Has anyone stayed at the Courtyard Marriott?

I just reserved my room there for our Feb 06 Eastern. We are staying the night before then returning the Budget rental and taking the Budget shuttle to the port.

Hopefully someone has some good input about this hotel.....

THANKS!

We stayed there in 6-03. The hotel itself is very nice with a great location to the beach. A 4-5 min walk down a path, basically it is ocean front if you ask me without the price.

The service was not good, very unorganized. Be careful of the info you recieve from them.

When I made my ressie I was promised:
-$99 rate which included the shuttle
-The shuttle would pick us up at 10:30am.

Because I always have many questions, I probably called 3-4 times over a few months time. Everytime I called, I would double check this info. Everytime, they told me that the shuttle was not included and that the shuttle would not pick up that early. Each time, I would ask for the manager and they would run around asking until they finally agreed that I was correct.

As many times as I called (one time was a day or 2 before we stayed there), I still had to fight with them over the shuttle issue when I arrived!!! When I got there, they said no, the shuttle never picks up until 12 (which is true by the way). When I told them about my calls and that the shuttle issues were one of the reasons I chose to stay there, they checked to see if they could arrange it, which they did.

Everything worked out the way it was suppose to, but boy was it a hassle. No one knew what the other was doing.

The food/drinks were horrible. Unfortunately, they really were not set up to serve in a restaurant even though they had one. The bar waitress was the only server (and this was June). There was a very limited menu and she somehow managed to mess up a pina colada. We had not intended on eating there, but because of a huge storm and no car we couldn't get out of the hotel..

It is in with walking distance to Ron Jon's, an IHOP (good!), Burger King, Dairy Queen and shopping (both souveniors and grocery). The souvenior shop across the street is probably the best, way cheaper than Ron Jon's!!!!!!!

Don't be discouraged, the hotel was fine. If the promise anything, get it in writing.

We stayed there in February. I agree with the above post-very unorganized, but they will make good on promises. The location was great-we spent the day before our cruise walking the beach, which was very really nice. The room was very clean, but we looked out onto a roof--not a big deal to us because we really didn't spend much time in the room. Be sure to get a AAA rate if you have the card, we saved about $30. We did not eat there because the prices looked high and there is so much to eat around the area. We had a rental from Budget and the Budget shuttle worked out wonderfully (to and from the port). We will probably stay there again.
I don't know if this is an issue for you, but they can put a rollaway bed in your room if you need one (we're a family of 5, so this was very important to us).

Well, we have 3 kids and need to have room for 5. The ressie says 2 queen beds and a sofa.

Im not planning on eating there, so thats not a consideration.

Here is what I got for the reservation so far:

We're staying there in september. I've stayed in courtyards many times. And the complaints people have with food are always like that with courtyards. Most people staying at courtyards don't eat there b/c it's more of a business hotel. I've only eaten at a courtyard once and that was b/c it was free. We're doing the budget rental car and budget shuttle too. It sounded the easiest.

Can you share about the Budget shuttle? We are staying at the Courtyard in Oct. but would like to get to the port before the noon time the hotel offers! Thanks

I think the budget shuttle is if you rented a car and are dropping it off the morning of the cruise. you would pick it up at Budget.

Art's shuttle is the main shuttle service as far as I know unless someone gets smart and jumps in to take over the shuttles for people who want to go early.

Does anyone know if they have changed their pick up times to earlier than 12?

We took a taxi from The Hampton (which is right next door to the Courtyard). The number is 321-784-4499. It is M & H Taxi. We called the evening we got in to set up a 10 am pick up. I recommend calling again about 30 min. before your scheduled pickup as they forgot us. They were there by 10:30. It was $15 plus tip for 3.

hope this helps

Thanks for the info-I will take the taxi # with us. The hotel said they charged a $3 per person fee, but I would really like to get to the port a bit earlier. But waiting till after 12, maybe it won't be so crowded???? I am trying to be optimistic!

I'm glad to hear this info on Marriott and the Budget shuttle. We are staying at the Marriott the night before our Oct cruise (using marriott rewards points) and returning our budget rental back the next morning. I'm also glad to hear there is an IHOP nearby! It's my fav place to eat breakfast (besides the deck of a ship!).

Was wondering if any of you who have stayed here or have had experience with Marriotts points could answer my ??

We will be staying at the Marriott Downtown Chicago and are'nt a rewards member but got to thinking if I were to sign up for this for our stay then maybe we could use these points for a hotel at the port before a cruise.

I dont' know how the points work or how many we will get for our stay in Chicago. Would it be enough points on a one night stay in Chicago to help us get a better rate or free room at the port?? What were the points required for the Courtyard Marriott at the port when you last stayed??

We do have 2 rooms booked but may pay for them seperately or together---not sure which----would we get more points by combining the 2 rooms or would it be better to sign up for the rooms seperately and then use them for 2 rooms at the port

Any help on this would be appreciated!! :sunny:
