Counting Our Nuts Like Chip & Dale, a Financially Aware PTR *Update 4/17 Pg 62 *

How is it that our workplaces always make us feel so guilty when we are down and out? It's not like you meant to break your foot. It's not like you meant to fall in that pot hole!!! Sheesh. I hope it all works out

Yes. I'm sure tripping, falling, and being laid up in the boot was all part of your master plan to get out of work, eh? ;)

 My dear friend! I hope you feel better soon and don't let this worry eat away at you. It'll all work out. :goodvibes

Unbelievable! So sorry to hear you have to miss more work and that they are not being understanding. Hang in there and hopefully the place where you fell will make it right and start paying!

So sorry for all your stress.:grouphug:

I work for an insurance company so I know how slow they can be. If Aflac lives up to their commercials than you should be better off in a few weeks. It's suppose to help with those added expenses that health insurance doesn't cover for an accident.

And to top it off my HR department at work is not being understanding at all, they almost make me feel like they think I'm doing this on purpose.

Well duh! Didn't you walk deliberately into that pothole so you could spend the next 6-8 weeks sitting on your couch?

I know exactly how you feel, when I was sick last year it was like, um no, I wasn't out all last week because I was on a "secret" vacation.

Best of luck with all the insurance stuff, pain in the but now, but hopefully it will pay out (pun intended) in the end.

Hey Leslie trying to get caught up on the Dis after being away w/ family and friends... Sorry about the stress w/ your injury and the complications w/ work that really stinks hope something can be resolved soon for you :)
For the next challange Q my fav ride in Fantasyland has to be the tea cups I just love that ride waiting and hoping to get your fav color spinning around (not to fast now) and just laughing away LOL sorry no pix to share posting on my phone take care

Oh LL - so sorry you are going through all this. Why don't people realize how painful and frustrating a foot fracture is. It affects everything in your life. I really hope that your disability and a settlement come through quickly. I just feel confident everything will be straightened out by the time of your trip.

Stay strong and try not to be too exhausted handing out on your couch in pain and thinking of all the "what-ifs".

I have to agree with you that Target has some pretty cool groceries that you can't get anywhere else! :thumbsup2

Sorry to hear that your job isn't being very helpful. Companies tend to be that way. You are supposed to give 110%, work over without being compensated, pick up the slack left behind by the office slackers, blah, blah, blah.... but the first time you need a break, you can forget it! :sad2:

I hope things start looking up for you though. And I wouldn't worry about your trip. You still have time to recover from all this. You'll just have to really tighten your belt for the next few months to compensate for what you've lost, but I bet you can do it. At least, if this HAD to happen, it did so with enough time to heal before your trip. Can you imagine trying to go to WDW with a broken foot? :scared1:

How frustrating, on top of the injury, to have to deal with everything else!! I'm soooo sorry! On the subject of blisters, have you tried the Monistat chafing cream/powder? I used it on our trip last year, because I couldn't find Bodyglide. It kept me from chafing & doesn't make you slip & slide. Just kind of a powder that goes on as a cream.

Oh LL that really stinks  I hope the investigation is done quickly and properly and they come out with the proper conclusion (building's pothole, building pays up! - and fixes said pothole!) And don't stress about Disney just yet, you have lots of time to see what happens. Just take care of yourself and worry about your needs first.

Hi, LL! Look, I finally have time for the DIS! :woohoo:

I am so sorry to read about your foot/blister/work woes! I hope things get better soon on that front! Lots of pixie dust headed your way! :wizard:

We enjoy Philharmagic, but my absolute Fantasyland favorite has to be the teacups. I have very fond memories of riding that with my mom and dad, and of course, I still love riding them! :goodvibes I would say 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea or Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, but they aren't around anymore.;)

Ugh, what stress!!! I hope this past week some things have improved for you and some of the money has come through. And yes, that company is completely liable! What even needs investigating?! :headache:

Don't start stressing yet! Your still over 5 months out. Plenty of time for things to look up! Happy your happy to be going back to work. When I had my appendix out back in May, I was SO bored and miserable not being at work! Weird I know. :confused3
I don't love my job by any means but I was just happy to get off the couch!!

Ooooo... that stinks! :( At least everything is still in the "If" field not in the "They are..." field. And I think that parking lot is definitely liable. To get two fractures, that must've been one big pot hole and there should've been something around it to make sure nobody would go near it. I don't think they need an investigation at all. Hopefully your HR department will understand and hopefully the AFLAC goes through to settle all this. Just don't let it weigh on your mind too much, because you do have awhile until the trip, stay on the positive side of things :thumbsup2
I'm trying to stay positive....things are taking forever to get sorted out though. I think the insurance company is playing a game with me at this point. It's been almost three weeks!

How is it that our workplaces always make us feel so guilty when we are down and out? It's not like you meant to break your foot. It's not like you meant to fall in that pot hole!!! Sheesh. I hope it all works out
I know, I had an awful first day back and now I'm at the point where I don't care what they think. I have my note for 4 hours a day for the next month and if I feel good I will change it, if not, I will not let them make me feel guilty!

Yes. I'm sure tripping, falling, and being laid up in the boot was all part of your master plan to get out of work, eh? ;)

Oh yes, didn't you see how that work so nicely? Stupid people. :headache: It's hard to be missing the last of summer cooped up in the house recovering!

Ugh, I'm sorry to hear you have to go through all of this. Hopefully everything is resolved soon!
Thanks!

I hope so....still waiting...

AFLAC is something that I pay for myself through work, so I know they will reimburse me, it's just waiting for that to come through. I'm starting to really stress out about our bills.

Well duh! Didn't you walk deliberately into that pothole so you could spend the next 6-8 weeks sitting on your couch?

I wish I was on a secret vacation! :rotfl2: I hope it will pay out, I am determined to get some sort of settlement with everything I have been through the last few weeks.

Work is resolved...for now. They had to follow up with my doctor and so everything is good...for now. I'm not holding my breath because everything has been such a complication with this.

It really does affect EVERYTHING. I can barely do anything for myself. I heated up my own lunch today and I felt like I was on top of the world. :rotfl2: But when you are on crutches or a walker, it's really hard to carry stuff and i can finally move around without the walker around the house. I still use it at work though to give me more stability.

I can't even imagine a broken foot in Disney. It wouldn't happen...I would have to rent a scooter everyday! Talk about a blow to the budget! Eeek!

I haven't tried that yet. I will keep it in mind. The blisters have gotten better thank goodness!

I hope so too, I am still waiting! They actually had someone take pictures and they took pictures of the wrong area and not the area where I fell. I'm so frustrated with the whole process. I just want to know what is going to happen at this point!

Thanks! It's nice to see you back here on the DIS!

I loved 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea the one time I rode it. I have very visit memories of it even though I was 5!

Ugh, what stress!!! I hope this past week some things have improved for you and some of the money has come through. And yes, that company is completely liable! What even needs investigating?! :headache:
Not really.... Still waiting, trying to have lots of patience.

I want to apologize for being Debbie Downer lately, my foot injury has hit me hard. I'm still waiting to hear back from the insurance company and my own Aflac policy to get compensated from my loss wages.

With that being said, I have some bad news and some good news.

First, the good news....

Tipsy_BabyonBoard2.jpg

Yep! I'm pregnant! :goodvibes I still can't believe it myself especially after last month we were going through fertility testing and were told that we would have to go through IVF treatments in order to have a baby.

Baby is due on April 1st and both Marc and I are thrilled. THRILLED, I tell you. It's been a long road for us. Three years of trying, losing weight, trying again, being diagnosed with polycystic ovary syndrome and just when I thought we were headed to a fertility clinic...we are pregnant!

So if you haven't guessed already, the bad news is that we are canceling our Disney trip. I hate that we have to cancel but as we are going to need every spare penny for baby, it makes the most sense for us right now. I'm holding out hope that I will get a super fabulous huge gigantic settlement from the insurance company and maybe we can sneak away for a little babymoon, but we will just have to see what happens with that. I am not holding my breath. Baby is the very best reason to have to cancel a Disney trip that I can think of. :goodvibes

I'm in tears all over again! Such a miracle!!!!!!!! I'm so thrilled for you guys!

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!
