Coupon/sale price challenge

I am trying to figure out how to get Gatorade/Powerade as some seriously reduced prices.
I see those extreme couponers with stock piles of sports drinks.

Football season has started up and our new budget does not allow for such purchases as sports drinks, but seeing the people with their stock piles there much be some way to do it.

Any ideas/suggestions are welcome.

Koolaid with a pinch of salt or electrolyte powder. Make it in gallon jugs.

Our grocery budget eliminated all fruit drinks and we are down to koolaid. I was thinking that Koolaid was similar to the sports drinks....just missing a certain ingredient.

Likewise the powder gatorade is similar to koolaid only maybe missing the sweetness?

I have 5 kids, so I make 1 1/2 gallons of Koolaid a day, and that is during school season. With summer here it is really going to be a pinch on our budget. (not to mention all the meals and snacks at home....out of school lunch program during summer)

The point is to keep the kids hydrated -- so go with plenty of good, free water. Use your own re-fillable bottles.

When we have all the guys here I water down the sweetness. And they will go through gallons. Will also use Countrytime or a lightly sweetened tea. Not to much sugar because you just get thirstier.

They do drink plenty of water. Also I cut the sugar of the Koolaid by 1/4 cup....always have and no one has ever complained.

DD14 has his fav refillable water bottle that is practically attached to him.

I just worry about my DD16...at 6'1", 250lbs, who workouts out so hard...giving 110% everyday and sweats A LOT (he is kinda known for how much he sweats...poor guy is obsessed with showers). After hard workouts he sometimes cramps. That is where the sports drinks come into play...or at least the difference between water.

We wind up with pick up games here, snd I will have 10 teenagers between 13 and 22 on a good day. They have water, too. But in years past, we've had cramps, Etc. At that point a little spiking doesn't hurt.

Lol, we also go through tons of rice krispie squares. A cheap and easy snack for a boatload of healthy teenage boys.

I buy alot of propel and vitamin water.. I occasionally buy coupons on ebay.

ETA: I just make sure the seller has good feedback and I pay a minimal amount for the coupons. I will not pay $7 for $10 worth of coupons!

Contact Pepsi or Coke directly and see if they have any way to help you out.

The schools here used to have a contract with Pepsi, where we had to purchase Pepsi products for the concessions stands, but at a reduced rate. They sold Pepsi exclusively in teh schools, and Pepsi donated a generous amount to the schools.

Then the school board dorked it up, and now we have Coke. No discounts. No donations. Only Coke Zero sold on campus for the teenagers.

Those extreme couponers were using tearpad coupons that they either got by taking all of the coupons on display in several stores or by buying them on ebay. There was a Powerade coupon that offered one free wyb 1. The extreme couponers were combining those B1G1 coupons with a BOGO sale so that they got them for free. The coupon has since expired.

There's one available now for 5 free Powerades wyb 10. You can check the clipper services and ebay for any that are available for purchase.

Vons(Safeway) had these buy 10 get 5 free. Cut the sports drink down to 1/3 strength or 1/2 strength depending upon taste. This is what our trainers tell our players to do and we are in Southern California, so Summers are hot. To abate cramps, the boys need to drink pickle juice.

I see Safeway/Tom Thumb with the buy 10 get 5 free deal.

If you check the coupon train topics, there's a few of them with links to websites that post what's going to be in next week's coupons. But most the coupons are for only individual bottles, not the packaged ones.

Wow, thank you all for the info.

Our school had the Pepsi deal....only sold Pepsi products in concessions/vending, etc. Pepsi even paid for the scoreboard sign.

New boosters came in and as soon as contract expired changed to Coke products. Prices went up, everything changed.

I had no idea that you can purchase those tear pads. That is borderline criminal....stealing a whole pad from a store or many stores and then selling them. Wow.

I start training tomorrow at a grocery store as cashier. Yeah me....to finally get a job!!! I will be very interested to see the couponers.
I did have to sign paperwork upon hiring that stated employee coupon/mvp card.....you cannot use any unused coupons printed in store, you cannot use your own mvp when a customer doesn't have one, ANY and ALL unused coupons go into a special bag that is sent back to main office....all coupons are to equal to cash and abuse is grounds for dismissal.

If I can find some decent coupons I can buy the powder gatorade and maybe stretch it. When looking up recipes for sports drinks a few of the comments were written by pediatricians stressing that homemade mixes may should not be compared to name brand because it probably is missing crucial ingredients. I thought that was interesting.
