Hey fellow campers, we arrive Sat at the fort for our first time and I just have a couple questions before we get there.

We may arrive as early as 7 or 8 am Saturday morning can I park the camper and truck in a overflow lot and head off to the parks until our site is ready and does WDW contact you when your site is ready?

With the cable I am assuming its just a wire from the pole that your plug in to your camper? Do I need to bring the cable with me or does WDW provide this?

I will ask to get on the wired internet list as soon as I get there. Assuming I get it do I have to run the wire thru a window somehow or does it come thru the cable box maybe?

And finally I have read that you should fax your request in 5 days or so before you arrive and it helps to get the loop your request. Is that true and if so does someone have the fax number?

If anyone has any other helpful info for us before we arrive I sure would appreciate it!!

Watching this thread and taking notes for my first trip to the fort! :thumbsup2

Yes, you can register and park (sometimes the overflow lot, sometimes they have you pull up omto a grassy area inside the gate).
They can text you when your site is ready.
Remember, on check-out day, you can pull out and leave your camper in overflow, or drive to one of the parks and park free by showing your camping slip.
We always make note of our requested loop right under the remarks area of our registration, have never sent a fax. Truthfully, we've never been disappointed. One time they were unable to place us as requested, and upgraded us to a premium loop.
Sorry, can't help with the other questions. We connect to the internet through wireless mobile, and use our antenna (clearer reception than their cable). You will need a cable.

We were there last week, the kit I picked up at Meadows included 8 piece's, Cable from post to camper, splitter, Modem , separate box for Fort cable channel with remote control, Ethernet cable. Our iPads had to be used with a Hot spot, Airbook worked with the Ethernet

If you are using the "My Disney Experience" website along FP+ etc the MDE has an early checkin option where you can note special requests like particular loops, near comfort stations, and the like.

. . . if the site is ready, you can check-in and move onto it as early as 6:05am
. . . otherwise, you park in the overflow or inside the gates in a special spot
. . . once checked-in, you can access the park tix and enjoy the parks

. . . all the gear is provided in "the kit"
. . . we suggest you brining a 25' coax
. . . this is in case your connection is further than the cord provided

. . . as soon as you get the kit, you can access the INTERNET
. . . the kit is connected to the cable box modem and a router splitter

. . . faxing OCCASIONALLY works
. . . usually it does not, as the fax if put into File-13
. . . if we read every fax, we wouldn't get our work done
. . . as stated by Boma Ed, call and get your requests onto the ressie

Thanks everyone! One more question I keep reading about getting kits? Is there a kit for the cable tv and a kit for the internet? Assuming there is 2 different kits is there a cable box in the tv kit? My smaller tv that is in the camper does not a QAM receiver in the tv itself which means it's needs a cable box to make the tv work with cable. Sorry for the questions but I am trying figure if I need to bring my bigger tv. Thanks again!!

For the cable TV, you just plug into the outlet onto the pole. You will need your own cable.

I agree bring the cable mentioned as we always have to use ours on loop 800 as we back up as far as we can on the site.

I use to fax in my request and last year I noticed it didn't make a difference except one time when I had a CM try to give me the 600 loop. I pulled out a copy of my faxed request with all the different locations I liked and got my 800 loop.

Now I just stay when I think it'll be slower and haggle at check in if I have to for a the specific site I want. It's easier to get what you want when they aren't as full as I am hoping they won't be today. :)

Ethernet kit here I come. Lol!
