We got a great rate for the Courtyard DTD--$49 per night.

Anyone stayed there before who can answer a few questions--

Is it possible to walk from the hotel to DTD? They advertise they are within walking distance, but how easy is the walk? Do you have to cross major roads, no stop lights, etc.?

What's the food situation like at this hotel? Do they seem to have adequate eating facilities for their number of guests? Are they reasonably priced? If I'm looking to stand in line and pay sky-high prices to eat I'd do all my meals at the parks or upscale resorts.

Thanks!

You do have to cross a major road, but it is well lit and the crosswalk stops all traffic (including people turning right on red) to let you cross. No big deal.

Never ate there so I can't help you with that.

Check the Courtyard by Marriott DTD website for particulars. We didn't eat at dinner in the restaurant, but breakfast was reasonable with a nice selection. The staff was very helpful and accommodating. Don't forget the manager's reception daily in the lobby. A couple of nights last year, the popcorn and nacho chips were just the thing before a light supper.

The walk to DTD was an easy on (15 minutes of strolling?) and the crossing of the highway was easily managed.

There is a Disney reception area to pick up the e-night tickets, too! And I was able to make PS reservations at Guest Services. I don't know if that is still possible or not. We'll see. . . in just a few short weeks!

The Courtyard is the second hotel on the south side of Hotel Plaza Blvd. The Hilton is the nearest to DTD, then the Courtyard. I'd be very surprised if it were more than a 10 minute walk to the Marketplace in DTD.

If for some reason you don't like the food at the Courtyard, the Hilton and the Hotel Royal Plaza are right next door. Also within walking distance is the Crossroads Shopping Center with several good restaurants.

Where did you get the $49 rate?? Was it directly from the hotel or from Priceline? Did you use any special promo like AAA? We are wanting to go in Dec. and would like an inexpensive hotel but close to the Magic!!

Are they still offering the $20.02 this year? If so, what dates are available?

Thanks!

Actually, I got the $49 rate by calling the hotel direct. I was asking about the $20.03 rate, but they said they were all sold out. The lady I spoke with then offered me the $49 rate. Its good for Mon-Thurs only. Our last two nights we got for the AAA rate of $69 per night. I found the $69 rate on the hotel's own website. They put both rates together in one reservation so I wouldn't have to fool with it once there.

However, a friend of mine called the next day but couldn't get the $49 rate. I think its just one of those things that pops up on their screens at random, so just keep trying. It might also have to do with taking a pleasant attitude. Some common courtesy -please, thank you, yes m'am instead yeah, all the things I try to teach my 6 year old son, do go a long way!
