Hello! looking at GF 200 points direct.
-Our guide told me the welcome home incentive “only applies if you purchase while on a current trip”. This is not what I’m seeing/reading elsewhere. I am seeing it’s $1000 or $1500 if you have a future trip booked when you purchase direct as a new member. (I have an email out to my guide about this). Does anyone know if this future trip has to be at a DVC resort or not? I was told by one member you can have a future trip at a value and still receive this incentive. Also, Is there a minimum number of nights required for this future stay?
- our guide also told me that if I split the 200 point contract into two separate contracts, I would not receive member benefits because the master contract must be 150 points plus. is this accurate and if so is it unwise to do 150 and 50 ( I know closing costs be a bit higher )?

Any Disney trip current or future counts. Cruises count. You could even book a cash trip and do your DVC purchase and then cancel the trip.

The master contract should only need to be 100 points. You could then split the other 100 how you wish. As long as the combined total is 150 points or more you will have direct benefits.

I don’t know what kind of training these guides have to do to be up to speed on what’s currently being offered, but something seems to be amiss.

I appreciate this. You are the 6th person to confirm my beliefs. How do I go about making sure I receive the incentive and can do a split contract WITH member benefits?

I’d draft an email listing out exactly what you are wanting to do;

Number of points and how you want it split with one being 100 points minimum, use year you want, list out the incentives you have knowledge of (make a reservation for cash for a future date that you will cancel after closing if you don’t want to actually use it…you’ll have a reservation number to provide your guide if needed), and whether you want to do Magical Beginnings. Tell him/her that if they are unable to do that you will have to pass.

See what the response is. If he/she still is not giving you what you are wanting and entitled to, I’d contact another guide. There are plenty of good ones willing to go the distance to deliver all of the incentives you are entitled to.

Oh- can the future trip be past the incentive deadline ( 9/11) and still allow you to qualify ? I am seeing people that are booked in October receiving this incentive on their purchase.

Yep. I have even seen someone post their December trip qualified. I asked my guide about my Aulani trip next February and he said that would qualify. We decided not to add on, but he’s been around a long time and knows his stuff.

will do! I already mentioned I wanted an August use year as our travel Would be either end of August, November, or December he stated that I would have to wait until August or September to get the August use year that they won’t approve it “today”
Can I just call dvc on my own and get these facts straightened out? I bet if I said no thanks they’d come back with what I wanted.

I would contact the guide again and say that you understand that he might need approval but that you want the Aug UY as it fits your travel patterns and that you are ready to buy once he has it.

I would also mention the rest of the information, especially that you understand if you split your purchase in to two 100 point contract, that you would lose membership extra benefits if you ever sold one...which is what does happen if you did. And, if you wanted them back you'd have to buy however many more would be needed to reach the minimum if it is more than 150. Explaining to him you understand it all will help you get what you want.

If you buy two contracts make sure you get the same use year
I have two use years, so two memberships....
My guide tried to take me out of it......
I knew better...(sarcasm)..and it worked better for estate planning .... (actually true)
Its not a huge issue, bit it is an issue at times...

If you can get one use year it is the best

What's a master contract?

We just added 150 VGF into a use year account that previously had only a resale purchase. Our other use year account (June) already had a resale and direct purchase with the DVC-Y benefits, but VGF was a different use year. I asked to split the VGF purchase into 50/50/50 and the concept of "master contract" or any minimum contract size didn't even come up. The account with VGF now shows DVC-Y on the blueish temporary membership card online for that use year (it was a "white card" without the DVC-Y pre-purchase) is linked to the June use year account based on the contract number I see, so the only way I can tell that the VGF account qualified for the direct member benefits is the temporary card online.

It’s a way to say that as new member, one of the contracts must be at minimum for 100 points (that’s the minimum they’ll sell to a new member). After that the contracts can be split. As you are a member already this doesn’t apply to you. Well, kind of. They wont split contracts under the minimum add on for the resort.

so I definitely CANNOT get benefits as a new member if I have two 100 pt contracts? Others are telling me I can and that they have. Should I just call dvc on my own ?

Yes I bought Direct yesterday and got the Welcome Hone discount for my booked December trip. Also got Aug UY, it fitted my best with my schedule.
he said I can’t get Aug UY now, but if i wait i can. I won’t be deciding until sept anyway ( incentives go until 9/11)

This right here. I’d give your guide the one opportunity to pull the strings that others guides are willing to do, and then contact another one if he can’t deliver.
I may call dvc myself and get answers. My guide is telling me two things that seem to be false.

It's very possible that DVD does not have any (or enough) current August use year points (2022) left in inventory. If that is the case, then they cannot sell you what they do not have. If you buy after 8/1/2023, you will receive 2023 use year points - since that use year hasn't stated yet for August,, there will be current use year points (2023) available in inventory.

If you buy in September, there is no way to get 2022 points for any use year prior to September. Your membership will begin with 2023 use year points.

thanks. and that is fine- we don’t have plans to go ( as of right now) until Dec ‘24 when My daughter goes for dance. We TYPICALLY travel there every other year- but maybe a 1 or 2 nights in between.

You WILL have full direct benefits if you purchase two 100 point contracts. The total is over the required 150 pt minimum. If you were to sell one of those contracts you would drop below the threshold and would no longer have the benefits.
