My DH and I are headed to Cozumel next week. It will be our first trip since we went back in April/May of 2004.

Anyone have any tips? Suggestions of stuff to do? Etc....:flower3:

we just got back last week from there . We did a dive while there but saw a little of the island after we were done ( we were married there in 99 on the beach so it is special to us ) WONDERFUL ... the water was great they have the island put together after the huricanes hit wait till you see the new pier . When they docked the cruise ship I coudlnt believe it .

Thanks so much for the replies. We actually arent cruising there-- we are flying and staying in a resort for the week. We are excited about it... just looking for fun and interesting stuff to do!!:woohoo:

A bit of a drive but I really enjoyed the Tulum Ruins! (you can see some photos in the link from my Trip Report)

I'd go there JUST to experience them again without the time constraints that the cruise excursion made.

We plan to do a dolphin swim the day we are there. I can't remember the name of the park but you can google it. Have fun!

Thanks for the replies-- any other tips? Advice about certain areas? Restaurants?

Shop,Shop,Shop lol.We spent alot of money there. We went to Diamonds international.DH got an Alexandrite that it absolutely beautiful,it has appraised out for alot more than what we paid for it.We did not do anything else because we cruised there and did not have time to do much.
I cant wait to go back.

Rent a Jeep and Drive over to Coconuts on the eastern side of the Island.....

Great food and drinks.....

The view is awesome there too

to get to Tulum - you will need to take the ferry to Playa del Carmen and then get a collectivo or taxi to the ruins (about 30 mins south of the ferry dock).

Playa would be a good day trip as woudl Xel-ha a snorkel/eco park on the way to Tulum

You're probably going to Chankanaab park for the Dolphin Swim. It is absolutely beautiful there. If you have extra time before or after the swim plan to spend it in the park. We did the Dolphin swim there a few years ago, one of the biggest highlights of any of our vacations.

wow everyone keep the info coming! We are staying at an all inclusive resort but are still interested in restaurants and such. Has anyone taken a boat out for the day? Kinda like going deep sea fishing and such? My husband is interested in doing this but ive not heard anyone mention doing it in Mexico and if so havent heard the reviews.

If you want a wild party place/restaurant/bar go to Carlos and Charlies, it's THE place to be in Cozumel

You might want to post this on the cruise board to get more ideas. I know you aren't cruising but lots of people over there have been to Cozumel through DCL and they might have some good ideas. Have a great trip!

We went to Xel-ha when we were in Cancun last year and loved it. Its great if you want to snorkel, since its the worlds' largest natural aquarium. There is plenty of stuff to keep you busy for a whole day.
