Hi guys, I am active on a forum for Cozumel on Facebook. Someone left a phone on a bench in Cozumel and the person that found it tried to get it to the ship but DCL was just pulling away. If a DISer lost a phone maybe I can help you get it back.
That's so nice of you. When we were on the Southern Caribbean Wonder cruise last January our friends found a wallet/phone/$300 in cash in one of those waterproof pouches in the surf. Turned out to be a guest from another cruise ship that called on that port the day before. We spoke with Guest Services and after some back and forth (DCL originally wanted to leave it all with the harbor master until the ship called to port again which we didn't think was a good idea) it was decided that DCL would contact the other cruise ship directly and let the guest know they would be mailing the stuff to them directly...well it would be dropped off at DCL headquarters and they would mail it to the guest.
Our friends actually got a Christmas card from the family this year!
Great story MJ. I truly hope that this person finds out that the phone is in good hands while ON the cruise. I can't imagine the feeling they must have right now. It would definitely ruin my vacation. The phone is on airplane mode and they can't unlock it.
One of the best suggestions I have recently received, is to overwrite text on my lock screen picture with a number to call if my phone is found. It's easy to do with an Iphone.
Choose a picture
Choose edit
Choose the circle with 3 dots inside it
Choose Markup
Choose blue circle with plus sign
Choose text
Type the rescue phone number and save
Go through Settings to use this picture as your lock screen
Now anyone who finds my phone can contact a person who can be responsible to get it returned to me.
I saw one of those consumer news shorts about it. They took 10 phones with the number displayed on the lock screen and 10 phones that had a regular picture as the lock screen and left them in various places in New York. The 10 phones without the phone number were never recovered. They recovered 90 percent of the phones with the phone number displayed. Very good return, in my opinion and very good feeling about people, too.

Try contacting the ships agent in the port. They should be able to help. from a navigator listed: ACS (Agencia Consignataria del Sureste) Calle 6 Norte No 14x 10Y 15 Ave Tel 521-987-873-9490
