Covid testing near WDW

DH and I are vaccinated but our kids have to be tested prior to returning to school. I know there is a main gate location which is first come, but can have long lines.

anyone have a recent experience with the WDW testing location?

our other option seems to be testing at an Advent health in Lake Buena Vista, which sounds like we can make an appointment.

Any other options that I am missing?

Just went to Maingate today at 11:00am. Had results and was gone by 11:30am.

Just went to Maingate today at 11:00am. Had results and was gone by 11:30am.

We also went to Maingate this past November. We went on our AK day since the site is close by there. Took an Uber there and back (about 5 minutes from AK). Easy process and no cost for the testing. Also no appointment needed.

What is the cost of testing at tue maingate site? I'm coming in from Canada in August/Septemeber. We expect we will be vaccinated but we don't know if the government will still require a negative test before entry. I'm just trying to budget.

It could’ve changed but when we went in November the QR code was posted in several spots while we waited in line. I signed up while in line and it just took a minute for the sign up process. That was a few months ago though.

It probably is. She just said it’s’ quicker if you sign up ahead of time and have your barcode ready so you can move through the line faster. I haven’t done it yet so i have no experience with it yet.

How long were the lines when you went in Nov? Like how long did it take to get through them I mean? I was thrilled when she said it’s faster now, and a PP said it only took him 30 min so yay!

We were there Thanksgiving week and it took about 45 minutes to an hour in line. We entered the line around noon. Our state/employer required it for travel then, but now some states have relaxed that including ours, so maybe the lines aren’t as long currently.

For maingate testing, before you go register at www.patientportalfl.com. Get your barcode. They will not let you in line without one. When I got there at 11:00 there were maybe 25 people ahead of me. The line moved very quickly and I was gone with results by 11:30. They only had 2 of 4 testing buildings open but it still moved quickly.

I don't have the answer you're looking for and many have already answered... but I'm seriously curious - why are you testing before you leave to go home? Wouldn't you want to test when you get to your home city? If you are local, I guess it doesn't matter, and excuse the dumb question.

Not sure if OP has the same situation but this past November, my employer/state required a test result within 72 hours of re-entering the state, including 72 hours prior to re-entering home state. Seems odd that way but that was what was expected at the time. In addition, my state was almost impossible to covid test without having symptoms (hardly anything in my area offered for travel purposes... had made many unsuccessful phone calls prior to trip) which is why I used Maingate near WDW. Otherwise I would’ve made an appt in my state.

Yes I agree. Now we do have better access to testing regardless of symptoms or not but would’ve been nice, like you said, to have it available months ago when testing was required due to traveling. It was a mess. None of it made sense.

Maingate was perfect for us back in February. We got there about 40 mins before they opened and were 2nd in line. Was quick and easy, and had the results before we got back to our resort.

OP here. It is silly to test prior to your trip actually finishing. It is what MA is "advising" at this point in time. It was actually required (or face a fine) to quarantine until you receive a negative test.

With is being "advised", to me it isn't mandated in order to enter the state and return home. Personally testing after i have been home is more logical as exposure could happen in the plane ride home. Being vaccinated now the state and my work are not requiring testing nor quarantining, testing is actually more for the kids to return to school.
