Did you all see that Disney released Free Dining yesterday?
Did you all experience the DIS crashing because of the Free Dining activity?
Did you all remember that we are renting DVC points and therefore are ineligible for Free Dining?
Or are we?
Let's go back, shall we?
Once upon a time, Leslie was sitting on her computer on her Facebook page....Tuesday August 2nd to be exact.
On her Facebook page she saw that her friend Brook posted a rumor that Disney was releasing a Free Dining promotion the very next morning.
Leslie looked at the dates and asked Brook a question. "If you check in before Free Dining expires, can you get it for the length of your stay?" Brook answered, "Why yes Leslie" or something to that effect.
Being the good wife that she is, Leslie felt it her duty to tell her husband this. Marc was intrigued as he knew that Leslie wanted to add nights, that it was her one true desire for this trip as she thinks 5 nights is way too short to spend in Disney.
Marc said, "Crunch the numbers" and being the good wife she is, Leslie crunched the numbers and presented the totals to her husband. Leslie asked Brook a few more questions and Leslie presented the details to Marc.
For exactly $718.34, 3 nights at Pop Century, with 2 2-day Base Tickets and FREE dining could be secured. Marc said, "I think that is a fine deal wife, let's book it." Or something to that effect.
Leslie emailed Brook and went to bed with visions of free corn dog nuggets, cream cheese pretzels and slushie cokes dancing in her head.
Leslie checked her email about 50 million times in the morning, she couldn't log on to the DIS either, apparently the boards couldn't handle all the free dining activity! What is a girl to do? Check her email and the DIS boards compulsively until something happens.
Which is what she did. Until...there was an email from Brook! Yay! Free Dining is booked!! Three extra nights at Pop Century!!
The End.
You know, I have to say that Marc is an out of the closet Disney Lover! I mentioned the free dining in passing, as I mention all deals like that to Marc and he was the one who totally jumped on board. I actually couldn't believe it. We have been trying to figure out how to add on a few nights, like 2 or even 1 but flights are ridiculous MLK weekend so we had put that idea on the back burner because increase in flights plus hotel...ehh not so financially aware.
I even offered to take one of our nights OFF of our AKV reservation so that we would technically only be adding two nights but nope, Marc said for the amount we are paying to rent points let's have an extra night. Who am I to argue with that logic?
So the package is costing us $718.34 but if my math is correct, we are only adding about $360ish to our total cost of vacation. Our food is free for those nights, we are getting the quick service dining plan, our park ticket increase is minimal and the two day base tickets that we were already going to have to purchase, we are just paying for two days upfront and we will upgrade them when we arrive in Disney. We will not need to purchase much if any additional food with the quick service plan, we can split counter service if need be to save our credits, not that I think we will be short on them.
I am seriously happy that we are adding nights at a very minimal cost and even better is that the Thursday flights are cheaper than they would be on Sunday!
New dates:
Thursday Jan 12 - Sunday Jan 15: Pop Century
Sunday Jan 15 - Friday Jan 20: Animal Kingdom Villas!
The moral of this fairy tale...ALWAYS tell your husband about Disney deals.
