Mailed an envie out today.
NESS0905 - I received a lot of expired coupons last week. You'll save a ton of money in shipping costs by weeding those out. The general rule is those coupons that expire 7 - 10 days of you mailing them. I believe there is more info in the 1st page of the train. (Someone correct me if I'm wrong.) I'm not mad, just don't want you wasting $$
TonyaG - Sent a chunky your way yesterday!![]()
Not sure there's anything on the first page but what you're saying is very true and excellent advice.
I don't know how others sort through their envies but I, personally, go through all of them at least twice after I receive my envie in the mail.
The first time I weed out anything that will expire prior to 7 days AFTER my train buddy receives the next envie. Example: our next mailing is on 3/17 so she probably won't receive it until 3/19 or more likely 3/20. Therefore, I really shouldn't send anything to her that expires prior to 3/26 or 3/27 using the rule of thumb above.
Why do we do this? Because most stores won't accept expired coupons and if you send coupons that expire a day or two after your train buddy's received them, who's so truly organized that they're able to use them almost immediately? Not me! I'm a pretty organized person (some would say bordering a bit on OCD....
) but there's no way I can use shortdated coupons like that so I wind up sending them to the military or recycling them.
That's what works for me. If anyone wants to share how you do it, please feel free to share your thoughts. Love hearing how others do things.![]()
I think I am a little OCD myself: This is how I sort. As I am going through them I look at the expiration dates. I take the ones I can use for myself.
The ones I can't and would be enough time for my buddy to get them and use them go in another pile.
The 3rd pile goes for the ones that have the short expiration date that the buddy can't use and I take them to the grocery store and give them to people or leave them on a shelf with a note saying take these.
4th pile if there are any expired ones for to mail to the troops.
