Counter service for lunch at DHS?

How is the Starring Rolls Cafe for lunch at DHS? I see they carry some sandwiches and pastries. Are the sandwiches good? How are the pastries and what are some of the choices?

Is there another CS you recommend at DHS for lunch? We will be at DHS 2 days on our trip in July. We plan to go to Toy Story Pizza Planet one day for lunch because the boys love it (I just get the chicken salad there and I'm fine...I don't like theme park pizza!). For the second day, can't decide whether we want to try another CS or just go to 50s Prime Time (for the theming more than anything...we've never been there). We will be on the basic DDP so Prime Time would be OOP if we go there for lunch, but we could easily (and more than willingly!) use the extra CS credit on breakfast one morning (we'd like to get some Tonga Toast anyway and we can do that at Captain Cook's one morning before MK or on a non-theme park day).

So, how are the other CS choices at DHS? Anything worth while?

I love Starring Rolls, and I think the sandwiches and desserts are fantastic. Off the top of my head, I've had tiramisu there, a cupcake, and some sort of banana creme dessert.

I can't resist the veggie sandwich at Backlot Express and my son their their hotdog. I like the plentiful indoor/outdoor seating there, too. I'll never understand why so many people choose to crowd into the indoor tables especially when it's just so pleasant on the patio in the fall through spring. :confused3

Anyway, enjoy.

:)

We love Starring Rolls, it's one of our favourites! And especially in MGM where most of the counter service locations are pretty sub-par. The sandwiches are great [sometimes the veggie pita gets a little soggy, but it's still nice!], and the Miss Vickies chips are so much nicer than the Lays they offer almost everywhere else. Also they have a fabulous selection of deserts, but it's the cupcakes that really do it for me, even if it is impossible to finish one, they're huge!

Love the Veggi Pizza and salad at Top Story Pizza Planet :cool1::hippie:

Studo Catering but the menu selection is pretty narrow. Besides Toy Story Pizza, yeah the pizza is not that great but the kids seem to like it, we usually go to Backlot Express.

the veggie sandwich @ Backlot sounds great! Pizza Planet is where my kids always want to go but I will eat my sandwich from the other place to go!

I looked at the menus for Starring Rolls and Backlot. Both places look great, so we will probably hit one of them for our second day at DHS. The first day will definitely be Pizza Planet because my boys love it there and I did enjoy their chicken salad last summer.

If you were me, would you pay OOP for a lunch at 50s Prime Time instead? Is the food (except dessert...not ordering it if paying OOP for Prime Time) better there than Starring Rolls or the Backlot? If we were to go to Prime Time for lunch, we would pay OOP but not order dessert. If we still feel we want dessert after eating lunch there, we would get something at Starring Rolls at some point for sure (after reading about those cupcakes, sounds like they are irresistible!). Is it worth it to pay OOP for a lunch at 50s Prime Time? Is the atmosphere that great? We like antics at meals and would enjoy that, I know not everyone does, but we are those kind of people! If we did the lunch at 50s PT then we would use our extra CS credit one morning for breakfast...there would be no problem using the credit! What do you think?

I'd do the OOP at 50s. The food there is fine, and the atmosphere is really worth it for us. My kids love that place, and if you skip dessert, your meal will not be that expensive.

Thanks! I looked at the lunch menu online and the entree prices are very decent. Not expensive at all. We would just get entrees and sodas, and the kids would get kids' meals. We would really go mainly for the atmosphere, but want to also make sure the food is good! And we have so many other TS restaurants we want to go to for dinner (I actually had to narrow down the list!) that we can't fit it in for a dinner so we are thinking about lunch. Thanks!
