COVID-19 Rebooking Question: What to do with leftover credit?

Unless things have changed, I think you can purchase Disney Gift cards in the shops on board. If so, and if I had a sizable OBC that I didn't necessarily want to spend on trinkets, food or excursions, I think I would use Gift Cards to use up my credit.
This may have changed. They stopped selling gift cards in the onboard shops after a crew member managed to steal a substantial amount of money via some gift card racket. I had not heard that gift cards had been reintroduced as available for purchase this way.

We ended up having to pay thousands more to rebook our cancelled one. We'd booked our (now cancelled) 2020 spring break one a year ago & the only date we could rebook to was this coming June so we're paying higher rates just to do the same sailing. I was told that it all has to be used on one sailing and one room.
June may not be far enough away to escape this mess.

Does anyone know anything about OBC we currently have?

I’ve pre-paid in advance so we already have our gratuities, excursions, etc., covered. I purchased a few chunks of onboard credit for our upcoming cruise that it’s now looking like we’re going to need to rebook. Has anyone run into this? Did DCL refund the cash?

I asked DCL about this on both of my recent calls and I was told it all moves with you to your new booking. That includes room decorations, alcohol purchases, etc. But please reconfirm as well.

Why would you not be able to keep the winnings? You are still spending YOUR money to play, not theirs.
I won and it didn’t cover the buy-in during our trip. So in that respect, you get to “bring it home.” But I’ve always considered breaking even a win!

Hot stone massages at senses and rainforest pass. And order a bottle of Moet for the stateroom. And Remy. And the Princess Tea. And I could go on and on. I have no trouble finding things to spend money on when it comes to DCL!

I’m planning on booking the most fabulous shore excursions. Private everything. Oh drinking their wine, no need to lug my own. Massages...? Buy useless stuff, I mean ,souvenirs, from the ship gift store.

Great point! If I end up in this situation, we will do the princess tea again and book all kinds of spa things.

Instead of losing a large amount of money by taking a smaller cruise or just blowing the money on things you would never normally purchase(high end spa treatments, high-end dinner every night,...) perhaps you could buy those handbags and resell those to get some money back.
although I wonder if onboard credit could be used for a placeholder

Ooh handbags. Thanks for the idea. Probably won’t resell but I forgot I will be able to afford them with so much on board credit!

The credit has to be used on one sailing and one room? What if you have two staterooms booked on your reservation? Can you still re-book two staterooms on one cruise?

Can you use it to add Disney flights? I'm guessing no since most of that money is going to the airline on a prepaid basis.

I believe that this has changed. I tried to purchase gift cards in the on board shops on my last 2 cruises (January and December 2019) and was told that they no longer sell them on the ships.
