Got a couple of questions for the experts!

We bought in SSR last January through Disney, and we've already decided that we'd like to add on another 50 points. Have a call into our guide, but haven't heard back from him yet, so in the meantime...

How easy is it to add on? What's the process? We financed the original purchasse, and we'd just like to add the additional 50 to that somehow? We eventually want to start looking at resales for additional points, but right now we want just a few more points with SSR, 50 more points will give us that much more flexibility for what we want to do now.

My other question...Can we make a reservation at our home resort at the 11 month mark, then when the 7 month window appears, switch to another available resort? Without any penalty? I like the feeling of having a confirmed place to stay, but might not want to stay at the same place all the time, but don't want to wait until 7 months out and not have anything available.

Thanks so much!

Yes, you can switch resorts at the 7 month mark, just like if you were paying cash--in other words, there is no penalty for switching. That's the beauty of DVC! I also own at Marriott, and what a difference! If you ask for the 4-10, they can give you a ressie for any of their check-in dates, on a Fri-Sat-Sun, unless you specifically tell them otherwise! What a surprise to me!

Adding-on is the same process as buying new points, you go thru the same ream of paperwork. Yes, you can finance if you are buying 50 or more points. I just financed 51:D points thru Disney for OKW, and it was no different than if you bought a new contract, except that you have already paid one contract, they don't make you fill out all the info on bills you owe. :p You may want to let your guide know that you will be looking for points at other resorts(if you are!). Smaller contracts are not usually good deals on resale, and you will need cash for them. With closing, my 51 points was the same price as a resale, and I had the ability to make immediate ressies using those points.
