Court summons for date we leave!!!!

We haven't heard anything yet. My husband called at 9 and the lady said that they were already in court and that he should call back at 3. The waiting is driving me crazy!!! We can't even reschedule because my oldest daughter is in college year round and only gets two weeks off during the summer. She is working the first week (which is next week) and the trip is the second week. Other than the week of Christmas, this is the only time our vacation time overlaps.

Good luck Holly. I hope everything works out for you and your family. Keep the positive thoughts going!!

As one who gets subpoenas all the time, its very simple.

Contact whoever sent the subpoena and request that they continue it.

Should not be a problem.

Billinaz is correct, don't contact the court, you need to call who sent you the subpoena. There are definitely ways to accomodate you, but don't let them put you off until its too late.

From the sounds of it--the "they" that tink is referring to--could be the ones who sent the subpoena.

Good luck--Don't let them break you!!!!

It was a summons sent from the courthouse. There isn't even the name of a lawyer on it, just the name of the judge and the guy that is going to trial. Hopefully he will be able to get out of it since he has no idea who the guy is.

The other thing we found out is that it is in reference to a hit-and-run accident. It's like my husband said, if he had witnessed a hit-and-run, he definitely wouldn't forget it. He knows nothing about this one!

Maybe you can do a little research to find out who, what, when, where, etc.

If the summons is for a Hit and Run, there should eb a police report (I wonder if the case is civil or criminal). Anyway, you may be able to get a copy of the police report if you know what department handles the district the accident happened in. If the summons does not give details, try calling the police that handle things in front of your store and see if they have a report.

Just a thought.

Hey--that works in his favor then--calling him into court to say "I didn't see anything" would be just plain rediculous. Sounds like the defendant is scrapping up credible people who didn't see squat and can't place him at the seen of the crime. I guess if you don't have an alibi--you go in the other direction.

Good luck and tons of pixie dust. I say you get some nice spa time when everything turns out okay :)

Here's the update!!!

It all worked out! He finally got someone from the courthouse to talk to and she pulled all the files on the case. It seems that there was an accident a while back in front of our business (like I said before, it is a bad intersection and there are quite a few wrecks every year) and my husband was one of the people that called 911 to report it. He explained to the lady that he just called it in when he heard the crash, but never saw anything...didn't even know that it was hit-and-run! So she said that she would take his name off of the list and not to worry about it!!!! Whoo Hoo! :bounce: :Pinkbounc The cruise is back on! I can start packing now!

And once again, thanks for all the pixie dust and kind thoughts! You all helped me to calm down a little bit!

Great news! We are on the same cruise and I am glad that you'll be there enjoying it all with the rest of us on June 13th!

Congratulations and that is great news. Have a great time. :bounce:

Great news...
Just a suggestion. Get a name of who gave your husband permission NOT to show.
As much as you may think I'm being cautious the subpoena IS a legal document and I actually would prefer something in writing from that person as opposed to a phone call.

Enjoy your cruise :)

Cheers,
Grumbo

I'm glad everything worked out for your family. I know you have to feel alot better.
