I have many symptoms of Covid. I just did a telemedicine appointment with my doctor since I couldn’t get a test appointment, he told me since I had the vaccine in July I have a lot of protection and it’s probably just the flu.

Has anyone here gotten Covid within a short time (5 months) of getting the vaccine?
ps: I found an appointment for testing tomorrow

Whelp. I have a very close relative that got Delta back in November. Immunocompromised senior citizen that had both Pfizer shots and a booster. He only had diarrhea, vomiting and fever. He got a bit dehydrated and luckily got monoclonal antibodies as treatment. All recovered now. Back to eating cookies and playing video games

There are numerous "breakthrough" cases, especially where people have only had two shots with the most recent being six months or so prior. That's why they were offering boosters even before the omnicron variant surfaced. Boosters supposedly offer very good protection against omnicron, but there have been breakthroughs of boosted patients.

Generally, vaccinated patients experience minor symptoms.

Yeah, if you have those kinds of symptoms you should get tested. I did last week, and I felt pretty safe because I never had a fever, I still got tested because I didn't want to be around anybody if it was - and it's possible to not have a fever and still have it. Anyway, I stayed home and worked from home until I was sure - test was negative. I am feeling much better now too.

And isolate until you get the results!

Almost every case in teachers at my school has been in vaxxed people (most are vaxxed overall). AFAIK, all had very mild symptoms thanks to the vaccine. A few only lost taste/smell. Definitely isolate until results!

We both had breakthrough three months after second shot. It came on quickly and severely. It was awful. I doubt you have the flu. I wish you well.

Two of my daughters had the flu this month, one was vaccinated, my SaiL is a hospital nurse and said there is a ton of flu this year, it was everywhere on both daughters’ college campuses.

Feel better soon! :wizard:

It could be either. But you can definitely get Covid even if fully vaccinated. Hopefully, you can get a test quick and are feeling better soon!

I was vaccinated in May and got Covid in October, so 5 months later. Upper respiratory was not "mild" for me FWIW and it took 6 weeks to lose the cough.

THOUSANDS of people have gotten covid after having vaccinations, even after getting a booster. I agree with the PP who said find a new doctor!

Yes. I’ve had two fully vaccinated coworkers have symptomatic cases. I was told to ask for a “deep swab” when I was sick with COVID symptoms. I had been tested twice and both negative but my doctor told me if my symptoms did not resolve to get tested again with a deep swap.

I am surprised that your doctor just brushed it off.
My ds had symptoms a couple months ago and did a teledoc appt and they told him that he should definitely be tested. It was negative.
My dd had been having some mild what she thought was cold symptoms for a few days, took a test today and it was positive. She's been fully vaccinated for 7 months.
Glad you got an appointment, and I agree with the pp- find a new doctor.
