Couple Questions on Frozen Ever After

We weren't originally thinking about riding this, since we won't be traveling with kids, but now I'm thinking I ought to give it a try. We were long-time fans of Maelstrom.

First - is there anything particularly interesting in the queue that we would miss if we ride with FastPass? (Traveling off-season, so I don't expect the epic wait times.) I'm a fan of well-done queues, but that's not enough to keep me from FPing Space Mt, Splash, or IaSW, for example. Even the interactive Soarin' games aren't going to keep me from FP, but I do make sure to go through the long Peter Pan queue early in the morning.

(I'm aware of the sauna window, but not sure of that's enough all by itself.)

Second question is a bit more obscure - has anyone drawn a map of the footprint of the queue and shop areas to compare to that for Maelstrom? I know that with the exception of the first show scene, the footprints for the attractions themselves are the same. But I'm thinking that most of the queue is in the old movie theater area, along with some of the old shop and meet/greet area. then I guess there's an exit path that somehow or other drops into the gift shop. So it would be interesting to see some sort of overlay comparison.

1. There is nothing in the queue to miss, from what we could tell from the fastpass line. We saw where the standby line was as we were in the fastpass line.
2. I don't have an overlay comparison. The queue just looked like a winding little maze. Fastpass line to the right. Winding little maze to the left.


It is definitely worth a fastpass just to see it. It is well done for what it is and for what they had to work with using Maelstrom.

There is a side by side video ride through on You Tube that gives a good perspecive, if you don't mind spoilers (or you could watch after you ride). It was interesting to see what parts of the ride were added by using the space between the old load and unload areas.

I think everyone should try it once, and FP is definitely the way to go. The stand by queue and the FP queue are in the same room. The standby queue winds back and forth while the FP side is short and fairly straightforward. I didn't really feel like I was missing a lot by going through the FP queue.

We FP'd this last week, but were able to observe the standby line inside, as it's basically one big room & FastPass goes in a straighter line, while standby goes through those classic amusement park line pretzel formations. Standby did go through a very small part of the room that I could tell was Oaken's Trading Post, but I definitely wouldn't trade my FP for that. It was small, & the only "feature" they were treated to during their long wait.

Our FP line that evening was about 25 minutes, & standby was 120 minutes. After riding FEA, I felt it was worth a maximum 5-minute wait, unless I was visiting with my 6 year-old neice A&E fan. And I am a fan of Frozen, btw. Didn't hate the ride, just found it underwhelming.

I have gotten up at exactly 7am - two days in a row- and FEA is not available exactly when that date opens up. I have tried going as few on one FP-and nothing. This is a crock.

Standby has a Hidden Mickey,but not worth not doing FP+ just to see it IMHO.

I have a quick, somewhat related question....is the gift shop just Frozen merch? I loved shopping in "Norway" with the trolls, sweaters, Norwegian knickknacks, etc.

The "dump room"(first room Guests enter when exiting the ride) is all Frozen-the other rooms are not.

Months ago, maybe even last year, there was a lot of talk about this (and maybe even a diagram) of the ride footprint for FEA on the Rumors and News board. IIRC, the queue occupies both the previous queue and most of the old theatre. The gift shop is essentially unchanged except for merchandise. The ride itself was lengthened by adding an S shape to the track and including the old unloading area.

The meet and greet is a completely separate building.

See, I obviously need the map. I thought the S-curve took up the old queue/load area, and the old unload area became the new load/unload area and part of the new queue.
Since this morning was my ADR day, I guess that means I'll find out 180 days from today. (I know I'm going to Epcot that first day, but haven't checked to see if I'm planning to see Frozen.)
