Has anyone done this before? Is it really rough? I have never had one before but my BF loves them so I thought it would be a fun thing to do together. Are the massuses female, male, both? And, would it be ok to wear a bathing suit or shorts? I am not comfortable being nude in front of a stranger & I know that if I was I wouldnt enjoy it. & are you greasy when you leave? This all sounds soo dumb but I'd rather be the girl that asked dumb questions here than that one walking around on the ship that is all greasy & smelly and OBVIOUSLY doesn't know she should have showered right after! :teeth:Thanks!

My wife and I have had them before, but not on DCL. You can wear as much or as little as you want. As far as male /female we have had both and never a problem. Remeber that they are working as professionals and if they don't do a good job they won't get a tip. You won't feel greasy. My only advise is don't get a deep tissue massage as sometimes these can be a little painful.
Just relax and have a great time. I signed us up for the REAS on the May 22 Magic sailing as a suprise for my wife.

The massage can be as hard or as light as you choose. The therapists usually ask how you like the pressure so they can adjust it to your preference. All of the therapists used to be female, but recently they added males. They will ask you if you have a preference. I am experienced at the spa, so it doesn't matter to me. I had a male do two of my treatments, and he did a great job.
You can undress to your own comfort level. You could wear a bathing suit, but I wouldn't recommend it because it would interfere with the back massage unless you roll it down. Panties or loose fitting shorts would be best. Even if your chest is bare, you are covered at all times and they hold up the sheet when you roll over to protect your modesty. Let them know if it's your first time and if you are nervous, and they will do their best to put you at ease.
And yes, you are oily afterwards! They use wonderful aromatherapy oils. When hubby gets a massage at the spa at home, he brings the oil he buys on the ship and has them use it.

My sister spent her honeymoon with DCL and part of her package included a couple's massage. She was very squeemish because she had never had one before and loved it. She said having her new husband there made her relax more.

Yes, My hubby and I just got home from our 1st DC last week. We did 2 spa things, First, the couple massage is the same as any other one except the SQUEEZE both of you into the same size room one person goes in. It is the same price, the same service , you are just both in the same room at the same time.
Most, if not all the staff is female for the massages. My hubby wore his undies while I went in the buff. They are very good at keeping you comfortable, in fact they do say "dress down to your comfort level" They walk you into the room, they leave, then you get under the sheet and cover up, they come back in and they start on your legs, they move the sheet to just uncover your leg and the side of your hip. (no bottom is shown), they then recover your leg and do the same on the other side. they then cover you back up and pull the sheet down to just the top of your hips (about as low as the top of you underwear line is) then they do your back, and from there its a facial, or whatever else you asked for.
If the 2 of you want to be alone and do the massage on each other, I totally would do the surial bath! lets just say, its great. the two of you are locked alone in a room with some mud ( it's good for the skin):teeth: and all of the massage products to use at your disposial. you could do a mask on you or him, they have another room that is all steamy at first but then once you turn on the water it cools off and you can "play" with the mud and body scrubs. Anyway I will not tell you anymore, but you get 1 hour and no one bothers you until the last 10 min. as a warning. it is 68$ but worth every penny. after you are done there is a shower and shampoo and even hair gel to do your hair. I would do it again in a heartbeat. In fast we did this our 1 day @ sea and it started the cruise off to a great start.
Yes there are showers for you to clean off at but I came out not very greasy at all, and we went right into the adult hottub.

Monchichi.... LOL- the surial bath sounds SOOO Disney!! HAHA, maybe our next trip!!
I also booked the REAS so I don't hae to be a part of the reservation scramble. One more question, how much is appropriate to tip them? Do we do it all together, to one at a time? The last time I bought a massage gift certificate for my bf they wouldn't let me include the tip or else I would know how much they ressomend, but then again that wasn't on DCL. Thanks so much!!

We did the couple's cabana massage and mini facial last year on castaway cay and it was really nice (but really expensive, as well). I had never had a massage before and I was worried about a few things.

(1) That it would be too rough and hurt -- it wasn't it was wonderful. and if it's too rough, you can always tell them;

(2) I was afraid of having to be nude. -- I only went topless, but they were very good about covering you up with a towel when turning around.

(3) I was afraid I'd be super oily and greasy afterwards, therefore being uncomfortable for the remainder of our CC day -- Nope. The oil seeped in and just made my skin extra soft; no trouble with this whatsoever

Hubby loved this, too...especially the mini facial which surprised me.

Is there also a surial club, like the Verandah club? LOL - Mike

But a frequent visits club might not be a bad idea. lol

Princess49:
You tip just after each service. They leave the room so you can put your robe on, and when they get back they go over some choices they feel you should use on your skin. Then they hand you what looks like a resturant bill that has a place to add tip, then you add the total and give it back. It all comes out of your Key to the world card. Not a cash tip.

Monchichi - Of course that's what I was thinking about " a Frequent visitors club". LOL - Mike

I would have much rather have done the surial bath again then do the couples massage.
I wonder if disney is the only cruise line to do this?

Any ideas on how much we should tip? What percent of the actual massage--- oh- how much IS the total, I'm doing the REAS so I don't know the breakdown. Thanks again!

We had the basic massage for $89 and we tipped $!0, the surial bath just $5 for the cleanup. I have heard 15% but it really is just like a resturant, the better the service the better the tip.
