The cousin that goes to WDW with me all the time just retired and they gave her a 5 day trip to WDW including airfare, hotel, and tickets. She wants me to go with her :cool1: so now comes the big decision about what hotel to stay at. She said the travel agent said we could stay at The Contemporary, The Polynesian, or The Grand Floridian. I've been reading all the reviews and am now very confused. Food is a big factor also. We love Chef Mickey's, but would not want that every day. We really like the food courts at All Stars. My cousin hated O'Hana's, but I loved it. Give me some reviews of food at these restaurants. Which one would you pick if someone gave you a free trip? :confused3 Since we are going in September, I'm going to have her call the travel agent and see if her package includes the free dining. Hopefully, since I am in the same room, that it will include me also. I have an AP, but I think all I have to do is buy a one day ticket. Does anyone know is this is correct? Have anyone gotten the free dining when they booked the package with a travel agent? That would be so great if could do this.

CONGRATS!!!! :yay:

Personally, I would choose the GF, but no matter where you stay, I'm sure you will have a WONDERFUL time!! Enjoy!

Even tho I've only stayed at the Poly, I would pick the GF, simply because it's the "top of the line" and you and she probably won't get this chance to do it free again! How lucky for both of you!!
As for food, you have the monorail right there so you can step on and try different restaurants on the loop. We've tried several of them and found them all to be good. Your cousin's dislike of 'Ohana may have been due to the seating or noise factor, and not the food anyway! GF has some fabulous restaurants you can try.

Congratulations!! I agree with the others. I'd pick the GF because it's their flagship resort. It's a once in a lifetime resort for a once in a lifetime trip!! You can still dine at Chef Mickeys. It's VERY easy to access the other monorail resorts for dining, etc.:thumbsup2

I would definitely stay at the GF. You can easily just hop on the monorail and go to many restaurants in the 3 hotels including Chef Mickeys. I did not like O'hanas buy love Kona Cafe which is also at the Poly. Have a wonderful trip!

I dont know if the Concourse Steakhouse will still be open, if it is I would try there for a meal. Food was great. Congrats!

Another vote for the GF! Not only do they have 3 fine dining restaurants, they also have the Mary Poppins breakfast and Cinderella Dinner.

hey the Polyn gets my vote.

I don't like any of the restuarants at GF.

Concourse Steakhouse at the Cont, Kona Cafe at the Polyn - I don't like 0'hana either.

captain Cook's is fine for CS.

you get some great views at the Polyn.

I would absolutely choose the Contemporary -- if it's a tower room. Otherwise, since it's a free trip, I'd go with the Grand Floridian.

Another vote for the GF
I just love the foos there and the relaxing feel

Hey she is retired

I have stayed in all 3 hotels and any of them would be great. As others have said, you are just a monorail ride away from any of the other resorts.

Another vote for the GF! Not only do they have 3 fine dining restaurants, they also have the Mary Poppins breakfast and Cinderella Dinner.

ooh, how fun! I didn't realize there was a mary poppins breakfast there! I too would say choose GF.. not that I've stayed there or at any of the resorts you're choosing from... but if it's the most expensive of them all and you probably would never do it at any other time you should go for it!

I did go eat there once at some small cafeteria and the grounds and lobby are beautiful!

good luck and let us know what you choose!

Aloha!! I vote for the Poly... I love the atmosphere and island theme. It feels "vacationy" to me! And Kona Cafe in the Poly is sooooooo good.:thumbsup2

2nd choice is GF.

How lucky! And what a great cousin to bring you along!:)

Enjoy your trip!
