Couple Questions on ADRs

Hey All,

I have some questions regarding ADRs:

1) If you miss your reservation because you were on an attraction, will they still hold your reservation for an allotted time afterward? We plan on using our EMH, and eating Breakfast with Minnie about a half hour after park opening... But if we're on the subs at that time... Will our table be forfeited?

2) If there is a change in party size the day of, is there any fee? My best friend is an AP holder and lives in CA. I'll be at DLR and she plans on meeting us with her kids... But we have dinner at BB planned, and she's not 100% sure if she's going to join us or not. I plan on making the ADR for a party of 10, but if she bails, will I be charged for that?

ADRs aren't like traditional reservations; they aren't holding a table for you. Once you've checked in, you'll be slated for the next available table for your party size after the guests with ADRs ahead of you have been seated. That being said, there is no official grace period if you're running late, but my guess is that if you're withing a few minutes of your ADR they'll still be willing to honor the ADR. If your later than that, they could 1) still honor the ADR, 2) treat you as a walk-up (i.e., seat you, but you'll have to longer wait), or 3) count you as a no show (and charging you the no show fee) and not be able to seat you. It's best to plan to be a little early or on time to your ADR.

There is no fee to add someone to the reservation at the last minute, but it is only possible to do that if the restaurant has an ADR for your new party size available. So if there is no availability, they will not be able to modify the reservation. Likewise, there is no penalty if someone does not show up for the ADR as long as someone in your party honors the ADR. So, it's better to make the ADR for your full party, assuming your friend will join you. If you show up at the restaurant with an extra person they may be able to accommodate you and add her, but there is also the chance that they will not be able to and then she'll have to eat elsewhere.

We've been up to 20 minutes late for an ADR and were still accommodated without a problem. That being said, it was during extremely busy parade time and it took us at least an extra 10-15 minutes to navigate into the park. My experience is that the CMs will do their best to get you seated and routinely allow for a 15 minute grace period either way. We've been late other times too and have never been turned away. We're perpetually late people. ;)

As for your second question, I don't think you would be charged if you made the reservation for 10 but only 7 ended up dining. But if your reservation shrank to 6 or 5 maybe? I would probably call disney dining to ask about that one.

Something to also perhaps call and ask, a couple years ago we had a group of 11 and had to split into a party of 5 and one of 6 when we were dining at Blue Bayou. They put is at tables close together, but couldn't accommodate our group at one table.
