Counter service Food?

yum, forgot about the corndogs, love them

In DCA you get them at Corndog Castle. It's in the Paradise Pier area right next to the pink dinosaur. They have regular corn dogs and hot link corn dogs (my favorite).

What are these? I've not heard of them before.

And good to know about the corn dogs. My kids l-o-v-e them, so that will be a quick meal.

Just like a regular corn dog, but instead of a hotdog in the middle, its a hotlink (spicy hot dog, sort of like a polish dog, but even more spicy).

For some reason the ones I remember to take a picture of were left in the fryer a little too long. Still good to me, but a lot of people don't like the look of them.

What is a Dole Whip?

Thanks to the OP for the question - we'd prefer counter service, too. :)

A blob of pineapple soft serve, also available as a "float" in a cup of pineapple juice. I was unimpressed. :confused3

We find that the prices are about the same in both parks but that the portions and quality are better in DCA. We like a lot Boudin but Taste Pilot's Grill is our absolute favorite.

This is a Dole Whip Float, taken at WDW last Fall:

People either love it or hate it. I actually prefer the float. Nothing beats pineapple soft serve over chilled pineapple juice! It's my absolute favorite WDW snack, but at DL I prefer a mint julep and fritters purchased at the Mint Julep bar behind the French Market.

And the French Market has a killer jambalaya - the same that they serve at the Blue Bayou, btw. It's one of my must eats.

I had heard sooo much about dole whips, had to try one...I was one of the 'not impressed'. Sure it was fine but not to rave about imo. :confused3

We love dole whips have not tried the float version yet .............still in morning for Fantasia ice cream..........but the ice cream at the train in CA is awsome too!

This is a Dole Whip float (the other is a pineapple spear!).

Dole Whip is a pineapple soft-serve dessert that is out of this world! The float is the Dole Whip on top of pineapple juice. Nothing beats this treat.

Oh MAN, my mouth is literally watering right now! That just looks SO good.

OK, so WHAT is the pineapple spear???? It looks odd...........
And, can I just get pineapple juice there? The dole whip looks great, but no dairy for me :sad1:

I TOTALLY have to second the DOle whips!!! they were to DIE for...I only was able to get 1 while we were there last year {lines ended up being outrageous all the time} but plan on making it a DAILY thing this year when we go in August!

Thank you so much- I am hungry now and don't know how I will choose where to eat since we only have 3 days at DL and DCA. I also appreciate the ones that say "don't eat here". This board is so helpful!!

I'm trying to figure out the Pineapple Spear, too... is it like grilled pineapple or something? The Dole Whip looks like it would be good, but I'd get sick of it too quickly and if I was going to waste calories on ice cream, I'd rather get chocolate. ;)

The floats are too sweet for me. Just give me the whip!

And I agree about the jambalaya. I have to get it at least once on every trip.

Dole Whips are non-dairy so you can enjoy.
Says so right here on Disney's webpage. Also, if you ask they have the ingredient list behind the counter so you can double check.

The spear is not grilled but it still has the skin on, that's the dark part of the picture.

As for the Dole Whip, if you get the whip and not the float, it is surprisingly refreshing. It's light, not overly sweet and not overly pineapplely (probably not a real word??).

I love the Jambalaya at BB! I didn't know it was the same at French Market. Oh wow, I so want that right NOW! LOL The corn dogs at the place in CA are good but they are HUGE!!!! We got one for the kids to share and the couldn't even finish it. Super yummy though. I'll have to try that hot link one...mmmmmm
I am not a huge fan of the Dole Whip Float, DBF is but not me. I do love the Whip itself though, so cool and refreshing, especially on a hot summer day. Altho I love it on a cold winter day too!

Oh, and sorry for posting the Dole Whip Float photo and not explaining the pineapple spear! My mind fails me sometime...

As already said, it's just a slice of fresh pineapple, and I think DH only paid $1.25 for it. It was kind of hard to eat since they only gave him a fork and no knife to eat it with, but he managed!

FYI - I just added the recipe for the Jambalaya over on the Official Disney Recipe Exchange thread, just in case you want to try it at home!

:worship:

I'll have to give this a try.
Hmm....I don't remember pork being in it, and there's usually some sort of seafood besides the shrimp, imitation crab I think.

I always wondered if it was the same as the one being served in BB. I could never bring myself to order it at BB prices since I knew I could get it at FM for much less.

Honestly, I just add whatever meat I want! Translation: lots more shrimp!

The only reason I know it's the same at both restaurants is that I've had it both places. The last time we ate at the Blue Bayou I just had to order it because that was all I could smell when we entered the restaurant. But was it worth it!

Okay... killing me with the corndog pictures! Those are the ones I was asking about... my goodness... all the breading... that is the BEST part... and I love mine to go a little long in the fryer too... thanks for telling me where to find them!

mmmmmmmm
