Counter service seating

I remember reading that during one of the peak seasons at end of last year or maybe this year, counter service seating was being monitored by a CM. You had to have your order before your party could be seated. Is this still in effect? I'm kind of hoping it is, because I hate sharking for a table with kids in tow and trying to balance trays. Thanks for any info!

We did counter service in all four parks and didn't see any evidence of this happening during our July trip.

In June, they were monitoring very strictly at the Pinocchio restaurant in MK, but I didn't notice it anywhere else and we also had lunch at Pecos Bills, Starring Rolls (which desperately needed this), Flame Tree BBQ, and Seasons.

1) During peak times, yes.
2) Usually,
. . . Pecos Bill
. . . Pinocchio
. . . Electric Umbrella
3) Works well, unless management gets involved.

NOTE: I remember eating at one of the places during Easter. It
was crowded and the CM monitoring was going on and working
really well
. Then, the QS manager came through. (She is quite
a witch.) She told the eatery manager it wasn't needed so he
stopped it. Within 15-minutes it was chaos. He pointed it out to
her, she shrugged her shoulders and walked away.

in late June which is a moderately heavy time and have only seen it used once. That one time it worked well.

Thanks so much for your replies. I'm not hopeful for this trip, as it's not a peak season, but it just makes so much sense! I'm assuming it isn't policy because of staffing. They would be paying an employee to provide a service that isn't netting them any gain. Well, except for happy customers.

Many folks do not enjoy the oversight of a CM telling you where to sit. I sympathize with your concern having to find place with the kids in tow, and when it is really busy, it makes sense.

But when it isn't really busy, I find it really annoying (the very few non-busy times I've encountered that practice).

You might want to check out Pecos Bills if the Mexican side (what are we callng that now? :confused3 -- oh yeah, Tortuga Tavern) is not open, you can sit over there, and it is usually pretty good picking for spots. Not so when Mexican side is open.

We just came back and during peak times you did have to to have your food before getting a seat at Pecos Bill's, Cosmic Ray's and Pinocchio's Haus. We were at Disney July 14 - 28.

Last Weds (the 27th) it was definitely in effect at Cosmic Rays at lunchtime.
