Just would like personal choices for counter services at hotels on disney rather than in the parks or DTD.

Also what sort of time would the counter services stop being served at the hotels??

Many thanks

I think at AKL the Mara shut at like 11pm or maybe even midnight. And it opened at 6am.

Basically if we were awake (excluding the first morning!! :rotfl:) it was open.

At SSR last year it was 11pm. I think it was later at CB,ASMo & POFQ, certainly no earlier. We liked the breakfast platter + 2 drinks.

Thanks for the quick responses :goodvibes

As well as the times can you tell me which hotel you liked for counter services - many thanks :goodvibes

To be honest (and I've never eaten at either of these) the only two hotels I'd bother getting CS from would be the Poly/GF as you could grab some food and eat ourside with a view of the MK.

The meals aren't really anything special at any of them I don't think.

The food courts at the values have the largest selections.

We really like the Pepper Markey at CSR but only if you are on the dining plan otherwise it is a little pricey.

TBH I would never really bother to eat at another resorts CS unless I wanted to see the resort for a future visit.

If you like desserts then Animal Kingdom Lodge is worth a visit to pick up some zebra domes.

DIS have released a new Dining Plan search tool that might help you http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/dining/diningmain.cfm
Not checked it out myself yet but looks to give opening times.
When we had Dining plan last August we preferred going around the resorts to eat CS for lunch, a lot more relaxed and better choice than in parks.
Favourites were both Port Orleans food courts, ate at each one 3 times, great choice.
Mara at AKL, just to get zebra domes if nothing else.
Best CS is not in resort though, its at DTD, Wulfgang Puck Express, ate there about 3 or 4 times also.

We really like the counter service at Port Orleans French Quarter. As Wayned says, plenty of options for lunch and dinner (I had the rotisserie chicken one night and it was delicious) and pretty good value. We popped over there a couple of times while we were staying at Old Key West last year as we preferred it to the CS place at OKW.

Mmmm, zebra domes!

To be honest I would never travel to another resort for counter service - unless I was staying at one of the deluxes that has very little choice.

We really enjoyed Pepper Market - its nothing like counter service in the other hotels/parks as its on china plates/cutlery etc and its all fresh to order - lots of choice fresh pizzas, deli sandwiches, Mexican food, pasta, salad, burgers etc. The restaurant is not run by Disney so the food is very different (i.e. the pizza is nice :rotfl:).

But even then I wouldnt travel to use it-and would only go on the DDP as its quite expensive otherwise.

I think the parks and Downtown Disney have the best choice - Wolfgang Pucks Express is brilliant!

As others have said, I wouldn't recommend going out of your way to try any of the (resort) CS restaurants. Saying that, certain places such as Pepper Market at CSR have quite the following on here (I personally didn't rate it, but that's probably down to me being a vegetarian and there not being much choice).

Have always found the Port Orleans Resort Food Court very good - plenty of choices and lots of seating. It's also nicely themed.

There is also a handy boat link to Downtown Disney from POR :)

I enjoy resort CS meals (I don't like the interaction needed at table service - then the fretting over how much to tip and when/where to leave it) and have enjoyed visiting different resorts to get it.

It's easy to get to Poly or Contemporary for CS if you are in MK for the day and as Tim said an enjoyable boat trip from DTD to Port Orleans.

Pepper Market at Coronado Springs was very nice but there is an added service charge at this location which bunps the price up a little.

Riverside Mill at POR is open really late, I think until midnight. At least until 11.30pm, we tested it last year. That includes the make your own pasta!
