guide was prepared with an itinerary based on my email.

Our guide was Jose and he was very knowledgable. I would request him again in a heartbeat. He was great with our kids. He gave us advice for haggling and fair prices while we were shopping. Jose called himself our photographer and made sure we were all able to be in pics together.

The jeeps were older and a bit beat up but fit our needs. You can either drive your own jeep or have the guide drive. We elected to have Jose drive so we could just enjoy the sights. There was a cooler w/ water, beer and soda.

The price was way better than DCL (my youngest was even free) and you weren't stuck in a caravan of jeeps and follow their schedule. If we were at a spot and wanted to stay longer we could. If we weren't feeling it we left.

We started at a resort for beach and snorkeling. Beach chairs were included. My boys are young (3 and 6). This beach was a little rocky but the kids enjoyed finding hermit crabs. Jose was the snorkeling guide and took my husband out (I stayed on the beach with the boys). They saw a lot of sea life.

Then we toured ruins and the first catholic church. We didn't stay long. Enough to take some pics and buy some souvenirs. Jose was great about making recommendations for the local shops in this area.

Then we went to lunch which was EXCELLENT and included in the cost of our tour. The alcohol was extra but worth the cost. The restaurant was called Andale. It was amazing. There are hammocks and swings that face the beach. The guacamole was the best I've ever had. If/when we go back to Cozumel this restaurant will be on my must visit list.

The beach across the street was beautiful but rough with lots of waves. As my boys are young he took us to a little lagoon that he said most local children learn to swim. We were the only tourists at the beach. There were some locals but it was very private. Jose stayed with our bags/towels which made me feel safe for my entire family to enjoy the water together without worrying about left. There were no waves and the water was warm. We found lots of star fish.

I think this is one of the best options on Cozumel. It is non-DCL but I never worried about not making it back to the ship. Jose was watching the clock. Throughout our trip he would say things like -- I see you are having fun, if we stay here more than 30 minutes we may not be able to do x. Which I appreciated. He gave us the option of modifying our itinerary and gave us the consequences. At our last stop he gave us an update as the time went by -- we need to leave in about 15 minutes to get back to the ship on schedule.

The price was great and depending on ages your kids could be free.

I can't say enough great things. I would book with them again.

You didn't mention if there are any kids in your party. We did Playa Mia with our 2 kids. I would highly recommend it if you have kids - there's a kid-friendly small water park with 2 slides, a pool, and a playground. if you don't have kids, I'd probably pass, unless you are looking to just sit on a beach and and drink. And I wouldn't book it through Disney. We saved tone of $ by booking it through their website and taking a taxi there. Also, the buffet food in the all-inclusive package was just horrible. The food you can order from the menu and pay for was better.

I did Fury. I enjoyed it, it was nice having the snorkel and beach combination, as I like the beach, but don't need to spend hours there. My only gripe is that I felt the boat was a bit crowded and also a couple people were bumping into me snorkeling. However, the staff was very generous with the alcohol and overall very good. I overheard a lot of people say how they had such a great time and it was the best excursion they'd ever done, so it's definitely worth considering.

I've been to Playa Mia twice now. I'd go back again for sure. We like the all-inclusive food, drinks, pool area, beach and activities.
